I'm not sure I'd do it again but I was on a show several years ago. At the time I thought a reality show might be a way to get a jump start as an actor; I see how off-base that thinking was now but I thought it could be a way in. I also saw some big paychecks for the winner on a few of those shows like Survivor. That being said I think the risks outweigh the reward. The novelty has long warn off on these shows so any "celebrity" gained would likely be short lived, although shows like "American's Got Talent" and "American Idol" could jump start a career. The dating show I was in was on CBS at the same time as the Summer Olympics one year, plus the premise didn't seem to go over very well so it was dropped after two episodes. The show featured three women who interviewed about 100 guys and narrowed it down to about 5 or 6 that they'd each like to go out with. I was one of the 5 or 6 for one girl. We had a couple dates in San Francisco and Chicago, and while they were manufactured in a way, what happened on those dates was pretty exclusively our call. There were producers who would ask you questions before and after to maybe get a reaction or a result, but there were no demands or even requests for certain behavior. I'm sure every show is a little different but I don't think reality shows are staged. All being said, it's not likely something I would do again. While little good publicity is going to result from these shows, a lot of bad publicity could result; they are high-pressure situations, I don't think it matters who you are, when you're on camera all day and emotions get high, you might say or do something you would only say or do on your worst day out in the real world. Now that reaction/dialogue is on camera and might get out to the universe, and if it does and it's bad, it might affect your career/relationships etc.

I like to visit my friends and family there, and there's lots of nice places. It's affordable, too. Unfortunately it gets way too hot in the summer.

I know it's very beautiful, and the people actually care about the environment, but I'm not sure I could take the hard winters.

I've been a little homesick for Connecticut; it's come and gone over the years. There is a town I really have my eye on now that I have a family, which is Fairfield. It's a suburb-ish type town with good schools, close to the shore, and it's between two big cities (big to CT anyway), New Haven and Stamford. Plus you can get on the train and get to NYC in an hour and a half. I like the idea of living there, plus my extended family is there and some old friends. Housing is also reasonably affordable; much less than what you'd get in most of CA, and there's no state income tax, but property taxes can be pretty hight. What would be holding me back predominately is that it's pretty hard to walk away from the weather in California, and honestly I really like a lot of the people in CA. Connecticut folks are good too but there's something about the SoCal folks that really vibes with me. The way I see it is I've got 3 years to figure it out because that's when my son starts school. I like the expression "more will be revealed".
