As with any bout involving LaMotta, the question of whether the fight is on the square has to be asked. That being said, I think Hearns quickness, reach and punching power overcome LaMotta's systematic brawling and willingness to take the punches. If its an honest fight, it would be a good one.

I realize that Jay and Randy are the RIA boxing aficianados but, I'd have to go with Hearns in this matchup.I think Hearns may be one of the most underrated fighters of all time. As Jay points out, he was clearly robbed in the second fight against Leonard. As I pointed out in another review, yes he was KO'ed by Hagler in the 3rd round; but he broke his hand in the 1st. Hagler (wisely) refused a rematch. The guy also KO'ed ROberto Duran- not an easy task.La Motta was one of the greats, but I don't think he could've lasted against the Motor City Cobra, aka the Hit Man.

I is in Detroit...and we'll never forgive Tommy for keeping us depressed for the last 29 years with Ray Leonard I(even though he was robbed in Leonard II)...outside of New York ,I think LaMotta fought more in Detroit than anywhere else..he was much more clever than given credit for...and I think he would've been too much for the Hit Man.
