After a car accident, back pain was a constant. Drugs from my MD had more side effects than cure. The neurologist to which I was referred didn't help a bit. My boss at the time sent me to Dr. She, and he said he could help in 4-5 treatments. 4 treatments later, I was pain free. The only side effect was that a persistent numbness in my neck that had bothered me for years also was gone.

Even my MD - an internist who was as traditional as they come - called him for more information because she was amazed at the turnaround in my pain.

Months later I pulled a muscle in my back, called Dr. She & crawled to my car. I walked out of his office upright and was pain free the next day. I wish I still lived near KC - Dr. She is an amazing healer.

Kate's was a lifesaver for me while I was taking care of a friend's dog (Toby, pictured below) for about a year. I had a nightmare of a downstairs neighbor who never left his apartment and insisted Toby was barking non-stop all day long. He left nasty notes on my door constantly and tried to rally my other neighbors to get me kicked out of the building. I have a supremely guilty conscience, and I don't deal well with confrontation, so I decided to enroll Toby in Daily Doggie Daycare at Kate's Canine Resort. As it turns out, the notes kept coming and the complaints continued...turns out it was another dog the whole time! (asshole.) Anyhow Toby loved going to Kate's so much that I kept him enrolled until he moved back in with my friend (and I headed off to sunny California).

Kate herself is fantastic with dogs, and knows how to deal with nervous aggression quite well. Toby was always a bit tentative around other dogs, and going to Kate's helped with that immensely because he got to play as part of a pack on a constant basis. His behavior on the leash with other dogs improved significantly, thanks to Kate.

He definitely tired himself out going there every day, but not so much that he didn't enjoy a good run at the nearby dog park after I picked him up each night. My friend, who had a particularly energetic dog, would send her there on fridays so that she and her husband could have a date-night without feeling guilty about leaving her at home for the evening.

About my only complaint (and this is a tiny one) is that he needed to be picked up by 6:00pm, which was a little inconvenient for me (but probably wouldn't be for most people in Kansas City....my insane work schedule was entirely self-induced there). They offer kennel + daycare while you're out of town, and all of their services are extremely cheap, and you get an even better deal if you buy a monthly package of daycare visits.

Here's Toby, relaxing with Oskar after a day at Kate's Canine Resort :)

If you like mediocre bar food slapped onto Styrofoam plates with no attention given to presentation or health codes, this is the place for you!

Walking in the place feels like the college bar where everyone goes to ride the electric bull at 4 AM Sunday morning. Despite this, I allowed the waiter to seat me. I was escorted to the back room, which I could mistake for the basement of my grandmothers house if not for the creepy painting of a matador on the wall.

The table had a green linoleum covering from 1972. It was sticky. I was given some napkins (paper), but they proved useless against the ancient table gunk. So I unfolded the napkins and carefully spread them out before me like a hypochondriac readying an airport stall.

The waiter came back and I ordered the chicken tenders. They arrived about 30 minutes later. I ate them with the same pleasure a hooker must feel when servicing a John. Four hours later and they have become a bowling ball in my stomach.

If you like eating at bowling alleys, this is the place for you. Try the cheeseburger.

Beware when booking a trip with Brennco. You may end up paying more than you bargained for.

My husband booked a suprise cruise for us this coming January. When we received confirmation of the trip, there was no notation about cancellation policies other than to say that Brennco charges $50 per person (this was not disclosed when my husband made the reservation). As it turns out, we had to cancel and now were told that we had to pay $200 to cancel because the cruise line was charging fees as well. When I asked to see where those fees had been disclosed, I was rudely told that my husband had been informed of the fees and urged to purchase travel insurance. He says he was not informed of this. Of course they urged the travel insurance -- they get a commission on it.

I told them I would forward the matter to the Better Business Bureau. Suddenly, I got an enraged e-mail from their president -- John Brenneman -- accusing me of making offensive and inflammatory remarks, saying that I was making up excuses because I had failed to purchase travel insurance and stating he would charge me all the fees I had coming.

I have been in travel for many years and would NEVER speak to a client this way no matter who was right or wrong. In addition, I would never consider charging a client a fee to line my own pocket if they had to cancel their trip. Provider fees can sometimes not be avoided, but an agent should never charge an additional fee!

AVOID working with Brennco! Find a travel agent who lists ALL cancellation policies in writing and who doesn't charge additional fees so that they can make money off your trip no matter whether you take it or not.
