Another one of those food items that smells many times better than it tastes. The alcohol content varies by the brand and price. The good stuff has a brandy or bourbon base. Still wouldn't taste good to a kid.

I've never eaten vanilla extract, but everytime I or someone else cooks with it, I sit there and smell it (it's a guy thing; smelling things that make you go, " whoa, whoa, whoa!").

Horrible taste, although it does pack quite a punch as it is 35% ( 70 Proof) alcohol....Tread lightly when indulging.

Since I had an uncontrollable sweet tooth, I always hung around the kitchen eager to help when my mother baked cakes or candy. I quickly grew fascinated with vanilla extract. I knew it made the sweets taste even better, so I took a swig of it when my mom's back was turned. I nearly spat it out. It tasted like paint thinner.
