I worked for this company (Huntleigh at Boston Logan International Airport) for a little more than a year. When I first came here, I though I was going to do something along the lines of security. But to my surprise, I basically was doing Cleaning and Security on airplanes. I stayed anyways because I thought the $10.00 an hour was decent and most of co-workers were nice people. As time progressed, it just got worse. One being is the company itself and the higher management aka supervisors, district manager, leads. The company offers no health insurance or any other benefits except your pay check and measly 10% discount on most things within the airport stores or restaurants. You don't even get a raise no matter how hard you worked or how long you have been with the company. And for you to advance your position in the company, you have to be really close or kiss ass to a person in the higher management like Supervisor or District Manager. Some of the people who became leads or supervisors were lazy and incompetent. There was even a point in which they said to us, once we get off the planes, the pay rate would drop to $8.00/hr from 10. It didn't go through because that made a lot of us upset. For ex: I remember we were understaffed on the airplanes, one of the leads just kept barking orders at us to hurry up. He could've been courteous and gave a helping hand but he just basically socialized and looked on. And favoritism was constant, people who were closer to a supervisor had more freeway to do what they want and without consequences. They had a secretary named Michelle who was a pompous, waif-figure who would put us through a theatrical meeting daily for a week, because we didn't clean the plane within the time limit. The thing is some of the co-workers were lazy and immature and didn't contribute, or we were sometimes understaffed-a few people came in on their own time, or didn't show up- so how much could we do? She was aware some of the co-workers were clowns but because she was cool/flirtatious with them, she did nothing. She lacked professionalism. She later became fired. Then we had Edward Endino, who was a hypocrite. He was the District Manager who was rude and cocky towards co-workers, telling us for example not to steal but guess what? He later got terminated because he stole money-allegedly thousands of dollars-from the company and the employees. Then we had a New District Manger, Eric Malby, a Michelin man look-a-like who put on an illusion as he is a reform from the former supervisor but he is worse. He systematically went on a tirade of firing people for insignificant reasons. He actually fired someone for being depressed, she had no tardy issues or anything. And he was creepy. He complimented my lips or referenced to my lips twice, which is unprofessional. A few other female employees said the same thing. One said that when she went into the office to ask him if she could take time off for a trip, that he checked her up and down;which made her feel uncomfortable. Another employee said that he mentioned to her, "I see you in my dreams." Something to that effect. Does he really think 20-something females would be attracted to a Michelin figure or find his comments salacious? Also, he felt he was too good to deal with any issues we employees have. He would always suggest we speak to his secretary or supervisor, even though the issue could only be resolved with him. He fronts like he cares about employees but he doesn't, unless it directly affects him. Now, another issue is there is no security done on the airplanes by us. We basically only did cleaning. We only did security when TSA would come aboard to supervise us, to make sure we know how to do security checks and were doing them. Hell, sometimes we knew where TSA hide the numbered papers, which were supposed to symbolize weapons, etc. That isn't out fault either because we have a certain time limit to clean planes and we can't do security and cleaning without being late;especially since the airplanes staff get upset about that. Also, we just do what out supervisor tells us to do.I remember they even brought someone from Texas to kinda "re-train" us on security checks since we were failing. By re-train, we took tests on security procedures. Of course, we all passed since we cheated and later went over them to correct the answers. What the guy didn't know is we barely did them! You lose what you don't use, lol. I can say nearly all of the people don't like working there, they just stay because of the recession and their limited education status. But I been out and I am much happier, there was too much drama, non-professionalism,favoritism,gossiping,lack of respect, no benefits, to be happy there. People thought I made good money since it's the airport but people working Full time aren't even making $400 a week because of the hours. So, when a friend or associate would ask me too "hook them up" to get in, I actually told them this job was beneath them and to look elsewhere.
