I am almost done with my BBA at JIU. The experience is fantastic! I transferred from Grand Canyon, and it was the best decision I could have made. I haven't experienced any of the issues at JIU that I did at GCU. My advisors know me, and it's easy to ask questions. The curriculum is challenging, especially compared to other online schools. However, the time commitment is still less than it was at the other school.

I plan to get my MBA there as soon as I graduate in the spring. If you have thought about other online schools, save the time. My sister is in their master's of education program and loves it as much as I do! She also transferred from GCU (and took me with her).

The University is great. I'm very please with the great help I have received from everyone, starting with the Dean.

If you have a very busy life, I highly recommend you this University.

JIU has been a dismal disappointment.

I ran into some difficulty keeping up with the course schedule of my first class so I requested assistance from the instructor for help catching up. Her response was that she couldn't help me because she didn't know which class I was in. What followed was a series of similarly unhelpful responses complete with numerous spelling and grammar errors. When I reached out to the Academic Services department for help, they apologized, but ultimately didn't help much. They also made sure any admission of fault was by phone so that I would have no written record of their failures.

Apparently subpar instruction and lack of academic rigor are acceptable to JIU. Stay clear!

I love JIU! I switched from Kaplan University to JIU in Feb of 2009. (I would go into all my negative experiences at Kaplan but this review is about JIU lol)I am in my 5th term at JIU and I love almost everything about it. The one thing I wish they would change is the course setup. It is an older online setup but ...it works. The professors are aweomse and the administration is fantastic! They really seem to care about my degree and I am really glad I switched.

JIU is a bit more expensive, although I got into the military program because my father is a veteran. That cut a HUGE chunk off my tuition. I went from paying 2016 per course at Kaplan to 750 per course at JIU. Nice? Oh ya! JIU may not be the top #1 online school *cough UoP*. But in my experience the only reason UoP has the title is because of its size. I havent really talked to anyone who actually liked the school.

If you are looking to going to an online school, try JIU. They are worth it! You see all these negative reviews about other online school. Its hard to find many on JIU because they CARE! Good luck to everyone :)

I attended the institution and in the beginning was very pleased. Being a student who always gets A's and B's ; was in shock when I encountered a course for which I felt I was not graded fairly and accurately and considered this course a very easy course compared to previous courses taken from this online University. Also, I was told I would not receive a grade for a particular assignment (which was a first for me) just because I made a minor error in my APA format which I corrected.

After seeing that all my academic efforts were futile; I decided to withdraw from the course and the school completely before the Instructor could assign me a failing grade; and will now consider another online institution; such as North Central University. I did not file a grievance since it seemed that the instructor would prevail and that such a course of action would only cause hard feelings between myself and the instructor and I would still probably have to re-take the course and would be a complete additional waste of time.

The Cohort approach the University uses is also a poor approach in my opinion; because I believe it forces the Instructor to judge individual students academic performance against the cohort as a whole; and diverts attention away from the 'individual' student. In contrast, North Central University based on my understanding uses a one-on-one Mentor/Student approach. Also, I believe that NCU is now able to offer more options to financing ones education; including financial aid!

What a waste of my time and money. If anyone has encountered a similar situation at this institution; I encourage you to drop out if you feel you have not been graded fairly, or told you would not receive a grade for a particular assignment or assignments; and don't spend anymore money to re-take a course! Instead, use your hard earned money to re-coup your losses; and then find another institution.

I have just entered the Doctorate of Business program at JIU. I'm a veteran and love the way the treat their military and veterans. Because I served my country I got a 20% scholarship which knocks off a nice chunk of the overall cost. Also, the folks at JIU are awesome. This is an excellent accredited school and would be a great choice IMHO.

I am looking into attending JIU, but I am wondering if anyone out there is from Illinois and has graduated from the Master's of Education program and has had favorable reviews from the Illinois State Borad of Education about their JIU degree.  Thanks!

I am doing Masters in Education and this program has helped me a lot since I am looking forward to work as a full time teacher. The best part is it is flexible hours and the courses are very well designed and make you work hard.

I am looking at many online universities, and JIU seems to have the best Ed.D program in leadership. The admissions office has been helpful. It may be more expensive, but I think my degree will be earned and not bought.

I haven't gone to this school, but it looks to be really overpriced. They're asking $1290 for one 3-credit hour undergrad course. That puts it at $100 more per credit hour than any of the other online schools that offer the degree I want, Health Administration. No one has written a bad review about Jones yet, so I guess that's good, but is it worth another $100/credit? Not to me.

My experience at JIU is a great one because I feel that they really care about me and what I am going through with the courses. I feel that the people are friendly and enjoy talking to you when you have something to say. The Teachers are nice and very helpful and take the time to really answer you questions that may come up during the course of the classes. They seem to realize that everyone has other things to do outside of the "class room". The classes are the right ones that each student needs to take for the right degree that each student is interested in. All the advisors are very helpful in picking each class that each student needs to take for each degree. I realize that all the students and staff are all of different ages but understand this and try to help to make the transition from high school to the university. Then there are those who transition from the community college to the university. Having this understanding has helped me to transition into the university style of writing. I thank everyone for his or her help in getting me into the university and making my experience a positive one. There are to many people to mention personally but they all know who they are. I hope that each new person who comes to JIU has the same experience that I have had. This is one university that I hope to be able to return to for a Master degree to further.

This online university is just that. It fits my schedule, I don't have to be logged in at any particular time and I get EXCELLENT customer sevice. The professors e-mail you, the school checks in to be sure you're ok with the next set of courses. AND they share their experiences about the classes they've had and what you might be going into. This is what an online univerisity experience is all about. To put the icing on the cake they are regionally accredited! Job Well Done, Jones!

I would love to have more name recognition with my degree. I think this program is great, The diamond in the rough. JIU is undiscovered to many people who go to the largest "big mouth" on campus(UoP). With a little research, you can get a great university online! In fact they were the first fully online program that achieved the level of Regional Accreditation. What a great experience, I am in my 3rd class in the MBA program and I am really liking that I do not have to be logged in at any specific time.

I just completed a masters in education at Jones International University. It was extremely challenging and demanding. But I learned more than I have in any other educational setting.
