Beware when booking a trip with Brennco. You may end up paying more than you bargained for.
My husband booked a suprise cruise for us this coming January. When we received confirmation of the trip, there was no notation about cancellation policies other than to say that Brennco charges $50 per person (this was not disclosed when my husband made the reservation). As it turns out, we had to cancel and now were told that we had to pay $200 to cancel because the cruise line was charging fees as well. When I asked to see where those fees had been disclosed, I was rudely told that my husband had been informed of the fees and urged to purchase travel insurance. He says he was not informed of this. Of course they urged the travel insurance -- they get a commission on it.
I told them I would forward the matter to the Better Business Bureau. Suddenly, I got an enraged e-mail from their president -- John Brenneman -- accusing me of making offensive and inflammatory remarks, saying that I was making up excuses because I had failed to purchase travel insurance and stating he would charge me all the fees I had coming.
I have been in travel for many years and would NEVER speak to a client this way no matter who was right or wrong. In addition, I would never consider charging a client a fee to line my own pocket if they had to cancel their trip. Provider fees can sometimes not be avoided, but an agent should never charge an additional fee!
AVOID working with Brennco! Find a travel agent who lists ALL cancellation policies in writing and who doesn't charge additional fees so that they can make money off your trip no matter whether you take it or not.
