Hamburgers are okay, but not sure about them being at a picnic - it kind of makes into a BBQ really

Sounds like a good thing for a barbeque, but who says you can't barbeque at a picnic?

I love hamburgers, but they don't fit what my idea of picnic food is. To me a picnic is a meal that is prepared ahead of time, taken to another location, and served at the location without any other preparation needed. The other reviews I see her would fit a cook-out, which is different than a picnic in my mind. I like hamburgers when they are just off of the grill, so it wouldn't be something I'd think to make and then bring to a picnic.

Why limit these to picnics? Hamburgers (or rather, cheeseburgers) are one of my favorite foods, anytime.

In my opinion, the only way to enjoy a burger at a picnic is to grill every part of it. I like to grill the Ciabatta buns on the side, lightly brushed with the extra virgin olive oil, as I prepare (brushing the following ingredients with olive oil as well) and grill the onions, the tomatoes, and the Poblano peppers (until tender to the touch). As for the beef patty, I prefer to construct a 1/2-lb. bad boy using lean ground beef (about 1/4 lb. and combining it with 1/8 lb. of pork sausage, and then adding 1/8 pound of thinly sliced pepperjack cheese inside the patty). Because of the salt content already in the sausage, there is no need for any additional salt. But during he grilling process, I like to add crushed peppercorns on both sides. Cook until medium rare, then combine the other parts of the burger (adding lettuce and ranch sauce are strictly optional), and finally lightly douse with some tabasco sauce. You should find that the pepperjack cheese is gooey and melted inside when you bite in.Add in the garlic fries to the side, and you have the ultimate picnic hamburger.

A good grilled hamburger is a simple treat, yet somehow a lot of people can't seem to figure out how to make sure that it's done without burning it.
