Video Game Consoles

Most get old quickly, but some age well. No, we're not talking about people or wine- this section covers game consoles. Rate the systems on graphics, controllers, wait time ("Loading..."), and of course, the games you can play on it.

Last Saturday was the first time I played with this console and the first comment I have to say is that the right side of my body, from hip to shoulder is sore.

My friend and I played for hours (I'm not going to say how many hours because it's somehow embarrasing) The console came with the Wii sport package. We played every game (Tennis, Bowling, Baseball, Golf and Boxing).

My favorite games were Bowling and Golf. I love that your movements are transfered almost simultaneously and almost fairly to the game. It makes games hard, competitive, and fun! It's very hard to be solid and make good plays overtime and it's also very likely to fail.

We had a lot of fun and we can't wait to have all our friends playing together. I want to see how it is to play with 5 other guys after a good session of food, beer, and Black Label!

I own both a PS3 and a Wii. I meant to get the Wii for another person but won two bids on E-bay, so I kept one it was a great bundle deal. I have the 60GB version of the PS3 with all the features (Bluetooth Wireless connections, Blueray, etc.). I have had it for about three years now and I would say that you definitely get everything you paid for. Firs of all it has all the features you could ever need.

Internet Browser (Wii makes you pay for it)
Backward Compatible to other PS1 or PS2 games, and you can download old PS1 classic games and new games from the PS network.
Multiplayer online games are all free NO CONTRACT REQUIRED (XBOX LIVE).
Blueray Player, Dvd Player, CD player. CD/VIDEO storage onto hard drive.
Supports Folding@home project on downtime if you want to.

No over heating issues. No Batteries REQUIRED my controls are Rechargable.

Only issue I had was one with storage issues becasue I downloaded some movies and it wouldn't store on the hard drive it would stop at 99%. I still got to watch the movies, which you can do while they download. I thought reformating would do it but everything was gone from my download list. I called customer service with my transaction history and they added all those games and movies back. They were a little upset that I waited a while but they were very helpful.

The only reason people like XBOX is becasue of HALO and like everything else Microsoft bought Bungie before they realeased HALO and made it exclusively for XBOX. Without that game I see no reason for XBOX to exist. If you're a serious gamer get a PS3.

The Wii, I like because it has some games that keep you active, but looking at the time I've owned them both I like the PS3 better, I can download new games and play them when I want and I don't need to get a different controler. Some Wii downloads require a different controller. I would consider the Wii mainly for small kids and families that want to play together. The games are cheap, the graphics aren't that great, but it is still fun and engaging.

Overall the PS3 has everything you need.

I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I've always been fairly inactive and now that I'm in my mid-40s, it's been starting to cause an overall lack of stamina and back pain and exhaustion from walking short distances (and I'm not even overweight). But after just 2 weeks of Wii Fit Plus (usually 30 -45 minutes per day), I'm really noticing a difference. I'm thrilled!

You can work up a sweat without even noticing because you're having so much fun. The Island Cycling is my favorite (love the Island View Course). It definitely gets your blood pumping. Some of my other favorites include Rhythm Kung Fu, Advanced Step, Hula Hoop, Obstacle Course, Rhythm Parade, Bull's Eye, Jogging and Boxing. There are so many choices that it's hard to imagine anyone not finding something that's fun for them or that suits their needs and goals (unless they're already in great shape).

Some of the activities can be a bit challenging to get the hang of (and it seems that different people have trouble with different things). I'm disastrous at skateboarding, but I'm a "calorie torcher" at obstacle course. My boyfriend's 12-year-old son got quickly frustrated with the obstacle course, but I bet he'd be a natural at skateboarding. You just have to find what works for you. Fortunately there are plenty of choices!

Another fun feature is that you feel like you're working out with your friends and family. As your family members add themselves to the program (and you can also add your pets), they are featured throughout the game. Your regular Wii friends are featured too, but not as prominently. They cheer you on at the finish line, demonstrate the moves, toss you your hula hoops, march in your band, etc., and your pet can run along side you as you cycle. It can be an added little boost to your workout. Wii Fit Plus also keeps track of your best times/scores, so it's fun to be able to challenge your previous records. It always feel great when you beat your previous best.

The yoga is good if you like a more calm, relaxed type of workout. Personally I have a hard time staying away from the more active games, but I'm glad it's there when I want to work on strength.

Let's not kid ourselves here. The original PS3 SIXAXIS Controller felt too light to be taken seriously. It felt like you were holding a cheaply made third party knockoff. The added weight of the vibration in the Dual Shock 3 really gives the controller a nice heft to it. It just feels so much more solid. It's hard to describe but trust me you won't want to go back. The addition of vibration is welcome but the added weight is where this really paid off for me.

What do you say about this? It's the official PS3 controller. There are cheaper options, but generally you get what you pay for. I don't have anuy complaints - works well, no compatability issues (like I had with a couple cheaper controllers).

The Wii Grand Slam Sports pack is NOT a product of Nintendo. The reason for this is due to the possibility of the accessory attachments coming loose during play, which can damage your friends, family, and even more likely, your television. This very same thing occured on live television when the Home Shopping Network was demonstrating Wii sports with the tennis racket attachment. You can view this on YouTube.

Please, do yourself, your family, and your expensive television a favor and enjoy Wii Sports without these useless and dangerous attachments!

Once you pick up this guitar controller, you'll know its more than some cheap toy (which is good, as you'll have that feeling when you pay for it too). This feels more like a well made tool (its made of real wood), but just don't try to plug it in an amp or anything for that matter, as it's wireless. The wireless works very well, as its an officially licensed accessory that doesn't require some odd dongle. Just plug the batteries (included) in and fire up your favorite guitar game. At first its a little tight, but it quickly establishes itself as a smooth and precise controller. Before long the weighty axe starts to be a bit of a pain on the ole back, but since its wireless you can grab a chair even if its across the room.

The 32X sucked. It turned the 16 bit genesis into a 32 bit system. The only reason why most people bought it was because of Doom. That was the only reason why I bought it. But the 32X Doom was a disappointment and it was obviously rushed. It was missing eleven levels. That sucked.
Sega didn't even try to give us any good 32X games. Doom and Virtua Racing Deluxe were the only two 32X games that I liked. Sony's original Playstation was 32 bit and was much better than the 32X. I give the crappy 32X a 2 star rating.
