On the one hand we have an untamed madman, still rockin' (as are his fellow Kings of Rock'n'Roll: Little Richard and Chuck Berry). On the other, we have a talented singer who sold his soul for popularity, couldn't stand himself, and died a bloated laughing stock. No contest.

I realize that a strong argument could be made that Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Ray Charles are all more talented, creative and deserving of adulation than these two guys, but their names aren't on the list item, so let's get on with it.Without a doubt Jerry Lee rocked harder and lived a far wilder life. Elvis was a better singer and more versatile musically and was no slouch in the wild life department. They were both guilty of questionable career moves and personal behaviour that tarnished their musical legacy. I give Elvis the edge for his cultural impact, sales and most importantly his trailblazing.

Musically, Lewis in a walk. As far as their personal life went, they're both pigs.

One man died on the toilet and the other married a 13-year old relative. . .Tough call, musically. . .both were talented. And yes, Elvis has gotten a free pass for selling out on many instances. . .and Elvis kissing Nixon's ass is historically one of the top 10 lowest moments in Rock and Roll. But how many awful movies did Lewis act in? I give Lewis the musical edge- but Elvis wins in social impact. . .

Let's see....On the one hand we have the king of hair oil, marrying 13 year old cousins, and raping a piano heavy metal-style before there was such thing as heavy metal. This would be Jerry Lee.On the other, we have the king of Rock and Roll...Elvis.No contest....Elvis.
