I've been using Boost for nearly a year. I must say when I first started service with them I experienced the same problems with text messaging. I wouldn't get them for up to 10 hours, I called customer service and they told me how to do a master reset on my motorola i425 handset (the cheapest one). I've since tried several phones, none of which ever broke (unlike those cheapo cricket phones) i425, i465 (clutch), Nextel i580, i570, i880 & the Nextel Blackberry curve i8350 (requires some hacking to use on boost). I always get my text's on time except before I first did a master reset on the i425 and Clutch. I agree that the phones that they offer do suck, luckily you can buy any Nextel phone that uses a sim card (not the CDMA sprint phones). I live in Chicago and always have good service. Please understand that if you are chirping, you will not get a phone call. That's how it works. People who complain about missed calls are chirping. Sometimes it takes awhile to get through to customer support though, once I was billed 6.99 by another company because of a chain text that I replied to or something and I replied stop and tried to get ahold of them. This effected my balance and caused my phone to get shut off because I had only prepaid $50. I called boost, they told me why I was charged, blocked the other company from texting / charging me and refunded my money right away. If you get a data cable & myjal media pal you can put on your own ringtones, wallpapers & java applications as long as they are in the right format. I never pay for those things anymore. No sense in buying a song twice if you already own it, especially when a ringtone is $3 and a song on iTunes is .99 for the whole thing! I love my service, I love my phone (albeit a nextel phone.) Boost's phones do suck and customer service drags but when you first get a phone, do a master reset and you should have no problems!
