I would give Lifetime Fitness Cary NC 0 stars if possible. Childcare is frightening, it is overcrowded and understaffed by disinterested teens for the most part. There have been reports of sexual harrassment & identity theft by management and trainers as well as management having relations with direct reports which is a definite no-no in the employee handbook yet management chooses to overlooks this concentrating instead on how to raise the dues while cutting the services, our facilities are becoming more and more restricted due to birthday parties, childcare camps, etc which allow Lifetime to charge their members full price for facilities that they can only use at certain times even though they are paying dearly for full access.

Trainers are underpaid even though personal training fees are $100 or more per hr the corporation gets most of this. The facilities are already looking run-down, the dues keep rising as members realize the issues within this gym/corporation and opt to leave for smaller more personable gyms that do not strive to be everything to everyone while overlooking the important issues; a safe childcare center with appropriate ratios, the access to the facilities that we were promised when we signed up, the safety and security of their female members and the respect of the management/staff who should put the consumer first no matter what. Wake up consumers do you really want to pay this exorbitant monthly rate to be treated as an expendable resource there just to be exploited by the corporation. Do yourself a favor pick a smaller gym that treats their clients as a valuable resource not just a walking debit card or take your chances with Lifetime Fitness Cary.

I have had the Schwinn 430 now for two years. When it works I love it. However, I have broken welds on the machine three times now and it takes about three months to get parts for it. I was lucky I bought the five year extended warranty but what do you do when yoiu want to work out and it is -20 outside. I have enough broken parts from it to almost build a second machine. I am a six foot one male who weighs 230 pounds. I think I may be too big for the machine. Next time I will purchase a model built for my size.

i worked at gold's in phoenix, arizona for years. at first, i loved it & felt extremely lucky to have a job there. however, that soon changed. working there really makes you see how biased & rude they are to customers. well, this is from the gym i worked at least. anyway, they charge SO many hidden fees to people & give them the hardest time when they want to cancel. some members get "special" deals if the sales guy thinks they're hot, while other members get their membership jacked up without warning. not to mention, the managers at my gym were HORRIBLE & mean to their own employees. we were expected to pay for our own cleaning/antibacterial supplies at one point, which i hope makes you realize how disgusting & selfish they are. if you're thinking about joining a gold's gym, avoid the thunderbird location!

After laying out all the nuts and bolts and parts I baegan the assembly process as spelled out by the handy manual. Everything was fine until the base assembly wherein the base holes(pre drilled)were off a fraction of an inch in relation to the ball platform holes making it impossible to align the supplied nuts and bolts without some extra drilling and "gerry rigging" to join the two pieces together. This problem has occured several times in my life with other assembly products and only happened when dealing with products manufactured outside the U.S. I was expecting more from BOSU as the final product seems to be quite good in spite of aformentioned problem.

The largest fitness company in North America is absolutely in disarray. The facilities are poorly kept. Customer service is absolutely horrible. It has had to withstand numerous lawsuits and media reports of unethical business practices with regards to membership contracts. And has seen it's stock tumble. This company with all it's holdings is literally one of the most poorly managed in the world. The corporate structure is top heavy, marked by bureaucratic torpidity, group think and an all around lack of common sense. While attempting to limit risk and cut expenditures they have stymied growth costing millions in revenue. The company finished up the fiscal year 2003 losing about 600 million dollars. Their stock shares have fallen from an all time high in the $30 range to about $2 per. All of this has correlated into an absolute disaster for the product their members receive. Machines go weeks without being repaired. Facilities are in general disrepair. Unionized maintenance help inhibits cost saving measures and productive upgrades in cleanup crews. Club staffs are generally poor. Subsidiary companies are left without support, are falling apart, and the attempts to limit outlays has caused a massive loss in valuable human capital. The company with over 450 facilities and various brands needs to regroup and cut out levels of overlapping management. They should sell off about 50% of their locations to recoup their losses- restructure and streamline their systems moving the control closer to the club level to improve customer care. As of now Bally's would be the last place I would purchase a membership.

LIFETIME FITNESS CARY NC LOCATION Dirty facilities considering relative newness of the gym (2yrs old give or take) non-existent childcare wouldn't leave any child under the age of 6 at this location as they are understaffed poorly trained or just indifferent. Management will not address any of your concerns they just don't return your calls after all youre just the consumer shelling out over $ 100.00 per month in membership dues and they keep raising the rate as their membership/enrollment rates dwindle. On the gym floor they have many "trained" fitness instructors but you cant get help from them unless youre willing to pay more than $100/hr for their personal training services otherwise they are too BUSY flirting with members or other staff or checking email or doing some other type of busy work ;) there are some exceptions but not many considering how large the staff is. The machines are plentiful but are reserved at various times of the day for teamtime or weight loss camps. There are also a fair number of machines that are broken for several days at a time and since we are a fairly new location you have to wonder how bad it will be in a year or two . All in all I'd say save your money and stay with the smaller more personable gyms, you will be happier in the long run unless you're looking for that singles club type of gym environment and you don't mind all the teens & tweens hanging out while you're trying to get in a quick workout.(Allows individuals 12y/o and up on floor unsupervised offers discount to members under 26) I've gone back to my smaller hospital affiliated gym and feel much better about working out here does it have the same amount of machines?.. no Does it have a cafe that serves bland expensive food & mediocre coffee?..no BUT what it does have is a caring staff who answers my questions and helps me when I need it without requesting an extra fee which is exorbitant and a childcare center with a 1:1 ratio of caring ladies so I don't have to worry about my child's safety and a reasonable rate of $40.00 per month and if I have a problem I can just walk up to the manager and talk to him about it without the fear of being shown the door for being a "troublemaker" yes this has happened in the Cary club. Buyer Beware I was swayed by the external apperance of Lifetime Cary but apperances can and were deceiving.

This is a must have for any gym. Using it really ramps up your workout. By having to stabilize yourself while on it, you use more muscles, thereby burning more calories. Love it!!

Ok. You've seen this thing on TV in those late night or early morning infomercials. But does the thing work???

Well, I'm here to tell you it does. I was skeptical when I first tried it, but the machine delivers and it's actually really easy to assemble and FUN to work out on.

If you are used to pushing steel in the gym, this is gonna take a bit getting used to. But the beauty about this system, is that you can't really get hurt on it, as it helps keep you true to your form to avoid injury.

Weights go from 5 - 50 pounds on each side and you can do almost every exercise on this thing for chest, arms, bis, tris, abs, back, legs (it has a separate thing you attach), core, etc.

What's nice about it is that it will be one of those RARE machines you own, where it won't collect dust or become some clothes hanger like your other gym equipment. You can't get bored on this thing because there are so many exercises to do.

WOW - I am very suprised by some people's comments on here. Maybe you don't know how good these clubs really are. I travel a lot and I've worked out in hotels and other chains but I love having Life Time Fitness clubs in the majority of cities I tavel to. I know what I'm going to get every time. I still like my home club best but if I'm in Dallas, Detroit, Chicago or Atlanta, I know exactly when the clubs are open (all the time), I know where the locker rooms is, the pool and the studios. The clubs are clean, the staff is friendly and the towels and lockers are free. For a businessman that travels some 15,000 - 20,000 miles per year, its nice to have a club that I can go to when I'm away from home. If the airlines used the same standards, they wouldn't be all bankrupt. Life Time don't change a thing. Well, maybe add a few clubs in California. That would be great!
