It all sounds like such a delicate and complicated balance. I think it was actually a lot easier in the days when you flew solo in an open cockpit with nothing more than a silk scarf around your neck for protection. Then again, those guys were in 'bi-planes'.

My best friend has a drinking problem. I've asked him several times to get help but he wouldn't. He stopped drinking for about half a year. I thought that he had kicked the habit. If they're generous, it inspires me to be generous too. I don't like people who always want you to do things for them, but offer nothing in return. Like wanting you to go to their birthday party and get them a gift, but, forgetting yours and not even getting you a stinking card, for example.

Shiny Happy People make me sick! They seem naive to me. I feel pressured to lie to them and pretend that everything is hunky dory all the time. It makes me feel drained. I like to be around people who realize that the world sucks, but, keep going anyway. It's reassuring to be around people of like minds and temperments, and energizing too.
