Oh my God, talk about getting rob front of your eyes.  I mean you go to bank and feels you will be safe there. I felt like I'm standing between bank's thief. I will not choose bank of america anymore for my business.  I had several problem like their representative can not count the money right (was given wrong amount of money), no respect, party time front of customers, pens don't work, no money envelopes were given even after request, dust on counters and dead flies.  I talked to the manager and he was told I'll be right back, but never came.  I closed my saving account and my checking on August 21, 2009.

Bank tellers are full of misinformation and different people in the same branch tell you different things, like they will charge $10/day if you overdraft and have overdraft protection vs. $10/item. Also, if you overdraft, you will be charged $35/item. What they dont tell you is that the post the largest charges first, even if you made them when you had money in your account. Meaning, I got charged $35 for three 75 cent charges, even though those charges were made when I had money in there. Trust me, most banks don't do this. They post charges by the dates they were made, not by the amount. Also, BofA doesn't give you the option of not overdrafting. Meaning, I want a bank that will deny my card when theres no money in the account. A BofA ATM or Debit will never tell you insufficient funds when your charging or withdrawing. So, believe me, RUN! I'm changing banks pronto.

Terrible
My blood pressure went so high with Customer Service that I had to stay in bed the whole day to get it down.
I have never experienced something like this before and still cannot believe it.
I tried to do a wire transfert and went directly to the bank to do so; At the bank, I Learned that I had to do it online and was given a sheet to follow direction to do my transaction. I went online to do the wire and realized that for any transaction over $1000 I had to pay additional security fee; Since I was running out of time, I agreed to pay the fee; but when I clicked on the "pay fee" button, I got an error message that I could not do so; the option was not available. I called customer service at least 4 times to get some help to complete the transaction, and got transfered from one department to the next until I reached one representative who told me that I was selected to do a credit review. I explained to the representative that I wanted to do a wire transfer and that I spent my whole afternoon to do so and I was not interested in any credit review at this time, he told me that he could not help me unless I went to the credit review process; I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me that the supervisor will do the same thing. I finally started the credit review process which took forever and finally, I learned that they could not give me the same line of credit anymore. I went from a request to do a wire transfert to a decrease in my line of credit. Then I tried again to do the wire transfert online for $1000 to avoid the other fee that was not available and got a message that I had to call a 18884368828 number to remove the hold on the account. I called the number four (4) times and waited each time 20 minutes and I could not talk to anybody; the message said that they are experiencing high volume of calls. I started the first call at exactly 8:00 a.m., I spent the whole day trying to reach someone at the number with no luck. I finally called a different number and asked to talk to a manager; after going through the whole process of identification, the manager asked us to go to a branch since they could not verify us. We then decided to go to a local branch and spent two hours working with the branch manager to get the transaction completed; she tried to call all the numbers to help us out and we finally had to leave the bank because she could not get anyone to help us out. We had to find another ways to get this wire done outside of Bank of America
I am not sure that I understand what is going on with customer service and what type of service is available to customers. Even managers from the bank cannot help us out.... I am now looking for another bank to transfer my money so I don't go through the same experience I had.
This has been the worst experience ever with Bank of America. and I would not encourage anyone to do business with them.

Excessive fees, slow to clear deposits, "even Cash deposits"

I opened a student account for my daughter. I was told it was Free, they charged my account monthly for the "FREE" Account. I went to close my account because the monthly fees had depleted it to zero, they said they couldn't accept my Real Banks Debit card to cover the negative balance for the "RESONABLE FEES" that were due. After getting the account Closed they could not provide me with a reciept to show that the account was closed, only could show a Zero balance. It is going to be interesting to see if they charge addiitonal money for the Zero Balance. I encourage everybody to Stop doing business with this Money Sucking Institution. These are the same people that bought Merril Lynch, paid huge bonuses then need A Bail Out. They are paying it back of course....LOL... With the "Resonable Fees" they charge their customers....... Never again... Find yourself a local Bank, you'll be much happier!!

I MA JUST GLAD I HAVE MY DEPOSIT SLIP WITH DATE AND TIME PLUS I PRINTED ALL THE RECEIPTS FOR MY PAYMENTS. BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU HERE I COME. I would rate them a 0 but it won't let me. 1 star is more than they deserve. Avoid this bank at all costs. The customer service is terrible and they charge unreasonable fees for pretty much everything. Move your money to a local bank and pray the bank of america goes under.

Unfortunately, I stayed with BOA too long, too many years, 16 in total. Early on, they weren't that bad, but now they have proven themselves the consummate A-HOLES that they really are! They charge $35 for every overdraft even if it's a $5 item.

Here is my sad, but true story...
I made a deposit of $200 because my account was low on funds. It was done as an online transfer (from my savings account), the transfer usually takes 2 business days, this was Saturday. I had four debits that hit my account on Monday that were, $15, $11 and $8, and $29, and my account was overdrawn. Yes! This was my mistake, I take responsibility for this, but since I had not looked at my account I didn't know this. On Tuesday I checked my balance from a BOA ATM, it said my balance was $153.40 I said okay the deposit must have made it on time, so I took out $20 from the ATM. The same day I bought lunch and again paid with my BOA debit card thinking there was $133 there, lunch was $9, and on the way home from work spent $5 at the store so I could make something for dinner. The next day I checked my online BOA account to find a total of seven $35 charges totaling $245. None of my purchases or ATM withdraw was covered. When I called their customer service line I said okay I would be responsible for the first four overdraft fees because my deposit did not get there on time, however could they remove the other three, because their overdraft fees ($245) actually drove my account back into the negative balance, and the BOA ATM showed that I had supposedly had $153 in my account on the same day they actually leveled $140 in overdraft fees against my account. They said no, they could not do it; it was locked into their "system"!!! I spoke with 5 customer service reps, and 4 of them could not help me in anyway and were either rude or like robots spouting out jargon about how the BOA system works, in all fairness only one rep was actually professional but also could not do anything for me.

Yes, the BOA "system" does work, as a nice money making system for them, while the rest of us get the shaft! Okay, it's my fault for not having enough money in the account in the first place, but can't these mother f*ckers wait a few days before they punish you with their outrageous fees! My deposit would have covered my purchases, and left a positive balance had they waited before raping my account for their fees! In 16 years I'd only had overdrafts a few times. I was a good customer, but they don't care about that, and they don't care if they loose customers as long as they can line their pockets. And oh when they make a mistake, which has been plenty in last 16 years, you have to jump through hoops to rectify it, and they don't care how much inconvenience they cause YOU!

Yes, I have switched banks, and cancelled my BOA credit cards as well; they do not deserve my business! By far their customer service is the worst I have ever come across, and it seems worse now than it ever was. If the topic of BOA ever comes up in a casual conversation 9 times out of 10 the person I'm talking with has been screwed in some way by BOA, and or they have a friend or relative that has been screwed by these idiots. Why is BOA still in business at all? It's ironic that their acronym is BOA, like the snake that squeezes its prey with no mercy and then swallows it whole. They show no mercy for their customers, they just want to squeeze every dollar they can out of you until you can't take it any more. They are nothing more then criminals that are allowed to operate as a legit business, which they are not. I'm sure that their banking practices are illegal, because they are definitely immoral.

F.U., Bank of America!

Epilogue*
These banks did what they wanted to do and as a result caused a mortgage crisis, they got bailed out (by us) and now they are still doing what they want because no one has any control over them. The rest of us are under their f-ing mercy because unfortunately we need banks so we can cash our paychecks, and move money around in this economy. Banks use our money so they can make money, but have no sympathy for people who actually make up the economy, just keep in mind, WE ARE THE ECONOMY!

They are Horrible!! STAY AWAY FROM THEM.
I applied for a refi on my mortgage in March. I still have nothing in Aug. I think they suck! Every time I tryied to call nobody answered thier phone. I had to leave a vioce message and hope that some one would call back. Or they would change my contact person. I now have found out how much extra they were going to charge compared to other lenders so no I do not like Bank Of America. The only reason they get one star is because I had to rate something and NONE was excepted.

Bank of America is the absolute WORST bank out there. Stay stay stay AWAY! They have all these great commercials out there right, about how they are helping small businesses and how you can deposit cash from an ATM no less and it will post that same day up for deposits up until 7pm! Here is the truth, you can take CASH into the bank at 4pm and it will not post until the next day. Seriously, I take cash into the bank at 4pm and my deposit slip reads the next day! They don't post checks until sometimes a week later.
Bottom line is I've been screwed over way too many times by this bank. You can't even get in touch with anyone. No one returns phone calls. Bank of America are frauds. They should pull that crap advertising that by the way the taxpayers paid for, considering they received the largest bailout funds in the banking industry. They have no clue what customer service is and could care less about anything but their bottom line. They give you the big speech to get you to open an account but it's all talk. They do nothing they promise.

Bank of America 1

I used to receive excellent service from the Bank of America from way back when it was Seafirst Bank. I had a pretty good fixed interest rate on my credit card of 7.9%. This is why I used BofA for most of my credit card purchases. Then in April of this year, I (along with millions of other credit card holders) got notice of an increase in the interest rate – mine doubled. After calling customer service, I got a bunch of meaningless excuses as to why my interest rate went up. Their answer - mostly a lot of blame placed on the tightening of credit throughout the economy (Bank of America will never admit to their irresponsible lending and banking practices as one of the reasons this economy is tanking).

My stats: $17K credit limit, $12K credit card balance, 15.9% interest rate, almost $300 in finance charges per month. By the way, I racked up all this debt on an investment that went bad, not because I went on too many shopping sprees. So then my credit card started accruing interest at such a fast pace, that I could barely keep up with the minimum charges. (I have always been a customer in good standing, never going over my credit limit, always paying at least the minimum, etc). So I called the bank this past Monday to try to get some relief. I talked to a customer service representative and told him the situation, asked if I could settle my credit card bill for a lower amount if I paid the whole thing off. He said that my account wasn’t “stamped” as being eligible for a settlement. So I asked him, so in order for me to be eligible for a settlement I would have to NOT make payments for several months, then you would be calling me to offer a settlement. But because I’m making payments in a timely manner and you’re making tons of money off me, I won’t qualify and you’d be happy to take all my money in finance charges. He couldn’t respond to that. So I asked what else my options were. He said that I could apply for a hardship review, and if I qualified then they would internally close my account (would not affect my credit), would lower my interest rate to possibly 5.25%, with a 5 yr repayment term. I said that I would think about it.

Tuesday. I check my account online. My credit limit has been reduced to $12,600. No phone call, no explanation. I go to the bank and pay off my account in FULL!!! $0 balance, thank you very much.

Wednesday. I call the bank again. Their lame lame lame reason for reducing my limit to $12,600 was basically because of the info I had given them on Monday, which was hey help me out, I want to pay this off but I can’t with the interest rate I’m being charged and all the fees I’m accruing. I got so pissed because basically I felt like I had been stabbed in the back for asking for help, and then having BofA turn around and use this info against me! I told the rep on Wed that the guy I talked to on Monday should have had the balls to tell me up front that the info I was giving him might affect my credit limit, instead of making me feel like I was getting some help. Imagine, calling a bank for help with your account and having them use that info against you!

Wait, it gets better. So the rep told me that the rep on Monday didn’t get demographic info so he had to make assumptions, which led up to the reduced credit limit. (What!@#!@# I don’t even understand any of that!) I tell him look, I just want my credit of $17K reinstated so that my credit score will improve, I don’t even need or want to use that credit card, that they could close the account internally if they wanted to. So he said, OK, he could help me out if I give him the demographic info they need. So I give him info about my income, that I own my house, etc, etc. By the end of this conversation, he tells me another load of bull about my account being in good standing but that now, after a closer review of my account based on the demographic info I had just given him, my credit limit would be reduced further, to a paltry and pathetic $5K. I was like what!@#!@!!!??? I called you guys to try and get some help to manage my account and I get punished not once, not twice, but three times over?!!@!! My blood pressure is so high right now, I can barely stand it. I told the rep, I can’t believe I called you - you pretend you’re trying to help me and yet you’re getting info that could come back and bite me, and it has. I told him I can’t believe I’m such an idiot for even trying to resolve anything with you guys.

So the moral of the story is this: You don’t matter to Bank of America. It exists only to make a profit. It is completely self-serving. It hides behind those poor customer service representatives who only have their scripts and standard responses to draw from, who have to listen to frustrated, fed-up, irate customers like me. The message to me was loud and clear. I am going to start the process of transferring all my bill pay agreements, and close my checking and savings accounts. I’m going to try my luck with another bank, I hope there is a better one out there, heaven help us if there isn’t. By the way, I have had a wonderful experience with U.S. Bank. They treat me like an actual person. I have not used them for my everyday banking because they have less of an ATM presence, but I think I am willing to forego that as a sticking point. Case in point, US Bank has stayed out of all this credit card mess, anyone notice they aren’t mentioned in the news (and that’s a good thing). Good luck.

Just as the everyone else wil say, this bank is terrible.
They obviously don't value costumer service.
The representatives couldn't care less at the fact that I have to close my accounts b/c I have been pretty much raped by their fees.
Be very very careful with pending charges. Apparently they go by certain orders of pending charges and will charge you overdraft fees even though you have money in the account. It hides behind the idea that the pending charges are pending and the order of the charges and deposits are too complicated to ever understand.
But the strange thing is that it goes in order of the amount of the charge, rather than the time of the charges and deposits.
I have been slammed with numerous fee's totaling up to hundreds of dollars for ONE overlap of a pending charge and deposit that has just built and built to being charged for each charge after the initial charge on my account.
Close close close your Bank of America accounts b/f you get piled with charges.
Bank of America cares nothing of their customers and only is interested in compiling complicated fees.
Bank of America has cost me over $300 in fees to be a customer.

They are the worst bank I have ever dealt with. I just closed all my accounts with them after 12 Yrs because of a mistake of theirs that they refused to fix. I have went with a local bank and am extremely pleased. If you are smart you will stay Far away from Bank of America. They never admit they are wrong and you will always be punished whether it's your fault or not.

Fraud, fraud, fraud! Scam, scam, scam! Cheaters! Stealers! This bank does not even deserve a one star rating. If I could give it a zero I would. Do not believe any of the ads they advertist for low interest rates for 2-3 percent. It will only last a short amount of time and they will increase it to 25 percent. There are three methods of payment. If you mail it, they will not receive it till after the payment date. If you call and pay they will say the date you asked to pay is past the due date. If you pay through the computer they will claim they never got the money, or in my case, they charged the amount twice and said I did not have enough money in the bank and raised the interest rate. Their customer service is incredibly poor. The representatives always lie. Eventually, I was able to solve the problem and paid 1.9 on half of my loan. They then called and told me that it would again be changed to 25 percent because of the board of directors did not prove it. When I tried contacting them, customer service told me that I could not talk to a specific representative because they did not know where that person is. Bottom line is find any other bank or you will be stuck with this bank and your credit history will be destroyed. You will have to pay thousands in fines and interest. Customer service is the worst ever. Do not believe some of the five star reviews because I am sure they are written by bank employees. All of the people I talked to agree with me that this bank is the worst. All states have cases against them and many people have written to attorney generals and lawyers to explain how this bank is stealing money. I have been destroyed by this bank and would like to save someone else. Please take my advice so you can be saved from this awful and greedy bank.

First of all I've been a customer there for over ten years, so you would think they would refund a charge or two if they made a mistake or there was a reasonable mis-understanding, especially if they were at risk of losing a good customer. One issue is there always seem to be random fees and charges. I end up watching my accounts like a hawk, i'm sure over the years Ive lost hundreds of dollars to maintenance fees and other crap. What caused me to finally close my accounts was three overdraft charges to my checking account totaling $150. I thought this strange since I have overdraft protection on this account. Long story short they had linked my overdraft protection to the wrong savings account, which had no money in it. When i explained to them that they had linked the protection to the wrong account they claimed that this is the account i had wanted to use.... which it was not. I explained that i obviously would not link my overdraft protection to an empty account. Needless to say they had no answer and hid behind the fact that they have no records of the overdraft setup and and cant verify that the mistake was theirs. I said well I have two accounts, one with no money in it, that I was about to close and one with thousands of dollars in it. Do you really think I would choose the account with a zero balance which would give me no protection? I also asked why their representative would not have alerted me to the fact that the overdraft protection would not work with this account they linked it to. Their response was well you should have put money into that account. Unreal. Needless to say they refused to refund the $150 bucks they basically stole. I don't know how they can do this to their customers in this economy. I told them they would lose me as a customer and their exact words were "thats your choice we cant close your accounts until your pending charges clear call back tommorrow. Basically they didn't care AT ALL. On top of this they claim they alert you to overdraft charges which never happened. They were content to charge me three times without ever alerting me. Other issues include a situation where i have a credit line with them that i paid off and tried to close to help my credit. They claim they cant find the account to close it. ??????? It shows up on my online banking I said to them. So they sent me to at least 4 departments supposedly in charge of credit lines and although they can see it on my online banking they cant close it. So they suggested I go to the branch where i opened the account which is across the country. What good is it to have branches all over the country if you have to go back to your original one to simply close a credit account which they lost?? Bottom line is they may be convenient but that comes at the cost of accountability. All the customer reps hide behind other departments and nonsense policies. Any slightly unusal problem you might have or mistakes on their part, will have you on hold all day talking to multiple departments that have nothing to do with each other, who wont help you unless their brainless reps have some preset solution for your particular problem.

I barely need atms anymore, any good bank that has check cards and online transfers is fine for me.

Bank of America signs up customers without providing the option to choose overdraft protection or not. They wait until a customer goes over and they charge $35 per transaction. I was just hit with $315 in charges because of 9 transactions occuring in 2 days. The first 3-4 transactions cost me $140 and then created a snowball effect making my account fall below 0 again, subsequently costing me another $175 in fees.

Anyone think BofA brings in a lot of revenue through this manipulation? To me this is criminal. They will not reverse the charges.

Bank of America should change their name to Bankrupt America. They are a horrid wretched bank, they charge anything they want to, even in a bad economy like this.. You think they would give more lee-way to their customers but no, they rather save themselves, of course with their 40 billion dollar bail-out, you think they be richer, obviously they must be poorer, and thats why their closing 10,000 branches, and laying off some workers, really makes you think...??

Anyways; my story is not a bad one. I truely never banked at this bank nor will I ever!! Although I work for a Law Firm and my clients are always coming to me complaining about Bank of America. I'm secretly investigating their tactics, while I am doing that, I am reading over millions of negative reviews about them. I have done 32 cases this year against them and, so it's been a busy year for me, not a good one at all. Most plaintiffs are winning because BofA so-called agents never show up, I wonder why....? Or when they do, they don't enough to counter-attack their reasons there-of policies and jurisdiction. Anyways, Bank of America should get a BBB rating of D, for being a horrible company. Yes their customer service is some-what good, but the way they are stealing money with their horrid tactics is even giving a rude awakening from the FCC. I wouldn't doubt seeing Bank of America's Ken Lewis standing before Congress again, with questions asking why the abusive declaration of changing company policy; and frauding the consumer.

If you haven't notice the new changes, than here is the policy. Please Read! They have raised their fees, and it depends on what account you have with them regardless if you have a Money Market Account, or Savings to a regular MyAccess Checking Account. If your in a bind and don't have very much funds, please do not use this Bank!! They will automatically withdraw - 35 dollars from your account regardless if you have a check pending, I would wait 5-7 business days for it to clear before you do anything else. If your in a bind, well it's up to you rather you want to incur these fees or not. If you need the money fast, I would go to a check cashing place because Bank of America does not gurantee that your check will clear in time. Which means if you are paid on Friday, don't expect your payroll check to clear till Tuesday or Wednesday. Some clients told me they couldn't get their funds till the next following Friday, which is odd, but once again, this is Bank of America! 2nd, Transfer balances within your account every month to stop their dumb system from charging you a maintenance fee. Which means keep a certain amount and have it set up to where you can transfer money between savings and checking automatically. And 3rd, don't bank at Bank of America if your not making good income. I have helped clients, but they are silly enough to go back to B of A, then they come back crying because something else happened to their account. Just end it. Period!! Bank of America is a "Fee" based bank now, it's not what it use to be and who knows when they will reverse their evil policies. But unless the FCC comes up with something to dispute their practices as deemed being illegal or wrong, Bank of America will continue this for a while and might just get away with it.

BOA is a great bank. I started my account a little over a year ago and have had no problems. Made 67 bucks just on the keep the change program after the first year which is nice for a college student who doesnt have the money to get a high intrest earning account. Free checking and savings account. I Overdrew my account a few months ago because i wasnt aware a automatic withdrawl had already gone through and they refunded my fee. The girls at the teller line are soooo nice and remembered my name after just visiting the bank twice! I dont like the greeter at the front of the lobby, kinda feels like im in a Maurices or something and i feel pressured to talk to them and they are annoying but other than that its great!

Bank of America is not a bank. It is a scam. They are thieves. They have a computer based website for money transfer. Please be aware to not use that site because by using this site they will be able to steal much more money. Never, ever do any dealing with Bank of America. I have been dealing with credit cards for twenty years and the fraud they did is a thousand times worse than anything I have had from other companies. Thieves, thieves, thieves! Do not believe anything this company advertises or says!!!

First off, I do not bank with this pathetic company. My best friend banks here, and she has had nothing but problems since she opened the account. I cannot recall all the issues she's had, but I do recall every time (countless times) that she has called me bitching about another way BoA has screwed her over. In knowing this, I refuse to ever deal with this bank.

I bank at Regions. EXCELLENT bank, and I don't get ridiculous fees every month, and when I did overdraft without realizing it, they refunded all of my overdrafts (as it was my first overdraft) and pretty much said, we can help you out since this is the first time, but if you overdraft again we really can't refund it. Which is completely understandable, if I overdraft, it's my fault! I NEVER get strange fees in my account that could cause me to overdraft without my knowing. I have banked at Commerce Bank also, and had bad experiences there. I would HIGHLY recommend Regions to anyone who asked.

OK, here is my situation: I had to cash my payroll check (couldn't deposit it, needed money immediately to make my car payment which is past due, so it had to be paid today.), and I couldn't cash it at my own bank because I did not have the funds in my account to equal the amount of the check. Okay, no big deal. My work uses BoA (extremely unfortunately, and I will be talking to my manager about it), so the teller at Regions suggested going to BoA to cash the check. With my hatred for BoA, I avoided doing this at all costs. I left my bank, went to Wal-Mart. Their computers were down, and I could not wait around for them to get them up and running again. So, already being frustrated, I said screw it, I'll just go to BoA, and get this over with. Well, how wrong of me to think that it could be over with so easily!

So I go to BoA. Now, REMEMBER: I am attempting to cash a check, which is coming from THEIR BANK. Should be the simplest thing, right? I get inside, the line is ridiculous, and it's finally my turn. I tell the lady, I just need to cash this check. She starts telling me, "well, there may be a $6 fee, I won't know until I process the check." I say, WHAT? 6 DOLLARS?! She says, "Yes, some businesses charge a $6 fee for (something, was too upset at this point to care what she was telling me) but, I won't know for sure until I process the check." This is some bullshit to me. How are you going to tell me "oh, you may have to pay $6 but we can't be for sure until the check has been processed." So, you have to take my check, deposit it right back into the bank it CAME FROM, and only after I agree to put the check into your hands, only THEN can you tell me whether there is a fee or not?! WHAT A FUCKING SCAM!!

She suggested going to Wal-Mart to cash the check, and I explained that their computers were down. Then she says, "Well did you try a different Wal-Mart?" ARE YOU STUPID?! The next nearest wal-mart is at LEAST 20 minutes away! I told her "I don't have the gas to go to another Wal Mart!!"

So then she starts trying to get me to open an account. "Yes, if you open an account with us, you can cash your checks at no charge" I cut her off, and said "I have a bank account. I am happy with them, I do NOT want to bank here." Then she started saying, "well if you open an account there would be no fees and no-" Again I cut her off, this bitch was pissing me off beyond belief. Does "NO" have a new meaning now? I say, plently loud so all the customers can hear me, "I have friends who bank with you, and have had NOTHING but bad experiences, and I will never bank here." So this bitch actually has the gall to say "Well just because your friend had bad experiences, you know she may bank differently than you, you might not have the same experience" AGAIN I had to cut this bitch off, "NOOO, I do NOT want to open an account!!!" Only THEN did she tell me, that indeed there WOULD be a $6 fee to cash my check. I said "No, I don't want to do it." Grabbed my check and ID from her as impolitely as possible, and stormed out. At this point I'm hoping all the customers behind me heard this nonsense-bullshit that this lady was telling me.

I finally went back to my bank (Regions), and explained to a different teller all that I'd been thru in the past 3 hours trying to cash my check. Upon telling her why I didn't cash it at BoA, she looked very confused as to why they would charge me $6, and said that didn't make sense, they have no reason to charge me for a check that is coming out of THEIR BANK. I agreed, it made no sense to me. She said, "Okay, one moment and I'll see what I can do for you." After a few minutes, she came back and explained that she could give me half of my check in cash, and had to deposit the other half. Which was absolutely perfect, that's exactly how much I needed for my car payment.

The lady that had helped me the first time I was there, came up and apologized that she couldn't help me earlier, and stated that the woman helping me out now had seniority over her, thus why lady #2 could help me out and she couldn't. I said, "Oh no, I completely understand, I just didn't think I'd have so many problems at the bank where the check came from!!!" Everyone was very friendly, just as they are every time I go into Regions.

Now, can ANYONE explain to me why BoA would charge 6 FUCKIN DOLLARS to cash a check that is coming from THEIR BANK?!?! I didn't understand before reading all these reviews. I now understand, they are MONEY HUNGRY BASTARDS who will use anything they can to get money out of EVERYONE who walks into their bank, and they especially take interest in the lower-income customers like myself. I noticed, the only positive review I've seen here is from an old man with a 30 year mortgage and 2 accounts. He probably has the funds and security to deal with this bullshit bank, a college student like myself does NOT have the time, money, or patience for this. No fucking WONDER people are so broke!!! Every Bank of America customer is getting screwed out of their own money! EVEN ME, A NON-CUSTOMER!! I'd like to ask all the homeless people, "Did you ever bank at Bank of America?" See how many of them say "Yeah, those mother fuckers are the reason I'm here!" Because at this point, I would honestly believe them.

Made my credit card payment on the 25th due the 26th. Used their online pay feature and the payment didn't clear till Monday 27th because they don't process anything over the weekend. Charged me $35 late fee, lost my business. Will use WAMU/Chase from now on.

You know, I use to love Bank of America, I use to be a fan, until suddenly, I was screwed over. After being approved for a credit card, and using it only a few times with $10,000 limit they reduced my limit. I always paid them on time and didn't think I would have any problems with using the card for emergencies. They decided to call me one day; telling me they were going to lower my limit to $5,000. I asked them why, and the rep on the phone named Sarah told me "Because I was not using it more often, and plus it was suppose to benifit me since the economy is bad"!??? That doesn't make sense, not only that they charged my checking and savings $8.95 service fee a month. They take longer to process my checks now. I swear last time I put a $1,200 payroll check in my account it took 7 days to process? Why that long? Mean while I was making some small purchases after three business days thinking mY check would of cleared... Wrong again. My purchases took me down to -7 dollars, plus -35 service fee thereafter.

I finally went to the B of A branch and talked with a representative named Chris, and he was not in the mood either I guess that day. I'm not sure if I was a target practice for his release of anger. But once I sat down with him at the desk to ask what was going on with my account, he started using a mean cocky tone of voice saying, this is what happens if you don't check your account daily, blah, blah, blah. I told him it use to be 3 business days a check processes now 7? He interrupted me saying Bank of America has recently changed it's policy and said now they prefer direct deposits rather than depositing checks. I told him that is ridiculous and that people need to access their money in order to sustain a lifestyle rather depositing checks through a teller or direct deposit. Even with my arguements, he would not refund the money. Chris lied saying every Bank of America client recieved a letter detailing the company changes and how it affects people. I told him well I never recieved nothing about that. He than said ok is that all, and by that time I asked to speak with his manager about his attitude. I did talk to his manager, I forgot his name, but the minute I started talking with the manager, Chris gets up, takes some of his stuff and walks out of BofA....... The manager than told me he was sorry what happened and would refund me the fee plus a one time service courtesy fee, but I just said, nevermind, close my account, I already heard enough bad news about this bank on TV anyways...

Turns out this Chris guy that helped me that day was being yelled at by previous customers about their over-draft fees and he got sick 'n tired of it. I talked to Chris who now works at Home Depot and loves his job there better I guess. He was smiling rather than frowing. Chris didn't tell me much about some of the other reasons why he left, but he said he was fed up with Bank of America's tactics and how they push their employees to sale money and try blame the customer for their overdraft fees, etx. Chris did tell me he was sorry about how he acted and it was just that it's been the same thing month after month, customers were just complaining and there was nothing he could do about it., I hope the government is actually reading this post because there is something very wrong with Bank of America and its CEO Ken Lewis. This bank is being more crooked, nastier, and evilier, I'm not sure why but something has to be done to the beast that has awaken to something catostropic as it is now...

If I can rate them ZERO stars I would!! I am very, extremely disappointed and upset with Bank of America! I deposited my hard earned money into my account and was declined at a coffee shop days later for a simple purchase! I deposited $900 and the bank said I was negative $400!! When I spoke to a "manager" they said my check was on hold for 2 weeks and they could do nothing about it! How can they do nothing about it? It benefits them not us! Not to mention all the fees on top of fees they charge for everything! I am closing my account with them as soon as my funds are back in my account! The manager I spoke with was Jennifer L. from Nevada, and I reside in Washington. I say she did not care at all about my problem.

I got the same problem with them. I put gas to my car and used my debit card. They didn't go thru the transaction immediately and hold it up for few days to see whether I will have overdraft in my account. If I do, they will charge me overdraft $35.00 each time. Also I don't understand why I have to pay extra one dollar for using my debit card to pay the gas. This is not just only one time they did to me. I set up an autopay to pay some bills and it never shows in the online banking which can cause me very easy to have overdraft. I complained this to their customer services and they were so patient and polite but to tell you to talk to the other department which they can't do anything to me. I feel this bank is a robbery. I'm now going to shop for another bank.

I had a Bank of America account that I had closed in 2003. The Problem that I had with them is really ridiculous, they would "hold" checks for way too long, and then charge me an overdraft fee when I go to use MY MONEY a couple days later. Money would often go missig in my account and then reappear days later which would again cause overdraft fees. Each fee is $35 dollars and could make somebody like me a homeless person on the street really quickly. For those of you that say BofA is a great bank to have an account with apparently have enough money in the account to not know when there being screwed. A friend of mine is on the phone with them while I am typing this because she is going through the same problems. It's okay... they'll be out of business soon... No threat intended wouldn't want them taking me to court.

I used to love bank of america. their customer service is wonderful.

But they put checks & charges thru the largest amount first, so your account gets hit with multiple HUGE over draft fees of $35

and now they are charging you $35 if it's overdrawn for more than 5 days. Monday i saw my dribbly tiny little but much loved paycheck hit my account. I think it might've been pending but I put thru a bill payment online and grabbed $50 to put in savings.

they charged me $35 for each transaction.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! I plan on closing all but 1 savings account, and keeping my credit card only until I get back on my feet and can get another credit card and I will never do business with these people again.

i have had accounts with them for 5+ years.

Bank Of America is so full of it! They refused to accept my Fraud Case since I didn't report my card missing until they sent me a email 2days later. They send they"suspected irregular usage", so I called on Monday to tell them about their email and that I just realized I left my Visa with my driver's license in a resaturant. Now they refuse to accept the FRAUD CLAIM. I am now fighting them thru the FTC and the Comptroller of Currency since July 08.

July 15, 2009: UPDATE. I just rec'd an letter from Bank Of America advising me to contact then in the Victims Assistance unit to help resolve this fraud activity that is still showing as a "CHRAGE-OFF" on my credit bureaus! Guess why, the BOA was notified that the credit bureaus allowed me to place a consumer statement and each bureau shows that the bureaus consider the case as FRAUD under the Credit Act. Now tell me what they plan to do to help me out.

From first to worst. From 1996 to 2008 I believed BofA was the best. Then they fell apart & I left 05/08 and am now happy with U.S. Bank. For the record my BofA complaints includes several deductions from my accounts that belonged to other customers, improper handling of credit card transactions & service chaarges that took lots of energy to have removed. Just to see if things had changed over the past year, I revisited my local BofA branch this month. Saw 2 friendly faces, the rest strangers. I was told that BofA no longer offers ANY of the VIP services I enjoyed for 2 decades. Would not surprise me if BofA ends up following the same path as General Motors.

Apparently I'm a horrible banker as well. When the teller says "You have $219 in your account" The -BEST- that I can assume is that I have $0. The -WORST- that I can assume is that I have $219. Before learning this, I thought that "You have $219 in your account" meant that I have $219. So I go do my business. I buy some groceries, gas for the car, some goodies from Spencer's and so on.... Every one of my purchases came back to me with an Overdraft notice attached to it. I was expecting an Automatic Withdraw to occur the day after. So 1 Overdraft is what I was expecting. Not 6. They dated in their computers somehow to have the Automatic Withdraw occur before my smaller transactions. They found it in their kind heart to refund $51 back to me, oh boy was I bouncing with happiness.

Plus, if you deposit a check, a payroll check, it's going to take 7 days before you can even touch it. Walmart isn't even a bank and they can have cash in my hand in less then 5 minutes. How is it that a department store can get me my hard earned money faster then a bank? Right, because they want me to spend it.... No. They're not blinded by greed or horrible technology. The bank has to wait for it to process?! It's some of the easiest math learned by 3rd graders. Addition and Subtraction. Put money in the account - add. Take money from the account - subtract.

You'd think the purpose of a bank is to hold your money, well, I don't think that's what this bank's purpose is. They want to hold it, look at it, play with it, get their greedy paws all over it, and find a way to take it from you.

I'm sure that someone who backs this horrid bank is going to get the clever idea of "You claim the banks are so bad at keeping track of your money, but your the one that got the overdraft fees." Then maybe you can answer me why they adjust the withdraw dates to drain the account down as quick as possible leaving us with a ridiculous number of overdrafts? Exactly, they're greedy.

Go ahead Bank Backers, those that think this bank is awesome. Explain it.

If I could give it no stars, I would.

We pulled all of our accounts after the bank overdrafted us 13 times in one month. The total in overdraft fees exceeded the total we overdrafted by $375. They did this by paying the largest debit first over one weekend time period when our automatic deposit was one day late. The total we overdrafted, you may ask? (Please!)

$85! Had we not had $30 per overdraft taken out, we would have overdrafted one item. We pulled our savings, checking, credit card and even refinance our house to get away from this bank.

You can find a better bank.

Banks look to make money as a priority. Unfortunately, that means the customer gets the wrong end of the deal. Instead of working with the customer to come to terms of agreement, they simply deny all claims to charge their ridiculous fees. I have paid them hundreds in overdraft fees and I am not a happy customer. This means that when I sell my house in Honduras, worth about $40K, I will close my account with them. Will it hurt them that bad? No, but it will make me feel good to make a statement: You turned your back on me when I had no money charging me ridiculous fees, now I have money and I turn my back on you BOA!

This bank is crap!! When I was is college about 2 years ago I got a bank of America credit card and checking account. Well after banking with them for a year I got into a bad car accident and hadto move in with the parentals cause I couldn't work due to a back injury. Because of that I wasn't able to pay my credit card. So after I got my settlement from my personal injury I call the customer service people and ask for them to pay off my account which was around 2400 dollars. So I go ahead and cancel my checking as well because I didn't like how they're NSF fees rules worked(another story in itself). So I go on with life and a YEAR later get a call from a debt collector stating I owed almost 800 dollars on a bank of America acount. I was fuming!!!! So I call them and come to find out they stated that I owed 2824 and that I only paid 2425....what!!!!! When I initiallly called I clearly stated I wanted to PAY THE ACCOUNT IN FULL. So the lady tells me she's gonna file whatever it's called and that they'll most likely take what I paid as the account being paid in full. So I get a letter a couple weeks later stating that after they reviewed the info that I owed the difference but didn't tell me anything on what happened or why. So I call and the lady was rude in the first place and I could not get anything out of her on why and she stated that the account was closed so I couldn't talk to anybody else. Needless to say it was my fault I shouldve been smart and asked for a letter stating the account was paid in full and called back. Since I didn't receive anymore statements saying I owed something I didn't worry about it. Always get a letter stating that you paid I full!! So bank of America robbed me of 424 dollars. So don't bank or have a credit card with them they are money hungry, greedy, and they're customer service reps are rude as ever.

At the beginning of college, I'll admit I was irresponsible when it came to my finances. But 700 dollars later in overdraft fees, I've learned my lesson well. It's been a year since I last went negative in my account. I log into my account and find that I'm overdrawn nearly 200 dollars. I call the bank to ask why. Apparently there's been a policy since march 2008 that distinguishes an available and a current balance yet it's july of '09 and this is the first time I encounter this problem. Long story short, these greedy jerks are charging me overdraft fees when the money that I use IS IN my account. I in no way overspent more than I had but for that reason I'm paying for 7 x 35.00. The most ridiculous and unnecessary problem ever. Best advice, don't get this bank. If you have to because you realize that all banks suck overall, then don't invest so much effort into it, JUST USE CASH!! Bank of America sucks donkeyballs with salsa. As i have banked all over the world and experienced both good and bad banks i can truly and honestly say that Bank of America is the worst bank i have ever had the displeasure of using! Fee's on top of fee's is the worst thing. They even take over draft fee's out if their computer thinks your account might get over drawn. Then there is fee's for putting money into my account from an overseas account. So i get slugged for withdrawing and depositing. It seems you just cant please them! Bank of America is a scam. Just because they need had to get bailed out from the Government they think they can try to scam their customers for the money they've lose. I am a freelancer who gets paid with checks that I cannot have direct deposited. Therefore, I go to their "convenient" ATM deposit machines and put my money in my account. They then decide 5 days later to put a HOLD on the check. So wait, you're telling me that a check in 2009 can't clear after 5 days and it HAS to be put on hold? So in turn, my bills that needed to be paid which are linked to my account, overdraws the account. Now I get to talk to your lovely customer service people, who I try to be nice to because it's not their fault, but it's so hard. There is no reason why my checks are getting held, they've never done it before. I have never had a problem in the years that I have had this account but they have ruined my credit and I am closing the account as soon as they decide to let me have my hard earned money.

If I could give you ZERO stars, I would.

Wow, I thought that I was the only to hate this bank. I've recently found myself in financial distress due to employment problems so my funds are really low. Last month I overdrew my account for several small purchases. While the items were still pending, I went to the bank and deposited cash (not check) to my account to cover the transactions. Despite my cash deposit, the bank still charged me $35 for each transaction which resulted in $140+ in fees (they charge per transaction regardless of the amount). I contact customer support to address this issue receiving less than adequate information. To make a long story short, I incurred more than $200 worth of fees, despite having cash money deposited into my account before the pending transactions were completed. Initially they gave me a break on some fees because I was misinformed by there staff, but I still paid $140+ in fees. Now as of today, the bank charge me a fee that overdrew my account with out me knowing. Since I was unaware of the transaction, I purchased a freakin coffee on my debit card and purchased a $0.99 song on itunes, which resulted in incurring more overdraft fees. They told me that the fees are rightfully applied despite there balloon fee which overdrew my account in the first place. I hate this bank so much!!!
