yesterday

I'm based in the UK and had to be in the states and Canada for business for 2 weeks so having a US number worked out very well for my business partners who needed to get in touch. It has been reliable so far.

Another good thing is friends and family can call you on your UK number which means the cost is low for them. It is also very easy to top up on the internet and I can provide a straight forward usuage statement to my company.

As to text messages, I received one from a UK mobile but it never came through to my phone and I only got it when I checked on my account online. I'm not sure if this is a one off or if that's the norm.

Another minor thing is that although the SimCalling card is advertised for $19, take into account tax and shipping when you first purchase it, mine came to $29.67 which is an extra 50% more than what I initially expected.

I don't know if I just got lucky or what, but I am thrilled with the service so far. I live in Birmingham, Alabama and have found that my signal and voice quality is actually better than Verizon. Due to the $50 unlimited service, I am able to use all of the really cool features of Boost without having to worry about what my bill will look like at the end of the month. I think the "text to voice" messaging to landlines is especially cool and useful.

I purchased my phone (i465) from Target. Took it home and within 20 minutes I was texting and talking up a storm with no problems.

The experience I have had so far is totally good. If things continue as positively as they have begun, I will be abandoning ALL of my Verizon services and using nothing but Boost in the near future. Nobody can beat what I have found with Boost!

I am adding this note several days after the post I typed in above...

I just had my first experience with Boost Mobile customer service. I have been dreading them due to all the negative things I have read here. Well, just as with the service itself, my experience was extremely good. I waited a couple of minutes for a rep to come on the line and she was very friendly and professional. She was unable to answer my question regarding my porting of a Verizon number and instantly bumped me up to a higher level of assistance with another rep. After a minute or two of research, the higher level rep answered my questions and did so with a great attitude and very professionally.

Say whatever you want about Boost Mobile, but my initial experience has been better than with any cell phone provider I have ever had. I'm loving it!!

Tracfone offers very cheap service and non existent customer service. When you eventually have a problem you will spend approximately 6 hours on the phone being told how sorry Tracfone is, entering codes and relaying codes and then being told you have no complaint that the phone is working. I have had Tracfone for 2 years now and I'm switching ASAP, I paid for service, the phone was not updated and Tracfone continues to tell me the minutes were added, I've finally given up.

To attack people for not having money is ludacris. Judging people on their appearance, shame on you! Your review wasn't on the Boost Mobile service, is was a review on the individuals who use their service. Are you that High and Mighty? Just a reminder it takes a split second for something to knock you off that pedistal. Life happens. Police officers, firemen, government officals have lost their jobs in this economy, and can no longer afford their contracted cellular service. Boost mobile stepped up to the plate to provide a reasonable service for a reasonable price. I have an AT&T contracted IPhone and my service isn't even comparable to boost's network. I drop calls quite frequently. Until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes, you have no right to judge them. Your insecurities obviously lie within. May you stay blessed in good health, and wealth so you will never have to live on the other side of the fence.

Metro PCS is worst than boost mobile... come on people... get a contract with verizon, att, sprint, or tmobile and stop being ghetto... be responsible and pay your bills... "Well I like the idea that I don't have to pay this month if I don't want to!" wow really? Join the rest of society and get a post-pay phone...

Boost is a ghetto trash service... It attracts mostly fail irresponsible people who can't pay their bills... But it creates the illusion for people that they are actually "paying a bill", but they fail to realize that all it is a crappy prepay service... "I want to pay my boost bill!" "how about you pay your electric bill first sir/mam?"... Boost makes people become rude, lazy, and just flat out fail... Boost customers would rather pay their bill than have food on the table. I work for a retailer who has to take boost payments and I would say about 95% of the people who come in with boost are the scum of the city... It makes me sick that people would rather have their trashy phone service on rather than making sure their kids are taken care of... If I could I would remove boost from all of the stores and all of society. Boost is a plague, a virus, a complete example of epic fail in your community... Please people, stop getting boost mobile, and stop spreading this ghetto plague.

If you want a good service and do not have the credit; go with sprint or Tmobile, they have reasonable deposit amounts(if any) and very competitive rate plans. Or if you are stuck on prepay, go with att... they have a good unlimited plan right now also...

If you go the CDMA route, you'll be a very happy camper! I followed "kd5eet's" advice (10/10/2009) and have a retro used phone, but I can live w/ it as long as I get unlimited at half the cost of my old Sprint plan! Oddly enough, Boostmobile doesn't charge me nearly as much (outgoing and incoming int'l texts, taxes, surcharges, etc) as Sprint was even though they're virtually the same company and network. What more could you ask for??? Prepaid, no contract, unlimited, affordable, great reception and network! I get scoffs when friends look at my phone, but I smile from within knowing I pay less and get more than they do, especially when they complain about no reception and dropped calls on their fancy iphone!

Verizon wireless is the worst. I had T-mobile before and they are way better than verizon. Verizon they try to confuse you by charging you one month ahead. It been only two months and I have called them every month with bill issue and arguing, which is waste to my time and theres as well. I got credited two times, but this time I had to pay extra for some charges that I didn't even use. I so dissappointed in future don't get verizon, they will get you some how.

I've been using Boost for nearly a year. I must say when I first started service with them I experienced the same problems with text messaging. I wouldn't get them for up to 10 hours, I called customer service and they told me how to do a master reset on my motorola i425 handset (the cheapest one). I've since tried several phones, none of which ever broke (unlike those cheapo cricket phones) i425, i465 (clutch), Nextel i580, i570, i880 & the Nextel Blackberry curve i8350 (requires some hacking to use on boost). I always get my text's on time except before I first did a master reset on the i425 and Clutch. I agree that the phones that they offer do suck, luckily you can buy any Nextel phone that uses a sim card (not the CDMA sprint phones). I live in Chicago and always have good service. Please understand that if you are chirping, you will not get a phone call. That's how it works. People who complain about missed calls are chirping. Sometimes it takes awhile to get through to customer support though, once I was billed 6.99 by another company because of a chain text that I replied to or something and I replied stop and tried to get ahold of them. This effected my balance and caused my phone to get shut off because I had only prepaid $50. I called boost, they told me why I was charged, blocked the other company from texting / charging me and refunded my money right away. If you get a data cable & myjal media pal you can put on your own ringtones, wallpapers & java applications as long as they are in the right format. I never pay for those things anymore. No sense in buying a song twice if you already own it, especially when a ringtone is $3 and a song on iTunes is .99 for the whole thing! I love my service, I love my phone (albeit a nextel phone.) Boost's phones do suck and customer service drags but when you first get a phone, do a master reset and you should have no problems!

I like my boost mobile service for the most part. I was pretty used to the interface since I used to have a Nextel phone(that yellow military one). Around here(suburb of Pittsburgh) I get pretty good service compared to what any CDMA phone offers. Not sure about the GSM ones though. But yea. It was a bit confusing to set up but I got through to someone on their 1800 number(or 1877...whatever it was) and they fixed it all in a few minutes. Phone works great though the layout of text messages is a bit confusing. I checked with someone who texted me and they told me they sent it just a minute before I called so its by no means slow. The web browser is a good bit slow...but its unlimited so no complaints. I downloaded opera mini for my phone(i465 clutch) and it goes a little faster. I sound clear to everyone, have good coverage, and no dropped calls. I think GSM phones in my area have more coverage but none of them can match the value. If you want to know if boost is going to work well for you, go to nextels site and look at their coverage map.
