Budget Truck Rental 1

Is there a half star option? Budget almost wrecked my move and had a "Sorry Sucker" attitude the entire time!

I got a phone call at 6PM on the Friday before my Sat. 9AM move. The store clerk who called said "Sorry. Try UHaul." I called Budget's 800 customer service number and a ornery customer service agent said she would have a manager call me in the morning. "But I'm moving in the morning!" was all I could think. The customer service agent couldn't help find another truck...or she didn't want to. She sounded like she had other things more interesting to do than help me out.

So I called UHaul and they had a truck- and guaranteed it. Most people don't know that when you "confirm" a truck with Budget it is not guaranteed. UHaul guarantees thier truck reservations. I understand that in the rental truck business there are unforseen circumstances, however, I would have appreciated a better attitude and a greater effort to help me fix the situation. Two thumbs down.

Rented a truck on Tuesday Nov 2nd moving my parents from Houston to Fort Myers Fla. 6 hours int the trip the rental truck broke down on I12 MM71 took them from 12 noon that the truck broke down to 9pm to finally get me another truck. I had to wait to get a moving crew to unload the furniture into the other truck. Had to rent a hotel becuase I was already looking at 11 hours stand time.

Called road side and customer service ia was promised that I would get compensated on my time wasted and hotel stay, which was not the case. The new truck had problems aswell, I finally arrived to my destination at 12 am Friday the 6th of November, This has been the worse experience I have ever had. Budget is a scam and they dont give you what they promise.

There customer service team are one of the worse I have ever encountered. Further more I will not recommened this company to anyone.

my reference for the buget truck rent is 1808123886602.

i reserve it online on august 28 , friday for 10.am.

when i go to the office to take the reserve truck , there is no any truck.

the buget charge me 50 doller. eventhough i have not used the truck.

i call the customer service and one lady said , "sorry sir , this is our mistake. we will return money to your credit card. wait for 5/6 days". todays is 15th day but here is no any sign of returning money.

this is the worst experience of my life. if they cant provide the truck then why they say we are here. i request any body not to rent this truck. first of all you dont get the truck, if you get the truck then that will not be the one you reserve,, sometime small or sometimes large. if you dont get the truck then they will charge you the money . when you call the customer service then they say " sorry sir will will return money" but they dont return. they are absolutely fake.

please dont rent the buget truck. please any body, dont rent the truck. please any body dont rent the buget truck.if you reserve you will be in trouble.

Budget Truck Rental 1

My wife and I recently moved across the country from Iowa City (Iowa) to Portland (Oregon). We got a good rate on a 24 foot truck with a platform hitch and it worked just fine. However, when I realized that we were going to need an extra day, due to an unexpected hospital visit, I called the Iowa City location to make arrangements. The person I spoke to told me that I could extend my rental for $60 per day plus coverage ($40/day) and that. and here is where it gets interesting, "IF I RETURNED IT EARLY, I WOULD NOT BE CHARGED FOR THE DAYS I DID NOT USE." Wow, was that a LIE. I only found this out when I got my bank statement, called the Iowa City location, and called the Budget corporate number. Of course, the first person I spoke to said that he did not have it within his power to issue me a refund of any sort and that I should talk to the location where I rented it in the first place. Funny, this is exactly what the Iowa City location told me (prompting me to call the corporate number. The corporate representative then informed me that he would make a note on my account and I would receive a call in the next two days. Two weeks later, I called back. After waiting for 15 minutes I got to talk to a person who again told me that it was not within their power to issue a refund and they would make a note of urgency on my account to prompt a call-back. Again, no call-back ever occurred. Another two weeks later, I called back yet again. After speaking to the woman for about 25 minutes, explaining that it was not my fault that the Iowa City location did not properly train its employees before placing them on the floor or at the phones, I was offered $120 of the $200 that I was scammed. I accepted this, begrudging the company for it's shady practices and procrastination based protocols which are apparently, literally, written into their customer service manual. The funniest thing is, the extra $80 which I let go went to an insurance company, which was apparently not Budget. The customer service representative, who was, after everything, able to issue a refund, was not able to tell me the name of the insurance company which worked with Budget of Iowa City.

So, in synthesis, let us review my recommendations when dealing with this truly American (as in composed of a bunch of money grubbing charlatans who don't know their assholes from their elbows because such data is not in their manual) company:

#1 Get any transaction in writing or, better yet, in writing with accompanying audio or video recording.
-this way, when they claim that they cannot verify if any of their employees "accidentally" misrepresented their company policies you can rub their face is their delicately worded pile of bullshit.
-also, document your rental. If you think you might have missed a few things on the initial inspection, a visual recording of a close inspection could be invaluable.

#2 Get in and get out. It's better to spend $40 on a tarp to cover your belongings on your lawn, than try to work out a more convenient solution with this jury-rigged "company".

#3 Don't believe anything but what is in writing. If they say, "don't worry about it" in reference to anything that is a tactic created to try and get you to fuck up while making them seem more amiable and customer "friendly". Everything should be noted, even things that have been fixed already. If there is the slightest ding in the fender or the windshield has already been fixed once it should be noted.

#4 The Better Business Bureau is there to help you. They have a range of dollar values which dictate the level of their involvement. Essentially, if your grievance is $200 or more, they will seriously go to bat for you. Scammers such as Budget hate the BBB because their shit doesn't wash clean. Red flags of a scam are inherent in the Budget company structure. To list a few, misinformed employees, policies of neglect and procrastination, oddly long or short wait times for customer service, dissociation between corporate headquarters and individual locations, and separation of service providers are all in the Budget company profile.

#5 Make a note of the name (first and last) of everyone you speak to or "helps" you and the time and date of said interactions.
-This will be useful for the BBB.

I hope this helps you have a smoother interaction than I had with these fuck heads. Good Luck!

Budget is a scam. We recently moved to a new home in the same town (only 3 miles away). We knew that the truck rental would be expensive, but I can't believe the hidden fees they slammed us with. My boyfriend was driving the truck, but I was in the office with him when he signed the papers. And - guess what - when we received our bill they had billed us for an additional driver. I never drove the truck, but it didn't matter...

Insurance isn't a flat rate, it's per day (watch for these fees). We were also slammed with a "youthful driver" fee, which was never mentioned when we asked about additional fees associated with the rental. These people are scammers, and their customer service fed us canned answers when we tried to dispute the charges: "Sorry folks, it's already in the computer" and "I don't make the rules."

The bill rang up at $100 more than we'd calculated. We've learned our lesson, but we'll never rent from Budget again.

Absolutely a nightmare experience! The promised truck was not available and a larger one was substituted, which meant increased fuel costs. The attitude of the franchisee as well as the national customer service representative was flippant, inappropriate, and unprofessional. Worst of all...truck was infested with fleas! The flea battle (and costs incurred to flight fleas) is ongoing. I would never rent from this company again and recommend that no one else rent from them either.

By far one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I needed a truck to go from the Poconos to Philadelphia. I called/visited every truck rental company in Philly and the neighboring suburbs, as well as up in the Poconos and spent 3 hours trying to locate a truck to move. I had 1 day to get this furniture, otherwise it was going to someone else. After having no luck finding a truck in either region, I decided to try other large cities. Hours later I found a Budget truck 100 miles away. "Fine, I'll take it." The representative told me her computer wasn't working and to reserve it online. I did, and after taking my credit card information, I was provided with a confirmation number.

90 minutes and 100+ miles later I am standing in an empty Budget Rental parking lot. There are no trucks and no employees. The office is closed, and has no hours written on the door or windows, so I follow the instructions on the only sign I can find, and I call 1-800-GO BUDGET. I get Robert the most worthless peon on Planet Earth. I inform Robert that after driving 100+ miles to pick up the truck I had confirmed was here, and had reserved, the was no trace of either a truck or Budget employee. Robert suggested he take down my information and have a service manager call me back the next day. I reminded Robert I had 1 day to make this move, tomorrow I would be back to work and the opportunity would be gone, as well, I had already driven 100 miles to pick up a truck that was not here, and suggested he track down an employee of this location and get them here with a truck.

Robert advised me he couldn't track down an employee of that location, he also informed me he was too busy to call around to other locations and track down a truck for me. After another 10 minutes on the phone, all we had established was that Robert was either too inept or completely unwilling to provide any kind of solution, other than having someone call me back tomorrow...he might as well have been an answering machine. He did however, advise me that reserving a truck online, in no way legally obligated Budget Rentals to have said truck or any other in the location for pickup at the time of reservation...a line he seemed to have recited from memory time and time again.

I asked to be transfered to a supervisor, manager, owner or Budget Rental trucks...anyone in a higher position of authority. Robert refused to transfer me, advising me that there was nobody else who could/would help me. I finally threatened with the Better Business Bureau, to which Robert ended the call, informing me one last time, that none of this was his problem.

Even better, even after U-haul saved the day (another story), 24 hours later, I sit here and write this, I just got off the phone with 1-800-GO BUDGET again. Requesting to speak with a supervisor, I was informed I could only speak with a level-2 "escalation agent", but that they were too busy at this time, and would have to call me back.

My experience with Budget rental truck was upsetting, to say the least. On our last 2.5 hour leg of our 6 hour trip, the temperature gage on the truck went all the way up, then the =Check Gages light came on at the same time as the Check Engine light came on, after shaking and smoke, I pulled over to the side of the highway. I had hoped the truck was simply overheated, but that wasn't the case. After holding for road side assistance for over half hour, we were told it would be another 2.5 hours before road side assistance could get there. My friend was driving my vehicle and I was driving the truck. We were stranded on the side of a busy highway, yet in the middle of nowhere with no open gas stations around for a total of about 3.5 hours, from 1:20 AM til close to 5 AM. I was told I may have to move all of my stuff in the truck to another truck from the truck towing destination, which is when I reminded the road side assistant worker that I was a single lady and had to have help loading the truck, there was no way I could unload that truck with just my friend and I. He told me that the truck had to be towed, and that the radiator was something that really should have been taken care of a long time ago as it is preventative maintenance. We were to wait for a call from a Budget Rep the next (same) morning. At 9AM I get a call with a rep asking me if I knew where my truck was been towed. Do you know where they towed it to? Should not have known where they towed my truck with all of my stuff in it to?? Long story short, they did tow the truck again to my destination and allowed me to get my things to my new home. They towed the truck back to the repair location. It took me 3 days to try and close the truck. Though most of the workers were actually present, their lack of attempting to take realistic financial responsibility towards me as a customer, was completely lacking. I was told there would be no further charges for the towing. When I contacted the customer service department, I was given a 15% discount for my inconvenience. Being stranded on the side of the highway on a weekend night was more than an inconvenience, it was a safety issue. You cant replace human life as well as you can a radiator.. they certainly couldve been more decent.. as to, as far as I, the customer, am concerned, they did not complete the transaction as expected on their end.

On 8/6/2009, I reserved a 16' truck to move from Florence, KY to Brownsburg, IN. I picked up truck 442281 on 8/9/2009 at 10:20 from Richwood Flea Market in Walton, KY. I drove the truck to Florence, KY, and proceeded loading my belongings. After loading was completed, we headed to Brownsburg, IN. We stopped in Hebron, KY, for some food when I noticed the gas gauge was on empty. At this point we had traveled only 20 miles. Since the man in Walton said the truck was full, I assumed the gas gauge must've been broken, but I tried putting gas in it as a precautionary. The truck took 28.057 gallons which cost me $75.73. I called the man in Walton to explain what was going on. "That's bizarre," he said, "we had two other trucks that were empty this morning as well." He said to present my receipt when I drop off the truck and I would get a refund for the gas. After unloading in Brownsburg, I dropped the truck off at Glass and Mirrors Etc in Indianapolis (full of gas). It was closed for the evening. On Monday, 8/10/09, I drove back to the dealer in Indianapolis to get the situation resolved, but he claimed he couldn't do anything. He said I would have to call their customer service line. (He also attempted to charge me $10 for an after-hours drop-off, even though I dropped the truck off two days early. Read the fine print, he told me.) On Wednesday, 8/12/09, I reached the customer service line. After explaining to her a few times what had taken place (I don't think English was her native language), she contacted Walton to verify my story. They claimed I was only owed $28. I explained again that I put 28.057 GALLONS in the truck which cost 75.73 DOLLARS. She asked that I fax her a copy of the receipt to 918-660-7169. Less than an hour later I faxed the recept to the number she provided, which tacked another $1.66 to this ordeal. That same day, I sent an e-mail detailing these problems. I sent another a few days later. I've gotten no responses to my phone call/e-mails and obviously no reimbursment. Budget's customer service from beginning to end was poor, to say the least. I would have a hard time dealing with them ever again.

For a large company they are very small time. I rented a 10 ft truck in Brewster NY to drive to Sterling Va and drop it off. The truck was an old clanking piece of junk that I thought would come apart with every pot hole I hit. When I returned this truck in Va I filled it up until the gasoline shut off, but this was not good enough for the women at the return. She said the line didn't completely go past the full line, even though I explained to her that this was how I got it and it was full. She insisted we drive to the same gas station I had just filled the truck from. Despite the nozzle shutting off repeatably she kept trying to jam more and more gas into the tank. Finally when it could take no more gas and it was coming back out she went to see the gas station attendant to find out why it wouldn't take even more gas. Both the gas station attendant and myself tried to explain to her repeatably that she was overfilling the tank and with the temp at about 98 degrees this was dangerous. She refused to listen and again tried to push more gasoline into the tank. so with the amount she spilled and pushed into the overfull tank she was able to get an extra $5.22. I paid and was glad to leave this loon of a women. Needless to say I will never rent anything from budget again

my advice is stay away from this company.

I was the lucky one whose truck was available for a decent rate. Unfortunately, 40 miles into the trip, the truck caught fire. We were able to pull over and put out the flames and none of our belongings were damaged. We called roadside and they were very polite and hada tow truck out to us in about 45 mins. They towed it back to the pickup location and after 5 hours of looking for a new truck and a moving company to swap loads, i was told by road side, customer service and the lovely girl behind the counter in Livonia that i would be reimbursed for our troubles. What a classy company. I was very impressed that they said that they would take care of us. Thank you Neisha and Rickey. The second truck was able to get us down from Detroit to Indianapolis with no problems. When I dropped it off, the guy behind the counter of the dropoff place said the reimbursement should be on my credit card within 3 business days. so 3 days later there was nothing there and I called customer service. A very rude and unsympathetic Sharon said she had to investigate and call back. No call back. The next call was to Mark. No record of any issues but he would call back. Nothing. The next call was to Rody, she said that she could offer me a small reimbursement but that was not enough to cover the food we lost or the face of the dresser that the movers destroyed. Nor was it the amount promised to me by road side, customer service or the girl at the pickup location. So she gave me a number to a "level 2 customer service" because supervisors cannot come to the phone. She gave me the number to an abortion clinic. Nice. So then I got online to find the Level 2 customer service that seems not to exist when i stumbled across this site. Then I called Kevin and asked for a supervisor, still arent allowed to take phone calls. really? why the heck not? So he then told me that according to his records i did not accept the small refund that they offered. Ohhh, you have that on record but nothing stating my account ever existed or the fact that the truck caught fire in the first 2 phone calls to customer service. So since it seems that i will go nowhere with this company, i accepted the small reimbursement and fully expect a fuel charge even though i returned it with more fuel that i recieved with the truck. Luckily I have the reciept for that. I hope to god I never have to move again and if I do, I know who I will not call. Roadside was very pleasant and helpful. So was Rickey at the Livonia MI location. She went out of her way to give us the attention and sympathy regarding the situation. But Customer Service and everyone involved there is a complete joke. And the supervisors are cowards.

We rented a truck over a month in advance in order to drive across country. Our entire trip (hotels, stops, and employment) was predicated on the truck. On the day of pick up, I called Budget to let them know we were running about 1/2 hour late on the pick up. At that time, the salesperson responded with, "Oh, I meant to call you. Your truck is broken and we don't have another 24' in the region for you. Sorry." At that time I called the main Budget number and after a 17 minute holding period, spoke with a customer representative who informed me that managers do not take customer phone calls and a Budget truck reservation is only a reservation, not a guarantee. Oh, and sorry for the inconvenience.

We rented a moving truck and a car trailer to haul one of our vehicles. Halfway through our long trip one of the tires on the trailer blew out. When they sent someone out to fix it, the tire technician advised us that two other tires on the trailer were about to blow, but he only had one tire with him. So we went on our way with two other bad tires. Eventually we had to stop about 300 miles from our destination and have the other two tires fixed. We were somewhat hopeful because they told us they would most likely be able to give us a discount. When we called in to get our discount they told us they would only be able to refund $15!! Only $15 for an unsafe trailer that 75% of the tires on it were bad, for losing 5-6 hours of our time, and for the bad gas milage that we had while we were on the bad tires!!! Once we did get new tires the gas milage was decent. I forgot to mention, that everytime we called in to get some help we were on hold for like 20 minutes. We learned our lesson; Never rent BUDGET again!!

I rented a 10ft Truck from Chicago to New York. Everything was alright on the move, or seemed to be, until a week later when I noticed a $62 charge I did not expect on my credit card from them. Turns out that they charged me a $52 refuelling fee and a $10 after hours fee. I have a receipt for $9 and change from a gas station less than a mile away that was me topping the tank off before I dropped it off, however when I told customer service this they said that the drop off company has an equally valid receipt for $22 for gas and I will not be refunded anything. The $10 is apparently in my contract in the fine print, though when I asked the representative in Chicago if I could drop it off after hours he just said "yeah sure" without any mention of this extra charge. The $10 I can understand paying but $52 when I have a receipt proving I actually did top the tank off??

Do not do business with Budget. They seem cheaper than UHaul but they will squeeze it out of you in other, far more frustrating ways. I'll do UHaul from now on.

I wish there was an option for Molotav cocktails - I would've given them five flaming cocktails! I had such a difficult time with Budget. I moved from TX to MI and rented a 20' truck and trailer. When I called to get my deposit back the office in MI had no idea that I had even put a deposit down. Additionally, when I tried to straighten the mess out I coudln't reach anyone from Budget. I think that they live in an elaborate tunnel system built underneath their storefronts and that they only answer to telegrams and carrier pigeons. It's now been over two months and I still haven't had this situation resolved.

If I could give Budget negative stars, I would.

I rented a truck in Ankeny, Iowa at the end of May for a 6 day move across the country to California.

It rains quite a bit in Iowa, and when I say rain, I mean monsoon. My boyfriend and I loaded the truck right before torrential rains hit. My goods were then loaded safely - and dryly - and not unpacked for the next 6 days.

When we arrived in Califorina, we were so proud of ourselves and packing job - nothing broken, nothing shifted. However, when we began to near the front of the loaded truck, we noticed how many things were wet. And not just wet - SOAKING. Including a black leather sectional couch, full size bed, and other furniture and personal effects. By this point, the furniture pads had leeched all over the couch, and it was beginning to mold. There were dime-sized holes all over the front of the truck, partially covered by now flapping duct tape. (When we picked up the truck and loaded it, we assumed they were just holding up the wiring.)

We stopped unloading the truck, took digital photos of everything, and began the most ridiculous process ever for filing a claim - including spending more than 6 hours on hold during various phone calls.

One month later, the claim has still not been resolved. Customer service is terrible, and even with a claims 'specialist' assisting me - and me asking for her supervisor - her supervisor refuses to give me the name of anyone I can speak to that can HELP with the situation. This is in the face of more than $2,500 in damage.

Budget has not once apologized or acted remorseful in any way. In fact, when I called the supervisor for the claims department, he told me how overwhelmed they were. After reading these posts, I understand why!! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR - DO NOT RENT FROM BUDGET TRUCK!

If only I could give Budget zero stars I would. They really suck. It took me an hour to get the truck that was sitting right in front of the rental office, even though I had reserved and paid for it days before. The attendant in charge of the facility was new, untrained and not very smart. She had to keep calling her boss on the phone to find out how to enter info on the computer, in between taking cell phone calls from her kids while I stood there waiting. I must have heard a dozen times, "I'm new here, sorry". I didn't ask why she was there alone if she didn't know the job. I guess her boss had something more important to do than run her business. I had also reserved a car trailer, which I had to drive two towns and a half hour away to get hooked up to the 16 footer I had rented. They had no business telling me a 16 foot truck could pull a car trailer without overheating; I had to drive 1200 miles to Florida with no air conditioning, just to keep the piece of s__t on the road! I rented it from:

STORAGE TODAY AT BORDENTOWN
1007 RT. 206 NORTH
BORDENTOWN, NJ 08505
(609) 298-2025

What really galls me, though, is that they never told me I'd be charged for not folding the moving blankets they rented me! When I dropped the truck off at the Florida location, they told me to go out in 95 degree heat and fold 24 moving blankets, or they'd charge me $30. I refused, figuring I'd straighten it out with Budget's "customer service". Wrong! The first rep I talked to was very nice, and told me she'd never heard of anything so ridiculous, but the agency hadn't closed the account yet, so she couldn't do anything. Next day I called back, and this time another rep said I was charged legitimately, even though she could not tell me where I could find the clause about re-folding blankets (it's not in the rental agreement) , nor why I was never told about being charged beforehand. So Budget's service people don't know the rules, no one at the rental agency knew about them (Monica, the owner of Storage Today, said she'd never heard of it, but that apparently isn't her fault!), but I'm supposed to know , presumably through ESP.

On top of it all, the people at the drop-off facility lied to the Budget people, saying I was abusive and cursed at them, which is a bunch of BS. They also said the truck was dirty, yet when I dropped it off, the blankets were the only thing they mentioned. Not a word about cleaning the truck. Which, come to think of it, is ridiculous in itself; you pay $1500 to rent a truck and they want you to clean it for them, too! Maybe I should have washed and waxed it, and rotated the tires, too. The facility I dropped it off at is:

PAK N FAX
8540 NAVARRE PARKWAY
NAVARRE FL 32566
(850) 939-1514

If you like being treated like dirt, and screwed royally, then by all means do business with Budget and its agents. If you feel you should be treated with respect and your business appreciated, then steer clear of all the aforementioned shysters. My next communication will be with the Better Business Bureau.

We reserved a truck 4 days in advance of our move. The afternoon before the move, Budget called to say they had no truck for us...of ANY TYPE. No effort to find us one, or to do anything about it. I called Budget headquarters and (after over 30 minutes (NO EXAGGERATION!) on hold) when I said I had a reservation with confirmation and credit card hold, she said "You reserved a price, not a truck". I am not sure what that can possibly mean. I walk into a Budget Truck rental place and say "Yes, I reserved a price for today."
Ridiculous. Unhelpful, unprofessional. I called UHAUL and was helped immediately. More expensive ($10 more) but I actually reserved a truck, not just a price.

The downfall is the trailers weigh about 1500lbs more, are much longer, and are harder to tow cross country through mountains, but we accepted it. While I was pulling the empty trailer we hit something on the ground the actually bent the rim so the tire would not hold air. We tried to replace it but they use a very unique rim which no one in Wisconsin carried. We sat on hold with budget for over an hour trying to find out how to get the rim fixed.....they were rude and offered no help. They wanted us to pull the trailer around our area to numerous garages so the rim could be checked to see if anyone carried one, (keep in mind they track mileage). No one anywhere had one. We called the shop, in Appleton Wi, where we rented from and told the guy we would be returning the trailer and settle the bill for the rim. He was very reluctant to accept the trailer after not doing anything to help us or even call us back. Long story short the lady in Misssouri where we returned the truck had a hard time dealing with the man in WI and getting the charge for the trailer taken off was very difficult. We ended up leaving Wi a day late and without one of our vehicles. I would never rent from Budget again. Customer service was terrible.

BE CAREFUL RENTING FROM:

BUDGET OF ATHENS
1870 WEST BROAD STREET
ATHENS, GA 30606

The lady by the name Lynn is very charmingl until the point of sale but she is very dishonest in her business.

I booked a 10 foot truck and when I called customer service they said it is only a quote and not a booking. I went to the place three times to ensure the 10ft truck has been book. She assured everything is fine. When I went to collect the truck they was not 10 ft but a 16ft which was way too big. Subsequently, I realized from customer service that she had only checked a quote and not done a reservation.

I believe Budget of Athens lack integrity and providing a good customer service. A bad example of doing business.

In short:
-cancels reservations the night before your move with no explanation
-charges you a cancellation fee when they cancel on you
-the absolute worst - do NOT rent from Budget!

I reserved a 17' truck from Budget Truck Rental on George St in New Haven, CT. Despite my reservation being made over 5 weeks in advance of my scheduled move and confirming it twice with the local company the week of my move, I received a phone call at 6:30PM the night before my move telling me that there were no trucks available. Apparently, A RESERVATION GUARANTEES YOU ABSOLUTELY NOTHING with this company, as I was told there were no trucks in the area, that they had contacted other local Budget truck rentals and none were available. No explanation was given after repeated questioning on my part. I ended up having to frantically search around for a truck the evening before my move when most companies were closed and/or booked given the late notice. I had movers coming the next morning that I had also reserved a month in advance that I was in jeopardy of losing and also being charged for since I could not cancel them.

I also was charged a $50 cancellation fee that I had to call and get refunded (no questions were asked when I called, but I can't believe they even tried to charge me!).

I ended up getting a trailer to tow from U-Haul that just happened to be available the morning of my move.

Thanks Budget for causing me extreme stress, a sleepless night and and the slap in the face for trying to charge me for it!

Budget Truck Rental is the worst. I have moved multiple times and this is the worst experience I have ever had. I rented a 17' moving truck for a Saturday and called to confirmed it was there on Friday. I was told by the person on the phone that I better arrive early because Budget typically overbooks so that if you arrive later in the day your truck will be gone. I arrived at 8:33am (they opened at 8:30am) and was told there was no truck but I would be put on a wait list and called when a truck became available. No one called me so I called every hour after 12pm. No truck was available until Sunday and they called at 12:30pm to tell me a truck was available but it was over 20 miles away. After having dealt with them the previous day I called the local place to verify the truck was there and she said it was but they close at 1pm on Sunday. I called back to say I still needed truck but never heard back from them again. So you can imagine my rage when I saw two $50 charges from them hit my account. When I called they said it was an automated charge for not picking up the truck, a no show. I couldn't believe they had the nerve to say that. Customer service is non existent.

DO NOT RENT A TRUCK FROM:

RENT A WRECK
201 DONELSON PIKE
NASHVILLE, TN 37214
800-806-4925
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This little hole in the wall Budget location is a dump. On top of that they are dishonest with their billing and will charge you for things after you turn in the truck that were NOT TRUE OR DISCLOSED.

I filled the gas up until it was dripping out of the tank (far more than what was in there when I got it) and they charged me $40.00. I didn't FOLD THE MATS and they charged me $20.00. They claimed it was dirty and charged me for that. AM I PAYING THEM TO CLEAN THEIR TRUCK?!?!

Please, whatever you do, never give that business any of your money!!!!!! Don't even go there. It's filthy and stinks of bad business.

Budget charges you with lots of hidden fees or with unexplained ones. Don't fool with the price during the quote. They don't say anything about insurance price, tax and additional driver fees during the quote. You learn these once you are charged.

Budget Truck rental is terrible...they will charge your card even if they don't have the truck you reserved. I reserved a truck a week in advance thru the budget website...and when I went to pick it up at the public storage in arlington, wa...they said they didnt have 10ft trucks..never have. Even the public storage worker says they hate budget and are trying to "dump them". I will never rent from Budget again and I would encourage anyone to stear clear of them. They are crooks. I didnt cancel or no-show... but they still charged me. They are supposed to refund the $50 cancellation fee they charged me, their customer service people say it can take up to 4 weeks!
Budget sucks...rent a U-haul if you need a truck.

I had a TERRIBLE experience with Budget Truck Rental from Upstate Auto Group on Ash Road in Vestal, NY. I reserved a truck, received an E-mail confirmation and even called the day before to confirm. When I arrived, they had no truck for me and didn’t give a damn. I spoke to Upstate Auto Group’s owner, who was not only unapologetic, he was rude and condescending. I called Budget’s 1-800 customer service number who also didn’t care, but at least she cancelled the truck (which Upstate Auto should have done) so I wouldn’t be charged a $50 cancellation fee. I went to U-Haul on Vestal Parkway, who had a truck and gave me an excellent price. DO NOT use Upstate Auto Group for anything, especially a moving truck rental. YOU WILL BE SCREWED!!

OMG!!! you choose them because of they have a military discount, big mistake! it doesn't even matter because they charge you up the ass for some many other things! they charged me and my husband so many hidden fees and surcharges when their website clearly states that military personal travling on orders won't be surcharged certian fees. we have been going back and forth for now 3 weeks trying to clear this up and it is absolutley ridicilous. i will NEVER reccomend this place to anyone, we were quoted one price and after we got the truck it was nearly double!!!!!!!!! beware of this place and go somewhere else.

I did not have a good experience with Budget Truck rental and would advise against using them.
I was scheduled to move on the last day of the month and had reserved my truck well in advance. When I arrived to pick up the truck, I was informed that the Budget Rental computer system had gone down Nationwide so therefore they said they could not give me a truck. They had no other information, such as when it might come back up again, and they offered no backup solution such as taking my information down manually or handwriting a contract. It was really quite pathetic.

I then called the main Budget Rental Number to see if there was anything that could be done. An exception, manual contract, etc. The customer service person I got was EXTREMELY rude when I asked how long they expected the system to be down, and offered no solution, no apology and no explanation. I next asked to speak to his supervisor, who was even more rude. He asked me for my agreement number to pull up the records. I asked him, how exactly are you going to pull up my records if your system is down nationwide? This must have just pissed him off more because he snapped back at me, that they were on a different system and that Budget Rental did not guarantee ANY of it's reservations. So basically they told me tough $hit, lady.. we don't care that you hired movers or would loose money because of them $ucking a$$.
I bitched at them a bit more until I was put on hold at which time, I hung up on them. Luckily I was able to rent an Enterprise van instead for my move.

I do not recommend budget truck for one way trip planners. Though the customer service guys promises and even confirms you for one way rental, while you go to pickup the reservation would be changed to make it two way. As you have no other option rather to pick up due to the prior arrangements made for moving the reservation had to be taken up.

I have booked for one way and unlimited miles over phone which was changed two way and with 80miles free. And anything would be extra cost upon that. The guys at the following pickup location were rude and are not customer friendly.
MOVING CHICAGO LLC
2241 N ELSTON AVE
CHICAGO, IL 60614
(773) 252-0298

The truck was delivered to us late by 1hour and further due to the reservation change the truck had to be returned to the same location which was very painful, driving back 40miles to the location and additional gas cost. My experience with budget truck rental was terrible.

I will NEVER again use Budget! My husband and I were moving to another state and needed to rent the mid-size moving truck and a car carrier. I made the reservation for both a few weeks in advance, got the comfirmation e-mail, and called a day or two before to verify both were going to be there. Everything was fine until we went to pick up. The truck was the correct one, but instead of a car carrier, it was a dolly (which I did not want, but was willing to use since we had to leave that day). The problem with that was that my car would not go on the dolly without damage to both and the people at this certain location basically said, oh well. They said the car would go on the carrier, but even though I had called and they said they had one, they were mistaken. I had to call customer service and tell them that even though their stupid little book told them my car would go on it, there was no way. I was fed up and after calling several Budgets that would be on our way, we found one 3 hours into the trip that had a carrier. That was the only relief from all the crap we had to deal with. Once getting that taken care of things went smoothly on the trip (which was about a day and a half) until we went to turn the truck in. Lets just say keep the gas reciept from when you fill it up before turning in the truck, they will try to scam you out of any money they can. Not to mention that we moved while I was almost 9 months pregnant, which made the move a little more difficult than it probably would have been and I did not need that extra stress to deal with. NEVER again!

The representatives lie about mileage rates on the truck and when I inquired about the extra charge she said call customer service. That was a joke, the customer service person was a jerk and sorry about your luck we don't give any free miles, BUT the representative at budget told me .99 a mile after 25 miles. The cost is not that mush but I feel if a company is dishonest in it's dealing with it's customers, it deserves to lose all of them This company does not deserve any stars

like the last reviewer, i think 1 star is too high.

had a reservation online at a satellite site, only to find out they had no such truck available the day i showed up (which the representative said was typical). got an upgrade for same price but upon return was charged $43 for fueling charges even though the tank was full and i had even replaced the small amount of fuel (14 miles worth) i had used. called them up and they were completely useless even though i had the evidence i needed to dispute. their argument was that i was supposed to go by the amount of fuel visible in the tank instead of the fuel gauge which were both FULL when i left the truck. even called budget truck corporate and they were equally as useless, giving me absolutely no credit for any of my claim, saying they'd have to discuss it with the dealer (and we all know where that goes). well now they have to deal with amex who will undoubtedly see through this mess, but i'll gladly pay more money to not use this company ever again. filing a complaint with the bbb is a great idea as well.

PLEASE, & PLEASE TRUST ME - DON'T USE BUDGET !!! -- ZERO RATING

I am an active military member. I trusted Budget Truck Rental on my PCS move a few months ago. Many problems: The car dolly broke down. They replaced it, but after driving 30 minutes to another location that had a different car towing unit that wasn't the one I initially rented, in other words, a downgrade. Decided to return the truck & equipment on a different location, of course, calling their "Customer Service" staff first complying with my responsibility of providing w/ enough notification in advance. They accepted the change in the returning location because of the inconvenience that we had with the towing unit at first. After returning it, I called them once again to make sure I was clear w/ them. They responded that they will get the "clear" from that returning location (Budget authorized, of course) a day or two later. A day or two later I called again, their computer showed that I returned the whole package (truck & towing unit) making clear that nothing further was needed from me. After that, BUDGET SENT ME TO THEIR COLLECTION AGENCY CLAIMING OVER $700, FOR A UNIT THEY NOW CLAIM THAT "WASN'T RETURNED", after their so CUSTOMER DIS-ORIENTED staff closed the agreement, did not refunded the difference of the towing unit downgrade, and did not refunded the balance of the deposit as agreed.

This is such an aggravating inconvenience I truly do not wish that happen to any of you reading this maybe inquiring for some feedback of this company before deciding to make business with this people. Please don't, please. Nowadays, a lot of people are trying their best to sneak some extra money, affecting honest people that trust a name wrongfully; not expecting this kind of aggravation.

Never use budget. I booked on line two weeks ago and call the local budget office(the one in Nashua) 48hr ago to confirm it. When I went to pick up the truck, they said they dont have the truck there. So I told them that I booked it online and confirm it day before. She said that the head office does not always let them know of the booking. So I asked her then how come you didn't tell me when I call you yesterday. She simply said that she is sorry. So I end up renting it from UHAUL, which is great. Next day, I call the head office of budget and complain them about this incident and they simply said that they don't gurantee a truck when you book on line. Then what is the point of having this stupid system.

A lousy experience all around. The truck I rented leaked in the rain and later I found out that the maintenance people couldn't find the problem so they rented it out again (I hope it doesn't rain when the next person has it full of stuff). What really got to me was the terrible customer service. While siting in the cargo space watching the steady drip of water I spent 3 hours on the phone trying to get someone to do something, anything to get me a working truck. I spent most of that time on hold and was passed to 3 roadside assistance people and 2 customer service people. I took several calls later that week and another 5 or 6 customer service people (2 dropped while on hold) to be told that because a maintenance guy, that no one could seem to actually get a hold of, said everything was fine, there was nothing I could do. Their notes were full of errors and no one seemed to actually have an accurate record of what had actually happened. Budget may offer a good price up front but you'll end up paying in the end!

ZERO RATING! I have been trying to get a refund from this company for a mistake they made on my bill for 3 months now. I've went through the better business bureau who has been working with me for a month on this. I've also went through my bank who is working on this for me for 2 months. Trust me, I tried doing it the civilized way, too by calling their customer service department first. What a bigger joke! I sent them all the info they wanted, waited a week like they said only to call back and be told they lost it so I had to re-fax it. Then when I re-faxed it and waited another 7 days I was told their fax queue was full so I had to re-fax it again and wait another 7-14 days. The company's advocate called me on Aug 8th apologizing for the problem and said they were issuing a refund that day. Then the better business contacted them again when I hadn't recieved it and they said they issued it on August 16th. Now, on September 5th, I still have no refund and supposidly they "refunded the refund" - LOL! And I STILL don't have my refund! Just one game after another! But they did offer me a free days rental for a car - whoopty doo! They are insane if they think I will EVER do business or give them my credit card information EVER again. NEVER! This place is a joke and they will take your money and you won't ever see it again - even if you are in the right and do everything by the book like we did. Go somewhere else - read the reviews - it's not worth the headache and could cost you a lot more than just going with another company in the first place!

I placed a reservation with Budget through the online system weeks in advance. I called the pickup location and confirmed the pickup time and information a few days before the scheduled rental. Less than an hour before I was supposed to pickup the vehicle, I was informed by the local agent that they did not have my truck, there was nothing they could do, and that I needed to call the 1-800 number.

Through the "regional lack-of-service center" I was offered a truck in a different city that was much larger than the one I had reserved. I voiced my hesitation to accept the larger truck because I did not think it would fit at the location. I was informed by the agent that it was the smallest truck in my area, it was last truck of its size in the area, and that I had 30 minutes to decide and call them back about the truck, after which they would make it available for others to rent.

If I decided to take the truck, it would require driving an extra 34 miles on the rental truck plus an extra 68 miles on the vehicle dropping me off / picking me up, for which I was offered a net compensation of $9.44 rental credit. When I expressed how ridiculous that was, I was informed that it was generous. I did not take the rental and am glad because someone with a UHaul truck of a similar size became stuck while trying to enter my apartment complex.

At NO time was I offered an explanation as to why my original reservation was unavailable.

At NO time was I offered assistance in making an alternate reservation to meet my needs with another company. After all, it was moving day, the computers, phone books etc. were packed...

When I asked for the closest location that had a truck of the appropriate size, I was told that it was 45 miles away. When I asked if that truck could be brought to my local pickup location, I was told NO.

When I called customer service to complain about the fact that I had to make a walk-in rental with a competitor at nearly twice the daily rate, I was offered no compensation. I was offered no payment (like UHaul's $50 cash) for their failure to keep the reservation.

I was not offered a credit towards a future rental, although I am confident I will never consider using them again.

I was offered an apology letter, but what is the point of wasting paper when the reality is they have no idea what they are doing, no plans to change anything to prevent this from happening in the future, and no regard for their customers.

After all of this, they charged me a $50 cancellation fee and I had to call to have it corrected.

I reserved a Budget truck about 45 days in advance. About a week before I was to pick up the truck, I arranged to have 5-6 friends/neighbors come over to help me load my truck about 90 minutes after I was scheduled to pick up the truck. Two days before my reservation time, I got a call from the local pick-up place telling me they had no truck for me and wondering how flexible my schedule was in picking up the truck. Despite telling them I had no flexibility and that is why I made the reservation well in advance, they told me they weren't sure they would have a truck for me. This continued into the next day. I searched online that night and found there were no trucks available in the entire city for the size I needed. The morning of my supposed reservation arrived and still no truck. Then, about fifteen minutes before I was supposed to pick up the truck (and after several calls on my part to Budget's national customer service), the local place called to tell me that they had located a truck in the city and would bring it over and I could pick it up, which I did. They didn't have enough furniture pads (again that I had reserved in advance). Everything else seemed fine until we started on the road with a full 24 foot truck and a car being pulled behind. The A/C did not work the whole 500+ miles of our drive in 90+ degree heat. Since we were already late getting started since they didn't have the truck ready until almost 2 hours after my originally scheduled pick-up time, we didn't have time to stop and figure out the problem. I called customer service after we arrived and they refunded me $38! $38 freaking dollars to bake in a moving truck for over 10 hours. Ridiculous. As I've thought about it, I'm pretty sure they gave me a truck they knew was defective since there was no availability anywhere in the city. Awful company, awful customer service, and awful resolution. Will never use Budget for anything ever again.

Ha! I am a previous customer, but not any more after this third time. The truck overheated for 640 miles and it never went in to overdrive. It ate the gas like crazy. Roadside told me that I should pull over and check the fluids. I did and they were full. Customer service was rude and terrible. I got no where when they wanted me me to file an incident report. What was the point? Seems like nobody believed my experience. Not to mention it was 90 degrees outside the whole trip! I had to keep the heater on to help the truck from blowing up! At least they can do is offer a discounted rental or a refund of part of the rental!

They only guarantee the rate not that the truck you reserved to move!!! Go elsewhere if you want to be sure you have a truck on the day you need it. When I found out the day before that the truck wasnt available they said they'll call back within two hours to let me know if there's one available at near by location. Well, it's been 2 days and I'm still "waiting" for thier call. And on top of that, the customer service person was totally rude and didnt even apologize! She told me to read the fine print, like I'm the stupid one to expect the truck that I reserved a month before to actually be there on that day.. I know, cracy me. We went to Penske instead who actually guarantees the truck when you make the reservaiton.

I wish I had seen these reviews **before** I had gone to Budget. Yes, it's all true; the service is awful, the price is 5 times what Penske charges (when you add all the hidden fees). I was in a hurry because we sold our house and the closing was scheduled at the last minute so decided to give Budget a try. Never again. The truck was diesel and when I couldn't find a place to top it off I ended up paying an extra $120.00 for Budget to "top it off." I drove less than 15 miles total. For a one day rental, all fees added up to $214. I had rented a similar truck from Penske 3 months ago and total cost was only $45. Even U-haul is cheaper and better than Budget (and thats saying something).

If I could give Budget Truck Rental ZERO stars, then I would. This is the WORST possible truck rental that you can go to. My husband reserved our truck two weeks prior to our pick-up date. We got to our pick-up location at 8 am where an incompetent employee told us that our truck was not available. No apologies, no offer to help us find a new truck -- NOTHING. When we got there, there were already 2 disappointed customers who didn't have the rentals that they had reserved either. We got no help from their employee whatsoever. We were instructed to call their 1800 number. I was furious, to say the least, and all their customer service operator could tell me was that if you read their contract, they actually DON'T GUARANTEE their reservations. They called us back in around an hour to tell us to pick up our truck at another location. When we got to the 2nd location, we were told that our "reserved" truck had already been taken by somebody else. We evetually found another truck but by then had already lost 3 1/2 hours. This wasn't the end of it though. When we got our new truck, we were asked to pay an amount that was $250 more than our original online reservation. We were told by their customer service that the price adjustment would be done once we returned the truck and that we would be given an extra 15% discount for the inconvenience that they caused us. When we returned the truck (we drove one-way from Chicago to Harrisburg, PA), their employee had no idea about the price adjustment. SIX CALLS and 48 HOURS later, their customer service finally figured out what to do with the price adjustment. And now, 1 week later, I'm still waiting for the price change to reflect in our credit card bill online. I've used Budget's car rental before and never had any complaints but I WILL NEVER USE BUDGET TRUCK RENTAL EVER AGAIN. Just go to UHaul or Penske instead.

Budget Truck Rental 2

This was an awful experience. We were told to drop the truck at a facility that no longer had a contract with Budget. Customer service was incredibly rude. They gave me an address for another drop off location, but they were closed, and I was unable to find directions to this facility w/out first having to go home to research it. Then we were charged $38 for not folding the pads they'd given us to wrap items in. No one had ever mentioned that we needed to fold the pads. We had to call countless times for our deposit to be refunded. Even though there was documentation that we'd paid by credit card, they told us it seemed we paid by cash, and they couldn't refund us cash. Even the supervisors I spoke to were rude and unapologetic. I will never do business with this company again.
