A pharmacist recommended Comtrex for my cold and despite it making me dizzy (the first dose, then afterwards I am ok), it works SO well! Way better than DayQuil. I would highly recommend to anyone.

So far it has worked good. My symptoms were a swollen throat (not sore) and the light headed feeling that you are getting site. I woke up this morning with a bad sore throat, and took the amber colored capsules and I felt good today until about 2:00 pm. (Note I took the 2 day pills at 2:00 am) Seemed to work. I am trying the night time tonight. Fun stuff.

For a bad sore throat (the type that makes your throat feel really full) that accompanies a cold, Comtrex works. I'm referring to the amber-colored Comtrex syrup. It works because it has plenty of acetaminophen (the same stuff in Tylenol) to control the pain and you get some immediate relief because the syrup is really thick and has a menthol taste to temporarily coat the throat and numb the pain. It doesn't have a decongestant so use something else to get rid of the stuffy nose.

I woke up this week with a terrible stuffy head, burning sinuses and tearing eyes. Headed to the drug store. Looking over the plethora of otc meds, I tried to make an intelligent decision based on my symptoms. Comtrex acute head cold seemed to have it all. Too bad the reality didn't meet the claims. Now in addition to a headache, stuffy head and burning sinuses, I can add dry mouth, cold nose and the strange sensation of my hair standing on end. At least there was a $2.00 instant coupon.

I have had bad sinus allergies and Comtrex is the only over the counter medication that has stopped the sinus headaches. It's a little costly but I like that it does the job.
