I meant it. This is an opinion site, the fact that you're not shy about yours keeps it fun.

He says what he wants and doesn't give a damn. For that, I salute him.

Ridgewalker tends to write thoughtful, well-researched and occasionally funny reviews. I don't agree with his every opinion, but I always respect them. And I like how he presents them.

See how far you can get without it.

When it comes down to it, I think that all anyone wants is to be happy. Ironically, most people make themselves miserable searching for this elusive happiness.

...Maybe its just me.

I was born poor and I've stayed that way ever since. I would be lying if I said I didn't want money because I do. But more importantly, I want what money can buy: I want freedom. Freedom to leave town on a whim. Freedom to quit work and take care of my terminally ill grandmother. Freedom to take a vacation or buy something completely stupid just because I want it at the moment. Freedom from the worry that I might not be able to pay my cell phone bill or car insurance. I think that to have that freedom would be to have peace and happiness, the biggest desires one can have. And maybe it turns out that money can't buy happiness, but damned if I don't want to find out for myself.

Nothing that I have ever wanted for myself, I tend to duck responsibilty. But to be sure, it is a driving force of many. And I think that the parodox is that those who want it, are least deserving of it and are those that get it. Unfortunately, this leads to war, oppression, famine, and ultimately revolution. Which starts the whole ugly cycle all over again. I think this craving is one that should definitely be kept under control. I'm not saying that it is all bad, but when it is allowed unchecked, it has the potential to be horrible.

Sex, or sexy? Because they are both different, but they both fit in the context. I desire to be sexy to others so that my desire to have sex would be fullfilled. However, as part of the Buddhist teachings of detachment, this is one of the desires of the world that must be overcome. Try to picture the object of your affection for what he or she really is. Flesh, which covers muscle, which covers bone, which covers blood and puss and bile and stomach acid. Now that this person is unattractive, you are no longer tempted.
If overcoming desire is not something tha appeals to you, picture the person naked and then go have sex with them. Either way, they are both good choices.

By itself no. But if you incorporate the teachings into your everyday life then it can be a definite asset.

According to certain theodistic arguments, God allows suffering as a means to bring people closer to him. When bad things happen it can humble us, teach us and cause us to grow. But this only works if you let it.
According to Buddhist thought, one learns to overcome conflict by learning detachment from literally ecerything. The truly enlightened individual will no longer be at war with their surroundings.
