It's probably the only time I'll ever reference Adam Sandler on here. It's funny though.

For me, traveling compensates lately for a lack of friends, and being single for the first time in almost a decade. Thus South America trip #3 in 2016. Anyway, traveling is fun, so you should try it.

Friendships are really special to have. I've lost count of the number I've fucked up on and wish I could get back. It's tough to make friends in your 30's, b/c a lot of contemporaries are married, w/kids etc..., and only want to hang out w/other married people. I remember Joe Strummer said that 'without people you're nothing.' I think there's something to that. I wish I had more people in my life.

There's nothing like having fun. I probably should go out and have some.

Call me nuts, but I really don't like the idea of dreams. Call it the Jedi thing or whatever, but that "do or do not" thing has certainly been a very real force for me. When I want to do a thing, I do a thing.

I learned that in the Marines, I suppose. Willpower is one of the greater powers out there. Shit, most people thought I'd be lucky to make it through boot camp. Underestimation of my will right there. Other Marines thought I was out of place and should be discharged as a failure to adapt. It was a road, I won't lie, but... Honorable Discharge at the rank of Corporal. Fuck anyone that said I couldn't do all the things a Marine should, because I did them at every opportunity I was given at Stinger Battery in Okinawa, which was a place the haters said would finish me off.

Now, a year ago I had this batshit crazy idea about having lightsaber walks, because Star Wars and shit, you know? I didn't dream, I didn't ask around to see if anyone was interested... I grabbed all my sabers, posted an event, and hosted. Some people still won't come out since they don't like me or whatever, but we're having local events with as many as 50 people showing up now and I've made networking with other fan groups in places like Houston, New Orleans, and even far flung places like Singapore. How did this happen? I had the resolve to do a thing... that easy.

Dreams aren't anything compared to action. You want to do something? Do something. People see you for what you DO. Shit, at work they're talking about extra training and responsibilities, which is of course the path to more money. That should be nice.

I guess what I'm saying is that the notion of a "dream" as I see it dismisses its possibility of becoming a reality. Be bold and do... take that fucker by the neck and shake it instead of just gazing into the great beyond and wishing something would happen.
