I'm a guy from Vancouver, Canada
About me: A sort of Buck Mulligan character, for those of you familiar with Joyce. For those of you who have been asking, my daughter's cancer is in full remission and it seems that she has beaten it. Her feisty courage through this ordeal have been both a source of pride and an inspiration to me. I thank all of you who have sent your regards, best wishes and prayers. I will never forget it.

I was going to leave you a nasty and meaningless compliment, but after reading your profile I could not. You should definitely be proud and inspired by your beautiful daughter and I hope she recovers fully.

Found this outlet while seeking a bit on a racetrack announcer. Up comes a review on all announcers. With respects to other contributors, cogent insight came from Irishgit. Interesting to read one as knowledgeable about the Sport of Kings as I. As the workings of the site and subjects came to me, I found nothing that fails to attract git's wicked pen and competent thought. Dry humor, high rode or low, with a flare for punctuation by obscenity, make git impossible to miss, ignore, or forget.

I only ended up here looking for a pic of Fanne Fox - but read some of your posts - which are fucking hilarious - very rude, but hilarious nonetheless - note: I didn't bother to read the trash the other was spouting - but just thought I say I enjoy your writing - b/c you are very bright and well-spoken and highly creative in your insults. You'd fit in well with my set. Cheers. Laura

Irishgit can express more in 3 sentences than I can in 50. Brilliantly eloquent reviewer with truly admirable editorial skills.

Brilliant reviews, probably the most balanced and prolific reviewer at the site. Irish covers it all, and will often toss a dash of humor into the mix, I'm sure RIA is happy that you're still around, so am I.

Irishgit is a great reviewer and I really like to read his comments. I don't necessarily agree with everything he writes, but I would consider him as a well-rounded individual that has wit and a good understanding on most subjects.

With a name like irishgit how can a guy named "Donovan" not like him? Irish has been on RIA for a very long time and has earned the respect of many reviewers including myself. We may not always agree but I can usually understand where he is coming from. With my Irish roots I sense a bond with him so from one mate to another I wish you “Irishgit” the very best!

Sometimes cutting, always direct; but this gentleman always knows his stuff. Always lucid, whether I agree with his comment or not. He seems to have a dual education- both formal and real-world...something of a rarity in this day and age. RIA would be far less entertaining, and probably less informative without irishgit.

A firstrate and the first rater I read when I started out at RIA. He gets a ridiculous number of "helpfuls" even for his tamest of reviews, but if someone is going to be the most helpful I can't argue with it being him.

Solid reveiwer. This guy takes absolutely no prisoners and doesn't suffer fools gladly as some have witnessed on this site time and time again. If people question your ability when the evidence is pretty much there you can see why Irish behaves the way he does. Its pretty pointless to argue with him as when hes finished dealing with the person who insulted him with his quick wit their trying toooo hard to muster a pitiful comeback.

Good guy,and a very solid reviewer, as good an example as anyone here of an 'all around' sort of writer. Insightful, humorous, and quite observant.

My guess is that with or without his long-held top of the heap rating, Irish would still be one of the most popular writer/contributors on RIA. His prolific body of work reflects a thoughtful and thought-provoking writing style. He is often hilarious with the ability to make a definite and concise point. Hopefully his absence from the site is only temporary and due to a long enjoyable vacation rather than a permanent retirement from RIA.

Gives the appearance of being a curmudgeon and a bit of a misanthrope at times but that persona belies a deep sense of humanity and a passion about his convictions. Writes with wit, humor, and and candor. Always interesting.
