It's not a horrible linear algebra book, as it does teach you the basics such as matrices, row operations, various transformations, eigenvalues and such. But it's title is rather misleading. It doesn't teach you much about applications at all. After taking a course in linear algebra using this book, I thought I had a decent grasp on the subject. I didn't really learn linear algebra that a physicist would use until I took a math methods course when I got to grad school.
