I have been an audio engineer for over 35 years now. I have dealt with speakers my whole life. I recently purchased Paradigm's Monitor 9 series speakers for my bedroom theatre. Let me just say that they didn't come close to adding up to my expectations.
Here is a quote that Paradigm has put onto their website:

My response to this is: My God, I hope they paid that person a lot of money to say that on their website.
Lets just say that Monitor 9's give Paradigm a bad wrap. I was comparing them to my Kef Reference 104ab speakers from 30 years ago, and the Kef's just blew them away in all aspects (clarity, highs, lows, depth...)
My advice to those wishing to purchase some excellent speakers...look at the following companies. If you disagree with me, then it is your own loss. Like I said before, I have been dealing with music for the majority of my life, and have many many friends who have as well, and I all get the same response from these speakers.
Anyways, look at these speaker companies:
Kef, Bose, Bang and Olufsen, Mission, Martin Logan. You may be spending some more money, but it is well worth it in this case.
