The Days Inn in Panama City Beach, FL and Attala, AL are very good. But the one in Paducah, KY is one of the worst. Dirty rooms-they've got them! Deadbolt locks that don't quite lock-they"ve got those too, at least in room 122. But the worst part of our stay was on our 4th day there. We left our room about 11:30am. Around 1:30pm my husband returned to pick up something and found our door wide open. The laundry room and the staff's outdoor break area was just a few doors down and since he saw a few of the maids sitting there he assumed the door was open for cleaning and informed them and the front desk that he would hold them accountable if anything went missing. Front desk said they would take care of it. We returned that night around 1:30am to find the door still wide open, the do not disturb sign wedged behind the room number, the room had not been made up at all and thankfully, all of our belongings were still there. We then went to the night clerk who of course couldn't do anything except give us the name of the manager and her and the owner's times of arrival the next day. The next day when we went to check out the manager told us that we were the ones who left the door open. We said we didn't think so, but if we did then the maid should have closed it when she was done if she had cleaned our room. She said the room wasn't cleaned because of the do not disturb sign. We said we had put it out 2 days ago but not on that day and we would have put it on the knob. We then said that someone should have seen and closed the door on their way to the laundry and break area and she said well the maid was upstairs then. When we said it didn't matter, she said she talked to the maid and knew her to be truthful. With this implication that we were lying, I raised my voice to say again, "That doesn't matter." The woman with gray hair (the owner?) talking on the phone, slammed down the phone, pointed her finger at me and yelled "If you don't stop I'm calling the police." At this point since I had seen a police car right outside their lobby door inspecting some truck, I walked out saying "Why bother, they're already here." I then went and sat in my car fuming with anger and indignation until my husband came out and told me the manager said she was taking $5 a night off of our bill for the inconvenience. A grand total of $20 bucks. Considering we were in Paducah visiting my sister who just moved there and whom I will be visiting in the future they just lost any further business of mine. I suggest that people stay away from this Days Inn.
