This kid probably needed the spork just to cut what was being served in the cafeteria.

This is a stupid reason to suspend a kid from school. It's not like it was some dangerous, threatening weapon. Next, they'll tell them they can't bring combs, brushes, and basic hygiene items to school.Simply remarkable, and not in a good way.

Schools are adapting "zero-tolerance" towards these types of things now.Of course, pursuing zero-tolerance sometimes yields outcomes that defy common sense, as in this case.Isn't a spork an eating utensil that's a mixture of the spoon and a fork? Why would this kid get suspended for bringing a spork to school?

This was absolutely ridiculous. They should have been able to tell by looking at it that it didn't resemble any kind of a weapon. The boy was just going to use it to eat his lunch, for crying out loud. I believe that action should be taken when it's obvious there's a reason for it, but this was just plain uncalled for.
