I liked Baines a hell of a lot and he had some decent years but none of them were Hall of Fame quality, and while his career numbers were solid, they aren't the kind of thing that gets a plaque in Cooperstown either.

Apparently this is an opinion shared by the BBWAA voters too. Last year he got only 32 votes, barely enough to keep him on the ballot, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop off entirely this year.

If he had managed to accumulate another 136 hits in his career and reached the magic 3,000 hit number, his chances of election would quadruple at least, and frankly he would probably already be elected.

Not just a product of Coors Field, he had good years before and after playing for The Rockies. He had power and was a pretty good first baseman defensively. He seemed like a good guy and he was better than over 95% of all guys who ever played the game. That being said, he really belongs in a very good but not great category with other non- HOF'ers like Cecil Cooper, Bill Buckner, etc.

Review Icon z67 reviewed Nikolai in Vodka:
Taste absolutely horrible!!!!! But is 100 proof vs msst other brands in the same price range that are only 80 proof. So if ur strapped for cash, just doing shoots, and have plenty to chase with then go for it

I read all the reviews and laugh. We experience the same problems. I can't catch the game because there's a 90% chance my box isn't working. Today, 11/28/09, my local channels aren't showing up. Funny, because they were there this morning before work. The receiver always wants to update when your watching TV. Your DVR shows are dropped because of signal loss. The box resets itself constantly. The BBB is a joke. I suggest this:

Class action lawsuit.

Here's my point: What if you rented a car for 30 days? Only, when you drove it home did you find out it only ran on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and occasionally on the weekend. You would be irritated and demand a refund/new car. Right? What if they didn't do anything to fix it....for a while, anyway. You are paying for a service you are NOT receiving. This is a breach of contract. They provide service and IN EXCHANGE, you provide payment. Do you pay for electricity you don't use? Does the electric company ASSUME your lights are always on? NO, you pay when the service is provided. And since Dish Network can't provide service they are stealing from us.

ANYONE KNOW A GOOD LAWYER?? Let's get their attention.

Not very significant except for it involving Woods, who is the defending champion at protecting his privacy.

Call me suspicious, but this story as so far reported, doesn't hold a lot of water. If one of my neighbors crashes his car into a tree 50 feet from his house at 2:00 AM and has his wife "rescue" him by breaking a window with a golf club, I'm going to think something besides "business as usual."

Everybody respected Harold, he was the #1 overall pick in 1977, he was an All Star, he was a good hitter, he lasted for a long time and put up some big totals. The problem is that although he had years in which you looked at the totals and you were impressed, you were never exactly astonished. Harold, who played for The A's, Orioles, and Rangers but was best known as a White Sox player, was also a natural DH, he was rather slow and was not a good defensive player even before the injuries began. A good player but not worthy of Cooperstown.

I pretty much agree with zuchinibut. Gonzalez is a very good fielder at short, and he can hit homers. He had over 20 homers one year with Florida, though he typically hits about 7-9. Unfortunately, he never walks, has poor on base percentages, and although he's not exactly old, he is aging. Because his defense is good he's a good player to have if you have an offensive juggernaut and can afford to carry a weak hitter at shortstop, or if you need a stopgap solution for a year. However, it's a bit strange that a pretty bad club like Toronto, who should be focused on rebuilding their club, would sign him to such a deal as they have more pressing needs.

The guy must've been really grateful to get out of Pittsburgh in that midyear trade back in the summer: as he resigned with The Cubs very quickly. He's a good relief pitcher and a solid signing, but I'm afraid that The Cubs are going to have to seal up a lot of other leaks too in order to become a strong contender again.

Flook is another one of a growing number of location based services like Foursquare, Loopt, Gowalla, etc.

With Flook, you make "cards" out of the places you go - snapping a photo with a caption. Cards can be places, sites, bars, etc, and you can then browse other cards that others upload. It's a user generated database of photos with location associated with each.

The UI is pretty neat, though I had issues with some basic tasks like searching for people I know on the network, and getting the iphone app to remember that I was logged in. I tried creating a card for Coit Tower using a photo on my camera. It worked fine, but then the app assumed the card I created was in the same place that my phone was located at the time of creation. So Coit Tower has moved from North Beach to the Mission.

One of the ultimate good field/ no hit players in recent times. Having Gonzalez and McDonald assures Toronto of having good gloves at that important position. Both players are aging though, and while neither player is a good hitter, Gonzalez at least has some pop in his bat. McDonald never had any, and he's one of those guys who, as zuchinibut alluded to, must be a good clubhouse guy because when his career is over, I think people will be surprised at how long he lasted in the majors. This move doesn't really help Toronto very much.

Five evil Liberals decide to start killing conservatives who they think the world would be better off without. One of them even kills the sheriff. They start growing tomatoes on the graves.

The house that this movie was filmed in burned to the ground immediately after this film was finished. Can these five liberals be stopped? You'll have to buy this film to find out. I give this movie a 4 star rating.

Placing eighth on the All-Time homerun list is impressive, but steroids, expansion, and the shrinking of ball parks have made the 500 homerun number a lot easier to attain than before. McGwire is a borderline guy to me, and the steroid issue isn't winning him any new fans. Despite finishing eighth in career homeruns, the guy is 192nd in runs and 66th in RBI. You would think those numbers would be better, but McGwire was too one dimensional. McGwire is still a borderline guy for the Hall of Fame, who I see on the outside looking in.
