You never met my friend's cat!UPDATE: Alas he can beg no more. RIP ya filthy beggar.UPDATE AGAIN: So I was adopted by a kitten last month (they choose you, kids) and I've been breaking him of the habit of jumping up in my lap and trying to help himself to whatever I'm eating. So far launching him has been slow going, but he hasn't jumped up the last two times I've had the audacity to eat in his presence, so perhaps he's getting it...

Neither do dogs if they're properly trained, or kept outside. And while its true that cats don't usually beg at the table, its because they just jump up and help themselves.

My cat don't eat human food, therefore she doesn't beg at the dinner table, which is a good quality. Furthermore, she has no reason to beg for anything, because she gets a reasonable amount of food, recommended by the vet, a half a cup in the morning and a half a cup in the evening. She is on a hairball control cat treat, which was also recommended by the vet. All of this is accompanied by a fresh bowl of water every day.

Good old times are gone.My cats has their own room in my house now and I can't let them go in my kitchen any more, because I have a baby boy now.But before that,my cats was always with me.They just to beg at the dinner table, they just to go to toilet with me and they just to go to bed with me(sleeping on my pillow).I love them now like I did before, but my kid is in the 1st place, and his health doesn't allowed me to have cat near him,so they are out... And what I didn't say is that it depends on owner of the cat or dog,do you want them to beg-they will,if you don't-they won't.

When I eat, I am completely surrounded by all 5 cats and my dog. Granted, I *let* them get away with it and haven't trained them not to beg. When I have company for dinner, I have to lock up all the animals in a bedroom.

Some cats can be annoying while you eat, but most dogs beg because their overindulgent and irresponsible owners spoil the beast to much.

my cats don't beg, they jump into my lap while i am eating and start munching the vittles on my plate.

Sometimes they just jump on it.

If this is true it's only because they invite themselves to dinner, with or without your permission. They just jump right onto the table and attempt to help themselves.

You haven't met any of my indoor cats, have you?

I've had a few who did.Of course, this was entirely my fault.I've also seen dogs that are very well behaved in this situation, not many, but some.

well some may not beg for food. but i have known some that hop on the counter and help themselves. guess it depends on how well behaved your cat is. like dogs there are some well behaved ones and naughty ones.
