So here I am all stuffy headed and coughing not able to do anything due to the cough. This illness has been harder on me than I thought it was. I quickly moved from tea's and toddy's to pills and lozenges. I bought these cough lozenges as I have had them before and they usually work for a little while. As I am trying to watch my sugar intake I got the sugar free version. The flavor is as what I would expect. A menthol flavor with a hint of cherry to cover the bad taste that would other wise be left in your mouth. Each lozenge seems to last around 20 minutes or so as long as you dont chomp them. Chomping them seems to void the purpose of the drop entirely. The package says they are ok to use for adults and children 5 and over. I have a problem with that. I dont let any of my kids have hard candy till they are at least 8. I am afraid they will choke on it. So as this is like hard candy I would not let them have it. The package says repeat ever 2 hours. I find my self needing to use a new lozenge ever 35 minutes or so.There are several warnings telling you that if your cough is accompanied by a fever or if a rash should develope you should see a doctor. I am thankful that nothing like that has happened to me. They seem to work when you have them in your mouth but shortly after they are gone I found my self coughing and hacking again.I would recommend these for a quick fix or a solution for the moment. They will not make you feel better nothing but rest and fluids will do that.Summary: good product for a quick fix. Also published on Dooyoo under same user name

These are absolutely putrid! They're too strong, and they would peel the paint right off of your picket fence!

I like the cough drops Hall's offers, I use them as a throat stimulant and soother/moisturizer while singing. The problem I want to sound off about is the wrapping on each drop. I carry them in my pocket, and when they warm up, the wax paper-type wrapping sticks to the drop making it almost impossible to remove the paper from the drop without tearing it to sherds and then having to put it in my mouth to wet it enough to pick the paper off of the drop. I think they should go to the celluloid type wrapping, which other cough drop manufacturers use, and it never is a problem to remove from the drop...OK, I feel better...

I must continuously have the monster of all coughs/sore throats if these generally work for the average sufferer.

For all the men and women who question the use of halls, stop, it works. My wife and I have discovered that during oral sex, Cherry Halls out last other stimulants. Both sexes can enjoy the lasting and stimulating sensations. Cherry Halls have become almost an addiction, but it's enjoyable and comforting. Try it and see. Thanks Cadbury we love you.

I myself am not crazy about the taste of any cough drop, but I must admit they do soothe the throat.

I have a love hate relatinship with Halls! I absolutely love the taste, but I am completely addicted! I eat at least one pack every day, and when I don't have any left, I cave for them! I am totally hooked (if that's possible)!

Taste is TERRIBLE! Just bought the cherry (my favorite flavor generally) and I couldn't even finish the first one I tried - I had to spit it out! Plain GROSS.

I am going through the same thing.

i say this only because of the new sugar-free varieties made with malitol and sorbitol...these have a laxative effect on the body. just think about it- you're coughing pretty hard, and...ugh. I view this to be irresponsible and unnecessary, as the sweetener Splenda, a sweetener made from sugar, does not have this effect... maybe they didn't want to pay the extra two cents per cough drop, but i sure would. Also, i really don't think it's a good idea to give them to children either, even if the doctor says it's okay...he has no idea how your child will react to the sweeteners...some are very sensitive...and you don't need a sick child with diarreah...they'll get dehydrated and could face some serious health risks.

I prefer not to take cough drops but if someone has a package of Halls I will suck on one. They seem to work if I have a minor sore throat. Definitely better than Ricolas.

Although I have cronic allergies and didnt think I could live without halls to help me breath just enough to sleep. PLEASE DONT sleep with 1 and brush your teeth right after taking 1. I am now spending thousands of dollars to repair my teeth from this. My dentist told he is is rebuilding and well know Doctor's wife's teeth caused by halls as well having to depend on them to help her through her allergies. Im on my first 3 tooth bridge work and have 3 more sets to go and not counting the many many crowns. My dentist also says its very apparent its from that is this is sugar decay and I DO NOT EAT candy never did.

they work good for sore throat and stuffy nose, but i am tempted to chew them instead of suck them.

I sing in a rock and roll band. Smoke filled and down and dirty waysides and bars and such. These puppys are GREAT for taking the harshness out of the throat. 30 years and going strong. Honey Lemon, my friend is the best out there. If you have a cold, crunch one and let one melt in your mouth. It's like momma rubbing Vapo-Rub on ya. INHALE....What did you want from a cough drop? Count your blessings Grasshopper. It works for mem, after all...IT'S A COUGH DROP NOT A CURE!!! Thank you HALL'S!!!!! By the way, I played tonite....sweet!

It really all depends on what flavor of Halls you are purchasing. The blues ones are usually way too strong and overbearing, but the cherry and honey-lemon almost always relieve my throat from irritation. If I am really sick, these cough drops do absolutely nothing for me...

cough drops are great!

Now Halls are usually pretty good as far as effectiveness. Decent tasting, too.

These are very good cough drops and really help clear my head and chest. They are especially helpful when it comes to chronic Allergy problems. The price isn't bad but here's a little tip incase you haven't already discovered it - CVS has their own version of these and you can get a jumbo pack of 100 for about 2 dollars. They are exactly the same as Halls in quality and effectiveness but for about 1/3rd less.

These things will make your throat feel better, but only for minor sore throats. If you have a major sore throat, well... these things won't help much. But these things are definitely worth it for help with a minor sore throat, which you usually wind up with anyway, and they taste pretty good too.
consingirl 01/15/2001
They are excellent for your throat. I get sick a lot in the winter, and all I buy is Halls. They make my throat feel better right on the spot. They are easy to chew on.
Tytran 01/08/2001
Tastes okay. Soothes throat and helps to stop dryness. Helps alleviate coughing.
Minghoo 12/15/2000
Halls is not a good way to help you get over your cold. It tastes really sweet and it does not help relieve any discomfort at all. I find it addicting and not worth my money. I just pop them like candy.
Victoria S 12/14/2000
I really like Halls it does not taste bad. It does the job it's suppose to do and doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth. It's worth trying and you'll probably like it.
Soleil603 12/14/2000
When I am sick I stock up on Hall's because they really clear my head up. They also come in enough flavors that you won't get sick of just one. These are not cough suppressents, but they are definitely strong medicine. I like that they come in both bulk and small packs as well.
Cube-333 11/15/2000
Works very well. Probably better than any other cough remedies. Also, at a reasonable price. However, there are not very good flavors.
PoorOldEdgarDe rby 10/25/2000
Okay I guess but do people really think that these are that much better than Cherry Sucrets? I dislike their individual wax wrappers, and the name Mentho-Lyptus..
