I suspect you may be right about Palin being worse than Bush should she achieve power.

I don't see Bush as particulary politically astute; he just had Karl Rove working for him. And, he supplied at least as many malapropisms for the media as she does.

Time will tell, but even if Obama does as well as Hoover, I don't think the economy is going to get better any time soon, and so I believe it's mostly a matter of how bad/how fast.

I also suspect part of the problem for McCain was the fearful prospect of Sarah Palin ascending to the throne.

I hate to keep beating this drum, but George W. Bush was equally unprepared for prime time and he came close enough to winning in 2000 to allow the election to be stolen, and - even worse - he actually won in 2004.

Therefore, I see no major impediment to a Palin presidency should Obama fail to revive the US economy... and at this time I don't see him doing anything that could prevent the coming depression.
