I'm a 55 old guy
About me: We believe many things, but we now KNOW three. First, Obama is a socialist. To his core, and so is the core of the US Government. Second, the objective of his presidency is to end the free market and with it freedom. Third, whether he succeeds depends on people of moderate ideology sitting back and doing nothing. These three things we do know.

Another lightweight resume, devoid of a track record, given enormous influence and power. What happened to all the table-pounders who railed about the incompetents in the Bush Administration? Looks a little like a double standard, particularly if this guy assumes the helm at GM. Not that Obama has any capapbility, but I noticed none of the left-wing railers picked up on his scant resume, either at GM OR the White House.

Crowley looks like he's over his head after managing a $1.5 million annual budget, he now is responsible for $200 million. And advocates estimate they need $5 billion. One thing is certain: with a liberal administration in the White House, they'll receive every penny. And more.

Just to amplify the point, only a radical left-wing administration devoid of the ability to detect irony would appoint a socialist to create "green" jobs in a market economy. He had no intention of creating any jobs. He intended to further the socialist takeover begun by Obama.

To me the Obama Administration sometimes looks childishly amateurish but never more than the timing they chose to announce Jones' resignation. If Glenn Beck can use a guys's own words and get the admin to can him, how many planks do they have lying around? Most of the czars have shouted and repeated things much worse. There aren't many moderates in that gaggle.

I'm pretty sure Nixon appointed the first Czar. Reagan and Bush '41 each had one, Clinton might have had six or eight. Obama has taken it to the current ridiculous level both by the sheer number and the crazy radical backgrounds he has ensconced with unlimited power.

True, as of this writing. But, their days of great prominence and significance are all but over. Fox News is the only outlet with anything resembling decent ratings but the days of a press deserving of the trust of the majority of Americans are long since gone. The current generation of "journalists" are little more than ideological shill for one side or another.

They inherited a great calling and turned it into a cesspool of cheerleading, shouting and name-calling. A pox on all their houses, even the 10% or so that is conservative.

It's funny, mag, that you give Serena a pass because, although she violated decorum, it was acting without thinking, whereas Joe Wilson's reaction was contrived and conspiratorial to accelerate fund-raising and cashing in on right-wing nonsense. Like the only side that spews nonsense is the right. I thought I was the one who injected politics into everything.

Not an icon for the past 20 or so years but Mary had a wonderfully low voice for a woman and Paul Stookie and Peter Yarrow became quite accomplished at harmonizing around her. "Puff" is probably their best known song although, in their Greenwich Village days, hanging around with a bunch of unknown (but soon to be well known) artists and musicians, Dylan was the poet/composer of choice, and they were quite radical in their politics.

John Sebastian was a friend in those days, as was John Phillips, later of the Mamas and the Papas. The song that catapulted Peter, Paul & Mary onto the pop charts (they liked the money but that was about all) was "Leavin' On a Jet Plane" written by John Denver. Sometime around 1970, Peter Yarrow got married and Paul wrote the "Wedding Song" which I played at countless weddings in the 1970's.

Their concerts, particularly their reunion concerts in the 1980's and 1990's and later, were quite enjoyable and often quite spontaneous. I saw them in Syracuse and had the chance to talk for a few minutes with Peter Yarrow. They were pretty comfortable by then and only did concerts for some cause. In Syracuse, there was an effort to rehab a beautiful old vaudeville theatre and they donated most of their proceeds. There were always rumors about Mary having an affair with one or the other (Peter or Paul) and she always categorically denied it with grace and certainty. May this great lady rest in peace.

That's a good way to leave it, we'll agree to . . . agree later.

Attempting to characterize my posts as rage-filled, or bitter, or lacking of respect doesn't make it so, my body of work here, including my recent exchange with you, speak otherwise. I just don't think you should insult independents by calling yourself one. If, in subsequent posts, you show yourself to be anything but a garden-variety liberal, I'll correct myself, but I don't see that happening.
