Granted the Nobel Committee has in the past given out the award for the most specious of causes, but broadly speaking, it awards accomplishments in major fields of human endeavor. I'm not too sure that all the pop culture pablum on this list does the same.

The degree to which you think it is political is inversely proportional to the degree to which the award recognizes your political beliefs.

The Noble Prize? Some times it is the Ignoble Prize.

In my opinion, anybody who regards this (despite it's acknowledged flaws) as more bogus than any reality show "award" doesn't have an opinion worth hearing.

Seriously folks... On the same list we have Pulitzer, the Nobel and the U.S. Presidency, together with the Big Brother Winner, the Survivor Winner, America's Top Model, the Apprentice Winner and the WWE Hall of Fame. Give me fucking strength, is this the kind of imbecility we've descended to?

Mostly legit, even if some questions have arisen about some who have been awarded it.

Has become about politics, not achievement.

This is definitely not bogus at all, in fact it is great. This is an award you would actually want to recieve.

I do pay attention to this. I think it is a grand idea that they give them out. I think it must be just about the best award to get.
