Well, all I have is DVDs and videos. I'll have to wait a while before I can go Blueray. By the time I get that far, they'll be doing something else that's different. When you live from paycheck to paycheck, and need every dime you earn for practical things, it's kind of hard to run right out and get the newest and latest electronic gadgets. Of course, if I wanted to, I could charge it, but that would be living well beyond my means. My motto is, if I don't have the money for a particular item, then I don't need it.

Personally, I think storage in the cloud is the winner over both of these thanks to the proliferation of broadband.Although media distribution companies love the idea of releasing films on new formats in an effort to resell the same titles to the same people, the quality of HD available for streamed and downloaded content keeps getting better and better. With the exception of truly classic films, I see no reason to invest in the purchase of BluRay copies of anything....thanks to the law of diminishing returns, we're beyond the point where decent and immediately accessible HD content is good enough. Why should I have to store and preserve the integrity of a disk (plus a specific device that plays it) when all I care about is the content contained therein, anyway?

When the Blu-ray format was First introduced, I was a little wary of the Whole thing. I have over 200 DVDs and was not eager to lose them all to new Technology. The whole Betamax/VHS thing was still in my Memory. I was worried that Blu-ray would Completely take over with its superior Technology. But then last year, Ayn walks in with a Blu-ray player and brother, I was sold! There is not a Massive difference between DVD and Blu-ray, but there is enough of a Difference to make it worthwhile to get one. What struck me at first was that I would Notice background more, pictures, Wallpaper and even Strands of the Actors hair and sometimes even the Threads of their clothing. I never was able to see these on DVD. What really sold me though, was the fact that Blu-ray players play DVD's. I would not have to lose my Precious collection after all. Blu-ray is the Easy choice of the Two formats, and worth the extra Ten bucks.

Blueray is absolutely flippin' sweet... and overpriced for the upgrade in quality over the very nice looking DVD format. If you have money to burn, buy the thing and slowly flip your collection over, but don't get in a hurry or anything.

As you all know technology keeps on advancing. I didn't believe all the hype and marketing surrounding blueray though. Then I watched my first blueray movie and have been hooked ever since! The picture quality is just amazing. The price to buy new blueray movies may not be worth it for some people (most new release movies are 25-35.00+). I'm sure in time the price will become more and more reasonable. Also many blueray players will play regular DVDs also, so you can still keep your old DVDs.
