The fifth generation iPod was the first Apple product I ever bought and wasn't long after I started working in a purely Apple working environment where everyone used Macs. I'd from colleagues how great Steve Jobs was at presenting their keynote speeches and hyping up new products and it wasn't long before I eagerly anticipated watching an Apple event streaming over the net for the first time.

I'd seen the iPod product previously but thought it was overpriced and didn't really do enough for the price. Then they announced the new wave of iPods that were now in colour and could play video - the time had come for me to buy my first Apple product. As soon as the event had finished I eagerly awaited for the iPods to be made available on the site and then ordered the 60Gb model in black straight away. The delivery didn't go as smooth as I would have liked, and I guess it was probably down to Apple receiving a much higher demand for them than they anticipated. The day after Apple said it would be due for delivery, their website said it was out for delivery in Amsterdam - which wasn't a good sign as I live in England. After a few phone calls and three weeks had passed it finally arrived on my doorstep. My first ever Apple product, in a nice black box designed by Apple in California.

Minutes after it had arrived it was on charge and plugged into my PC (yes, it was before I bought my Macbook Pro!) ready to get some music onto it. Initially I was dismayed to learn I could only use iTunes as previously I'd used WinAmp for listening to music with and had fun skinning it. Fortunately it didn't take me too long to get used to this change of application and today I now prefer iTunes over others, primarily because of the Coverflow.

The iPod itself is great and is really helpful to be able to carry a good portion of my music library around with me when I go on holiday - I can't sleep on planes so it's handy to have this iPod to listen to music and watch videos on. It's battery life isn't too bad and easily lasted me throughout a flight from England to Peru but unfortunately didn't then last long enough to watch the film I'd transferred to it when I came to use it in Cusco.

It has all the normal features you'd expect these days as well, shuffle, display of cover and ID3 tags, and even includes a few surprises in the form of some games, a calendar, and a contacts app.

Despite the fact I have since added an iPod shuffle (the belt clip style one) to my Apple collection, I still use this iPod a great deal and fully intend on taking it on many more trips in the future. I am tempted by the newer iPods, but until this one dies (touch wood isn't doesn't yet!) I'm content enough to let this one continue proving it's worth time and time again.

Keep on rocking.

The "Second 'Pute" in my office is an eMachines Monster 500a. Built in 1998, in "Dog" years, it is 77 years old, in 'pute years definitely over 100. Has been "Updated" to Windows 2000 Pro, which is still supported (and slowed the machine down) - 'til early 2010. By modern standards - RUNS SLOW! Nevertheless, it RUNS. I used it for about 6 months as my main office computer after a 2003 DELL Dimension fried its motherboard, my/our fault - didn't diagnose/find/replace a bad cooling fan. Replaced the Dimension with a Studio 540 when the W-7 Free Upgrade became available this summer. The W-7 disc is on its way and will be U/G Installed by 12/01/2009. In the interim, have converted to "Open Document" totally. Have told my "Office" based Lawyers and Accountants to get Open Office or BE GONE. As the Download is FREE - They have done it! FREE is good for me, and THEE as long as it is FREE except time and electricity. The "Little Monster" (500a) - Still runs - Thank You Averratec - the presumed actual manufacturer of this machine. Like Ha-Shem, its Justice is Slow, AND Sure. When I retire it, next year, it will be retired respectfully and become an honored Word Processing Machine. That is all. Dr. Shalit -

I have the new Apple iMac 27inch (3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/4GB RAM w/ 1TB HD/ ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256MB) and it's just a great desktop computer.

Super, bright, large display! AWESOME graphics! I love it! HD.. Call of Duty 4 works so smooth.. Crazy graphics compared to my old Sony PC..

And yeah. The iMac is just wonderful. Mac OS X Snow Leopard runs so smooth. WAY WAY better than PC. I'm a web designer, and I use Adobe CS4 suite all the time. Photoshop, Illustrator function so much better than on my old PC.

And I have Parallels which gives me Windows on my Mac whenever I need it.

iMac is just great! If you have the money, don't hesitate. It's definitely worth it.

Don't worry about lack of software, there is no such thing anymore. That was old times. Now you can get anything, and I mean there's way better stuff out there for Mac. PC users get a whole bunch of junk trial software. Lol.. Apple is dominating Microsoft.

Anyway.. I don't want to get into the argument Mac vs PC lol, but I'd just like to let you guys know, I DO PREFER the Mac over PC. Definitely.

APPLE = AWESOME! =)

My Dell Latitude D400 is my main laptop - I use it everyday. It is the perfect size for working on the lap. It's light-weight makes it easy to carry around the house or even to go sit outdoors.

The D400 and D410 are better than an ultraportable - because you have a bright and bigger screen and the keyboard is good also. Those two features are worth putting up with an extra 1lb. of weight. The D400 weighs in at 3.7lbs.

I like everything about this laptop - from it's size to its sleek performance. I multi-task most of the time, and have had no problems with the D400 keeping up with the workload.

It's a nice quiet working machine. It has large air vents along the right hand side, and thus is well ventilated.

I bought the laptop used off Ebay and replaced the keyboard and upgraded the memory to the max 2GB and installed Bluetooth. It has two USB ports, a D-Bay connector for optical drives, a firewire port, infrared, VGA-out and serial ports, and a PCMCIA card slot. The hard drive is easy to access and replace.

My only complaint is that you can't upgrade the laptop to Windows 7. Otherwise, my D400 has been the perfect laptop for my working everyday life.

I am happy with this laptop performance and with the fact that Windows Vista is not as bad as I expected, it hasn't crushed yet...

I have this laptop since last February. Everything went well until the warm weather started. For some reasons, our office has a very variable temperature, sometimes during the summer the heater goes on. And it was during one of these days that I found out that my laptop was extremely hot. I gets hot where I rest my hand palms while typing. Really really hot, to the point that one day I had to go home and work from there in my old laptop.

I am sure this is not ok, and I have to find a solution for this problem before next summer. Some friends have give me some solutions like getting a laptop fan, use an external keyboard or a laptop stand.

I will do something about that but for now it's ok because I can use my computer as a computer and a heater.

I am a Mac and Snow Leopard was a better idea.

I used to be a PC until I saw the light. I couldn't take the problems (crashes, bugs, snail-like pace) so several months ago I purchased a 15-in MacBook Pro with upgraded memory and hard drive. I have never had an issue, everything runs great, and I am running four or five different Adobe CS4 applications at once without any lag. Beautiful. I am now converting friends and family that haven't already joined the church of Apple.

I work for a company in the shippind department. Our previous comp went bad and I had to beg them for a new one over two months of dealing with the handicapped previous one. Frustrated with them...thats another rating.....they finally bought a new power spec model b302 and I spent the whole day hooking it up and putting our files and programs on it, and there pretty minimal. It ran great for 2 days!!!!! then the what ever it is that connects to the internet on the inside failed....hmmm.....then we unhooked it all and got another NEW COMP!!!! My boss insisted that he hook it up and after dickin around all day he got it hooked up. I started shipping and not ten minutes later it froze on me....the mouse quit working and i had to restart it to get it to work again....so now a month later amd it freezes 6 to 10 times a day. For now its ok but when the christmas season comes in i won't be able to ship all our merch every day having to restart the whole thing constantly. Yea i am pissed about it and am sick of everyone selling half assed products. where did the concept of quality go? and yes i am sure that some of them work great and if our mass producing something...sure a few of them will be defective....but it shouldn't be two in a row and as many as i have seen reviews on. I am so frustrated with the whole world...does anyone live by principle anymore? by code of ethics? and by the way those have little to do with the monetary benefits....i feel like no one lives by anything anymore other than the rule of self....if you will pay me for it then its ok....and thats really sad. powerspec is just another example of half assed business in our country....is there an example of a good business with good principles anywhere?

Very happy with this computer except for battery life. Since I use it at my desk this is not a problem.
Surfs quickly, loads Windows quickly.

This is a decent ultralight laptop -- it's crazy thin, and is constructed out of a block of aluminum so it has exceptional torsional rigidity. Because of this it doesn't feel like plastic junk where you could twist the circuit boards to bits. It has a bright 13" LED screen and full-size, lighted keyboard. The battery is not quickly swappable but it lasts a very long time.

The real compromise on this laptop is mass storage, and to a lesser degree performance. It works smashingly as a web browsing, email processing, spreadsheet crunching type of machine. But if you're doing iPhone development or running VMs or any kind of image processing, you're going to be disappointed. There isn't much disk space and the available hard drives that fit into the ultrathin case are small and run at 4200 RPM. If you opt for the SSD drive, you'll be paying a lot of money to get mass storage with no moving parts, but you won't have room for tons of photos, music or video. There's also no DVD drive built in and only 1 USB port.

In short, if you get a MacBook Air you'll have the lightest, most portable Mac around.
