I attended AIU for my BA degree and planning on returning for my Masters. I loved it. I was attending a typical university but after calculating my classes I would still be in school for 6 years for a BA because some semesters a certain class isnt available. But with AIU I was able to complete my BA in 14 months. I am in my 20's and I work fulltime 40 or more a week, so AIU was happy with my decision to attend AIU.

I am working at a major school now and one of the reason I got the job was the manager in HR attended AIU as well and we bonded as fellow alumni. I am going for my masters starting January and hope to further my career.

You have to attended the school before you make judgement. I read all these negative blogs before I attended but I wanted to judge the school on my own. Now I have a great job and the other bloggers are unemployeed and degree-less still bashing AIU. Losers!

AIU IS THE BEST!

Pace is a great place to study. I am enjoying it a lot here, taking a lot of challenging yet exciting classes that I do look forward to. Social life is absolutely amazing, in my opinion. Either that or my freshman year is a very lucky year because everyone here is extremely friendly and nice. There are some people who you might not like, but there are also a lot of people you will really get along with, no matter what type of person you are. I love it here, and I don't regret for one second the decision I made for coming to this university.

I'm rating this because I've attended Devry Online and on campus and now I regret it. I will give a fair review.

The Good

I attended Devry because I got laid off and I needed a degree fast so that I could jump onto the market again. This is the good thing. They have classes that are well suited for any schedule from Online, Night classes, to Day classes. This allowed my schedule to be extremely flexible.
The other good part is the amount of time I can graduate. On a full time schedule, a typical student will be able to graduate within 2-3 years depending on the program. That is great!

The Bad.

If you're going for a premium education, guess again. Like a double edged sword, the fast paced education comes at a price. The teachers have experience in their field of expertise but, what many people don't observe, is that they are not teachers!! It's all scripted from the lessons, to the discussions, even the reading. when I say scripted, I mean that once you see the assignment, you go in read that part, babble on in the discussions, and you get full points. I rarely opened up my text book. There are some instructors that take their job too seriously but you'll get by. The classes are so easy that you would have to be a moron to get a C in any of those courses.

Cost was a major ache in my stomach. I have a $70,000 loan I will owe once I graduate. let me spell that out for you SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS PLUS INTEREST. I think applicants do not understand the debt they are about to enter. This is a CORPORATE led education system, so please think about where all of your money is going. I just found out that Devry paid out $295 million for Apollo College!!!!!! THINK ABOUT WHERE YOUR MONEY IS GOING!!!

I'm sorry to have to say this, but having Devry on my degree is just embarrasing. Like another person said, it looks better to have a public state university on your degree than a college where you pay loads of money for a piece of paper. I went to community college before and you literally have to bust your butt with the reading materials, assignments, and note taking. And just to make it clear, I HAD TO choose Devry because of the current economic situation we're in. I don't have time for community college and then state university.

I attended a traditional Ed.D. program in Education for a year, prior to transferring to Capella's Ph.D. program in Education. I found Capella's program to be informative and rigorous.

After completing my Ph.D. with Capella, I was offered several full faculty positions at highly regarded universities.

I was nervous that traditional schools would misperceive the quality of Capella's program, but I am happy to say that most of them positively regarded my online experience as they are attempting to use more distance learning themselves.

UOP is no walk in the park. I am a student enrolled in the Health Care Administration Program. I would just like to make a note that, everyone will list their dislikes for any school which they are attending or were enrolled in. Not every school is perfect. Most of these reviews are bashing the school. If things didn't go well for you, then maybe UOP wasn't for you. I know of people who were enrolled in UOP overseas in the Military and Marines, and they love it. I am ok at this point with the school. I graduate in July of 2010. I will come back at that time to review the schools overall liking.

I also was a member of the first Master's of Psychology program with U of P. It was an intense, time consuming and difficult program that required much research and writing. I enjoyed the class and as a bonus I made some friends in other parts of the country. What I am not happy about is the way the program was misrepresented by my Admission's Advisor. As this was a new program, it appears that the admistrators did not have all their ducks in a row and many of us were misled. My advisor told me that this was not a clinical program, therefore I would not be able to become a licensed counselor or psychologist upon receiving my degree, but he did tell me that I would be able to be a guidance counselor or an educational counselor in a school or university setting. This does not appear to be the case, especially in New York State, where I reside.

I am not a lawyer and I trusted my admission's advisor. Now that I have the degree, it is not of any use to my career as it is recognized as only a generic master's degree. The frustration comes from the fact that we, the student's in the first class who believe we were misled, could have taken another program, business, for example, which required fewer credit hours, was less time intensive and would have resulted in a much reduced bill - i.e. would not have cost $35,000+.

Upon contacting the "grievance department" at U of P, we were received unsympathetically. For- give us our naievete, we trusted an organization that promised to ensure our satisfaction. They admit that they offer no career guidance, perhaps this is something that should be considered so that others don't end up as frustrated as we are.

I wanted to finish my degree in the shortest time with all the necessary credits. I was naive and unaware of the consequences that go along in finding a job with a degree from a mediocre school. I was just finishing my military duty and had the opportunity to acquire my BS in Information Systems from CTU. My Associates was honored and I finished my Bachelors in less than two years. I knew I made a mistake when the credits I was earning from the school were not transferable to other state schools and I was maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my entire attendance. I graduated thinking that it was too easy.
Later, I sent out resumes for a year. No job agencies would contact me and I did not get any leads from any organizations wanting to hire me. Companies wanting to sell me Microsoft Certification classes was about it. I was able to land a contract position and later hired on as a full-time employee by making contact with an old friend who helped me get hired as a Software Developer.

There are many scams offering easy, short classes to obtain a degree. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. CTU along with many of these online universities are not offering solid education. CTU does not prepare students for harshly competitive, real working world.

Top notch education! The quality of instruction and resources have always exceeded my expectations. I find students to be friendly, bright and helpful. While it is certainly known for its sciences I have found the social sciences to also be superb (despite what other people have said). The city leaves a little to be desired, but the academics certainly make up for it. While everyone here has a little bit of "nerd" in them, people are down to earth and know how to balance their time in the library with other things.
