Chowder 5

This deep-seated loathing for outdoor chowder is a clear indication that not enough people on RateItAll have ever been to a clambake (aka picnicking at its best).

I've never heard of a clambake before... I actually had to Google it!

haha....I was raised in New England. Apparently our traditions are different than those of old England ;)

heehee I like that... "old England" ;) I guess it's technically correct to call it that though

does New England have a traditional Sunday roast dinner? or any traditions which are the same?

erm...I suppose not. Growing up, my family usually ate dinner together on Sunday nights, but rarely a roast.

Lived in mass for over forty years and was born here. I've been to over fifty clambakes and even threw a few myself. Where's my "expert designation"?

With lobsters, oysters, steamers, quahogs, crabs, mussels, scallops, and shrimp, who the hell needs chowdah?

If someone brings chowdah to a clambake, thank them, then use it as chum for stripers.

Stick with the steamers.

True enough. The lack of seafood on this picnic list is disappointing. Coleslaw, ftl.
