Wells Fargo 1

I wish I would have looked at these ratings BEFORE I banked with Wells Fargo for the last year and a half and honestly, I'm disappointed with myself for staying with them for so long!
I opened an account with Wells Fargo when I lived in Baraboo WI and it is probably the reason I stayed with them for as long as I did. They are the kindest people in the world and non of them should be working for this company!! If I was about to over draft.. someone from the Baraboo branch would call and let me know that I need to deposit some cash!:) They are just so nice!
I moved to Madison in Aug. 07 and any branch I have been to here, the people are dumber then a box of rocks!
Through the time that I have been a Wells Fargo member, I have probably accumulated $1,000 in over draft fees. Most of these, in some way, were my fault. However, last month I deposited my check at 1:30 on a Tuesday and due to the fact that it was not applied to my account until Thursday evening, I received 3 over draft fees, which if you bank with Wells Fargo, I'm sure you know is $105.00!! I tried to talk to corporate about this and they were of no help trying to make it sound like I must have been mistaken on when my check was deposited.
A couple weeks later I received more late fees due to the fact that a check was deposited dated for a week prior to the current date. I called corporate IRRATE with the fact that a POST DATED check was cashed and they told me that the date written on the check is JUST written for my records! WHAT????!!! All this time I thought a check was not supposed to be cashed until the date it said on the check.. it only made sense to me!
So... I called the Baraboo branch where the people are normal and of course, the woman told me, Wells Fargo is NOT supposed to cash checks before the date they are written for, but once they are sent through, there is little I can do! Great!
A couple weeks ago, I took my paycheck to the bank to deposit it, signed the back and got my receipt and left. I got to work the next day and my boss asked me if he had given me the wrong check by mistake.
My first reaction was, "I dont know.. I just looked at the amount and my bank cashed it!" His first response was, "well your bank is stupid!"
Sure enough.. the check was in my co-workers name and they had deposited it into my account basically just because I signed the back!!!! Ha! WOW!!
A couple days ago, I went to the bank to deposit some money, to yet again, bring my account to 0 since I had gotten those late fees from my check not being deposited before they applied the over draft charges. At this time, I had already opened an account with UW Credit Union- who are non profit and dont get their jollies from taking my hard earned money from over draft/late fees!
Anyways, I only wanted to deposit enough to 0 out the balance and get the rest back to deposit it in my GOOD bank account at UW Credit Union. The woman first put me through the run around getting my drivers license and another credit card source since I was getting cash back. Really? After depositing someone elses check into my account AT THIS BRANCH?! What a joke!
After getting my license and credit card, she came back to tell me that because my account had previously been in a negative she could only deposit until the check clears! Ah yes, something to top it all off after I am just trying to close this account with this ridiculous bank!!
I withdrew the remaining balance and called today to cancel. I made the mistake of calling corporate of course where the woman, whom I could barely understand, asked me for my password.
I replied, "Im not sure what password you would like. My debit pin, or my on line password.. or which one?" She replied with, "I am not going to give you any hints!"
I was kind of in aww! How about, social security number, address, account number, pin number, mothers maiden name??? Dont tell me, "this password was set up when you opened the account over a year and a half ago" and expect me to remember!!
So I guessed at a couple that I thought it maybe could have been and she snapped at me, "NO!"
Without even a goodbye, I hung up the phone and immediately called the Baraboo branch for assistance. Sure enough, as always, the guy that I talked to was so much help. He asked why I decided to close and I told him how I had just gotten off the phone with the corporate and his first response was, "Yeah.. dont call them!"
I told him how they had deposited someone elses check and put me through the run around trying to get a withdrawl and he just laughed and said he was sorry!
After he successfully closed my account in minutes, he said, "If ever you decide to come back to us, come to me and we'll take care of you!" It was almost enough to make me stay if Wells Fargo was only based out of Baraboo and I didnt have the corporate ***holes to deal with who steal my money any chance they can!
Looking forward to good things with UW Credit Union and I look forward to

I have been banking with WF for many years. I have had a home mortgatge with them and I maintain a substantial balance in my accounts. A couple of days ago, I received notification in my e-mail that my checking account was overdrawn, which I knew I had not done as I keep my account padded to avoid that. When I checked online I found a withdrawl of $3000 in the form of a check. I looked at the check image and it shows a check that I had written on top of another persons check. It appears that the checks got stuck together during processing and the way they were aligned, my check covered the account number on the other check, so the machine debited the total from my account. Having talked to customer service repeatedly, they can see that the money should not have come out of my account, but they will not return it. They say there policy is rigid and that they will start an investigation. They say that I can expect a phone call in 5 days regarding the start of the investigation, and that hopefully my money will be returned pending the outcome of the investigation. SO, I am out $3000 for a truly lame and obvious mistake, and the bank apparently feels no obligation to resolve it in a timely manner. I am absolutely appalled at this customer service (or lack there of). I am lucky that I have the means to pay my bills in the absence of this money, but this mistake could easily leave the average person without the ability to get their basic needs met. If you work for WF I would love to hear a justification of this truly flawed policy. There has been absolutely no effort by WF to accomodate my needs.

Wells Fargo hits you with unexpected fees every time you turn around. If you're careful to avoid fees, they will restructure their banking to force you to pay fees. WF is the WORST bank I have ever used!

Wells Fargo is the worst bank I have ever had to deal with. They purchased my home Mortgage in September of 2006 from Washington Mutal, another F***ed up bank. They never obtain the information on a person in regards to their payment history etc...They they come along stating that you owe a large amount of money from the time that they bought the mortgage which was total BS. They do not work with you on a restructure plan of your loan in order to get the payment down or add onto the end of the loan which can bring you up-to-date, if that is the case. Everytime you call their customer service office you always get a different person in another state and have to start your story of information over again. and the cycle begins again. They do not send a payment book so you have to keep every receipt you make. They forclosed on your House w/o telling me. Last month I have this guy come to my house stating that the house was forclosed on in November after I just paid them $10,000 in April because that is what they said I owed since September of 2006 but they have no record of that. Now they own my house, I called them asking them what the heck is going on and they had the nerve to ask if if I was going to make a payment today in the amount of $17,000. It only shows that they do not know what they are doing, their system of banking procedures is un-excusable in whole they should not be in the mortgage or banking business. Now they have sent me a letter stating that THEY have purchased house insurance for me and that I have to pay for it, but they own the house according to them. I do not want them to come along as say that I have 2 weeks to vacate so I am moving. All I can say if that when I get another mortgage I will not be dealing with them or any bank that they have taken over. IF I can I will make sure that everyone knows what a lousy bank they are, and I will let the Head of the Corporation know also. So be wise on who you lend with...Scott

They are dishonest people. Their banking services suck. Moreover,I had two credit cards from Wells Fargo Financial. Last summer, they communicated to me that they planned on increasing the APR, because they had inquired and found that my credit score had decreased. On the contrary, my credit score had increased and they had not made any inquiry about this. As a consequence, I closed the accounts and paid off the credit cards.

My mother passed away and when I went in the branch to settle any debts and notify them of her passing they told me I had no authority over her account, even with my name on the account and a copy of the will naming me the Executrix.  Days later I got a collection notice for the very debts I made an effort to pay off.  Thanks for your compassion and understanding Wells Fargo!

I have had an account with WF for years, my 3 kids all have accounts there also. I checked my bank balance one morning and had plenty in the positive, so I went ahead and paid my bills. This would have left me a $300 balance until pay day in 4 days. I checked the account the day before pay day and was shocked to see a NEG $387 on my account! I called WF and asked what happened, they told me that they had not posted all the debits to my account for 3 days due to a computer back up process they were doing. So low and behold, they started whamming me with over draft fees. I asked for a copy of all the charges applied to my account, because the website did not reflect anything but "Non-sufficient fund fees" over and over again.
They would not provide me with a print out.

I went to the office in downtown Denver and demanded a print out and was told that their systems only reflected what I personally could see if I logged in myself. So they couldn't help me. I requested a copy from their databases, was told it would take a week to recieve it. It never came! Went back, found out now my negative fees were up over $600, because now the charge a fee for every day you're over drawn!
It has been over a month, my balance is over $900 negative owed, they withdrew all monies out of my children's accounts and applied it to the balance on mine and STILL WILL NOT PROVIDE documentation on how they charged me fees.

Avoid this bank at all costs. They have gotten very nasty in customer service over the last 5 yrs, they don't care about their customers, and will nickle and dime you with fees daily, and given 1/2 a chance they will charge you fees and never explain why or how.

Smells far go stank......worst financial insitution in america.

I fell behind on my business line of credit after we lost our farm because of a family member's sudden illness. They converted it to a business term loan after i refused to pay the 21.25% interest rate that started out at 9%. After gas prices increased by 200%, and the greedy mortgage industry clowns screwed everything up, we fell behind again and "smells far go stank" used it's "right to offset" and withdrew every dime we had in our checking account ($4413.00) on a Friday afternoon to pay the past due amount of $2479.91. They said because we had such a terrible pay history, and statistics showed that people in our situation never paid up, they were justified in taking $1933.00 more than was due on the term loan. Then they threatened to make it worse and turn it over to their attorney and said "it will cost you $30,000 before we are through with you if you don't pay another $500.00 in the next 45 days and $500 every month after that. I have had the loan for almost four years and if we fell behind, we always caught it up and paid the past due amounts and the ridiculous late fees without complaint. They said we had proven to be untrustworthy so they were justified in their theft from our personal checking account of more than the amount due on the loan.

Special note to "bigsucksfan" posted 7/14/08. You appear to be just the kind of greedy, self absorbed, all about me, and to heck with the rest of you type that should rise to the top of the "smells far go stank" corporate ladder. Good luck to you.

I contacted Wells Fargo about getting my auto loan refinianced in hopes of getting a lower interest rates and lower monthly payments. Well, it took them two weeks to reply to my application. After one phone call and an hour of me waiting for a call back, I was given the worst offer possible.

They offered to save me 100 dollars on my monthly payments which sounds alright. But when I asked for all the details, that's when I just luaghed at him. It went from 42 months left to 72, and from 8 percent interest to 15 percent interest. Obviously they much have thought I am a complete idiot. I honestly feel bad for anybody that does business with them.

Decided to move my checking and savings to Wells Fargo as they offered a $50 incentive. Had to move money back and forth between checking and savings to get the advertised free checking. Never received the promised $50 in three months but did get charged fees trying to learn how to get the free services that they promised... Did get some interest and a clerk made a big deal out of the 8 penny's I earned in interest. Also got lots of junkmail that looked like bank statements on the outside, so you had to open the crap or risk missing the actual bank statements. Closed the account and moved back to my old bank after four months and got a wire transfer fee and an account closure fee...AVOID WELLS FARGO as they are a soulless faceless company that cheats and lies.....

Their customer service department is one of the worst I have ever worked with. I had to use them for a "12 months same as cash" furniture purchase. They never posted my payments on time - even though they were automatic payments. When the 11th month came up I wanted to pay them off so I would not owe the accrued interest. The contract did say that if you did not pay it off in the 12 month period, the interest would be charged back to the date of the purchase. They had the amount owed incorrect. They did everything they could to delay my payment so I would go over the date due and pay them the $500+ in interest. I would call them to discuss the issue and they would tell me to put it in writing. They never received my letters so I started faxing them and getting a receipt. During that last period of time, I sent two faxes which were both ignored. They would not call me or answer my letter via fax. After discussing my issues with others, I find that they have a reputation for doing this so they can charge the back interest. I was lucky that I did not have to pay it because I started working on it a month early. When I requested to have my complaint escalated I was told that it is their policy that they do not do that. She just kept repeating that line. I thought I was talking to a robot!

They will get you on fees however they can. I posted my payment for the 8th. They charged it on the 7th, last months cycle, and then charged me for a late fee. I showed them there were two payment on the last month and that the website even showed my choice as the 8th. They refused to change the late fee. This was on my LAST PAYMENT! Stay away!

I hate to say this, but I've finally given up on Wells Fargo. I've never had to leave a financial institution before, but I am forced to do it now - and for the worst reason: incompetence. Wells Fargo completley lost my deposit two separate times. Once for over $600. It was pending for a day, and then it disappeared completely. Fortunately, I had the receipt crumpled up in my car. Then a few months later, they lost another deposit for around $1000 right before I left for vacation. I had to deal with it while away on vacation. They finally put the money back approximatley 5 days later. I knew I needed to leave after that, because I couldn't trust my financial institution to keep track of my deposits - the simplest of functions. Admittedly, I've been reluctanct to pull up stakes and start over with someone else, partially for fear that this problem might be systemic industry-wise. Third time's a charm - they just reduced a deposit I made by $100. Another bank error to my detriment. I've had to constantly monitor my account to make sure THEY don't make mistakes on my account causing me problems with possible overdrafts amongst other things. This is a sad state of affairs with any kind of financial institution. It's so perplexing to me that a bank, of all places, would be so incompetent, irresponsible and seemingly unconcerned about the whole thing. No one is fixing the problem nor is able to tell me why this is happening. Hopefully this kind of issue is particular to just WF.

I have banked with Wells Fargo for both business and personal accounts for more than 15 years, ever since they took over my accounts with First Interstate Bank. The customer service has greatly deteriorated over the years. There was a time you never had to ask for a supervisor because the tellers knew what they were doing. Then as tellers became less trained, it grew increasingly necessary to ask for a supervisor to resolve routine issues they didn't know how to handle. Now, even asking for a supervisor to address account problems results in dealing with someone who is just blindly following a set of corporate procedures with little or no individual thought behind it. On several occasions they have mishandled deposits, change of addresses and other normal banking requests. When problems arise, they appear to be taught to defend the bank's policy at all costs without knowing if it is good policy. In the past few years, I've never encountered anyone on the phone who would admit another employee's mistake, even upon correcting it. If an item doesn't show on the computer screen that appeared, they assume it cannot exist even before checking for it elsewhere. Recently, I changed the addresses on two accounts after a move, yet one of my debit cards was being rejected due to an unmatching zip code. When I reported this problem they suggested I had failed to update one account. I explained I updated the info with one written request identifying both accounts. Both street addresses had been changed, while obviously an employee failed to update the other zip code. To make this change, they wanted to go through all their security questions again, which I already gave at the start of the conversation, to verify I was the account owner. It's clear to me Wells Fargo corporate sees customer relations as an adversarial one. Employees are taught 1) money is power, 2) the bank is in the business of money, and 3) customers are the means of getting money. If they have your money or you owe them money, employees are taught to believe they are in control. If they only want your money, it's just business as usual, and they're as friendly as can be. Needless to say, I'm leaving Wells Fargo for good to deal with people and and institution I can trust at all times.

I have been a customer of Wells Fargo for about 5 years with absolutely NO troubles. Then earlier this month they LOST a deposit I had made! That was unacceptable but they were very nice about it and posted the money to my account while they located the error on their part. It was straightened out and I decided not to close my account. Then NINE days later it happened AGAIN! What are the odds! Luckily I had saved the deposit receipts as proof and they had record of it at the branch. They have a serious problem with processing deposits once it is sent to the processing center. I told them I cannot bank with someone I don't trust and they've proven to me that they cannot handle simple deposits or my money. They didn't seem to care that I will be closing my account. The lady even talked to me about which bank I'd be moving to.

I seriously voted one star too many. Wells Fargo is worse than terrible. Last week they were supposed to give me a mortgage for a house for which we were easily pre-approved. Perfect credit, high income, we even showed much more than necessary to purchase the property in our bank statement. We were declined. They wanted an obnoxious and invasive audit of our bank account, paper trails for every deposit ever made, and half a dozen signed letters of explanation for funds deposited into my bank account. After jumping through all their outrageous hoops, wasting hours/weeks tending to their requests, we were told the information we provided was insufficient and we ended up losing the chance to buy the property which was valued at several tens of thousands over the amount we were going to buy for. Thanks for nothing Wells Fargo. Thanks for giving me the worst banking experience of my life.

Terrible.... I checked my account before going shopping. It said $250 (I am a broke college student). I went shopping. I spent $170 at the first store. I called WF and asked exactly how much I had left. He said after the $170 I just spent(which i was surprised it was already posted as a pending transaction), I had $80 left. So I went and spent almost $80 in two different stores. Everything seemed fine until two days later. I went on WF.com to check my account to find that my account was at around -$355. So I called to see how this could have happened. They told me that all of my pending transactions had not gone through when the respresentative told me I still had money in my account. It was a Tuesday at 7:30 pm when I talked to him and was shopping! They told me that since it was a weekend and a monday holiday that the transactions would not have gone through until either the morning or evening of the next business day. I then explained how I went shopping on Tuesday at 7:30 pm which would mean that the money should have shown up either way! Whether they had gone through in the a.m. or p.m. of the next business day. They then changed the story and told me that they did not go through until Wed. of that week. But then I asked them how the guy could see the pending transaction I just did 2 minutes ago, but could not see the pending transactions I did 4 days prior. They changed the subject and would not answer the question directly. They kept telling me that I should keep better track of my banking by writing down all transactions. I then asked why the guy who signed me up on my WF account told me that pocket banking books were a thing of the past and told me everything could be done online at WF. Again they changed the subject and avoided the question. They told me 90% of the time the online system works, but 10% of the time it does not, so it would be smart to keep written records yourself. I then asked why I had been charged $2.00 for a few phone calls to their customer service the past month. I asked if I could have them refunded since obviously calling them gives no help what-so-ever. They said I could not have those refunded.

Bottom line was three different people including 2 managers/supervisors told me that it was not a bankers error because if I had kept better records of my finances, it would not have happened. I told them that if they had trained their employees better to read a computer screen correctly for the $2.00 I am apparently paying them every time I call, then this also would not have happened. Each person went in circles with me and kept lecturing me on keeping records myself. They kept trying to shift the focus from WF and their employees and poor customer service, to me, and place the blame solely on me. All I asked was for the three $35 ODF's to be refunded and they said no. I asked why they have done it for my gf a few times. Then I said something very dumb, but in the heat of the conversation. I asked them if it was because she was half Mexican. The woman was Mexican so this made her very offended. It was a ridiculous comment to make, but I was upset and felt helpless, so it was a little jab I took at her.

I will say that it seems they cator to the Mexican's a little more there. From personal experience, I do know that Mexicans have a ton of cultural pride, and do seem to care for one another more than any other race. I probably should not even make this an issue, but I feel like I want to speak on it. It is something I felt was going on last night in my conversations with them. I then rudely asked if I could speak with a white woman. They gave me a white woman(supervisor), and she eventually refunded me 2 of the ODF's. She was very nice. This is just an observation I felt. Usually it is the white people (like myself) who do the discrimination; but I feel this time, it was against me!

bottom line:
it feels like crap to be taken advantage of; especially financially, and wells fargo does a great job of this. They also do a great job of putting uneducated ass holes on the phone to "resolve" their customers issues. They don't even "act" like they care. At least hire some people who can fake it.

On a possitive, the woman who I eventually spoke with and refunded 2 of my ODF's was very nice and represents a bright light in this horrible company....

I locked in a loan with Wells Fargo 9 months prior to my new home completion. Wells Fargo had know about my closing date for 6 of those months. My loan seemed to be going fine until the day I was supposed to sign documents. I showed up to the title office and there were no documents to sign. It has been 3 days since my original close date passed. I still have no loan documents and a moving van full with no place to go.
Wells Fargo has cost me thousands in additional money and time. They have no customer service and no regard for deadlines. I guess I will be sleeping in a hotel tonight and you can bet Wells Fargo doesn't care.
NEVER do business with these people. They don't care. I suggest if you have business with them to move it. It won't take long for Wells Fargo to screw you over!

To start I made a deposit at an atm for 1280 cash well there was en error at the atm so it only gave me 0.01 then said it may take two business days to deposit full amount, well two days later they ony add 199.99 to my account, well I have two bill being taken out on the 19th and that will overithdraw my account, so then I told them that they need to pay those bill and I am not paying the overdraft fee considering it is not my screw up, they told me I need to put claims in that could take 10 days and that I would have to pay the overdraft fee, so as of today I still don't have the money and I am extremly disatisfied with there service, once my account is credited I am closing it!!

Too make the story short, they gave a 10% of my balance yearly fee that reqiured my signature for some tripple point system. Never signed anything for a point system. Called customer service, they were no help. Drove to the bank talked to one of their aphebetically appointed accountants, was told it automatically establishes when your balance is over $15,000. Called him a sneakly little bastard and demanded that this be taken off my account and that my money be re-credited. He tells me to speak to the bank manager, I do so. He agrees to credit $740 of the $1,500 fee. I call my attorney and have him come down, we go over what the bank had told me and how the signature was never requested. I file an EIOD against the bank. Three months later I finally get a check for my remaining balance. I had switched bank the day this whole mess started, still had to pay a $5 fee to cash the check the sent me.

They're racist and rude. The banker recommended that we go back to our home branch to resolve an over draft issue. I would expect the same treatment everywhere I go and instead, this racist banker refused to help us resolve this issue based on our ethnicity. I have never felt so discriminated against! Every single person that works for Wells Fargo is unsympathetic and are mindless, greedy, corporate drones that walk the beat of the corporate world that is slowing going down the drain. They steal from us every chance they can get. I'm keeping my money somewhere else safe from these greedy racists fascists!

Just in my initial dealings with them, I must say this bank has no idea of customer service. The people at the top of the local branch constantly give out information and then contradict each other. They keep telling me that they are a AAA bank, but I see no evidence of AAA service. I have had a lucky escape now that I have confirmed what I suspected from these stories.

I had a very very bad experience with Wells Fargo after having had an account with them for the past 15 years.
I stood up for them for them when people I knew or didn't know would tell me their horror stories of how they felt so betrayed by WF. I feel so stupid now and have stopped banking with them immediately.
For the past 2 months they have been charging me fees I have never seen before and they 'denied' a check I had depostited into my account by ATM. I have always used the ATM with no problem. It was a valid check and they had no reason. Yesterday my account was in good standing, today it's in the red and they will not help me other than transferring me to their Overdraft Department. When I asked the csr to talk to someone else they would not let me talk to a supervisor. When I was transferred to the Overdraft Department I kept getting an echo on my phone. When I asked if I was on a speaker phone they told me, "no, you are not on an 'echo' phone"..strange she used the word 'echo', then it stopped. I asked the csr what was changing, why was WF not treating me the way they have for the last 15 years and she swore that nothing was different. I disagree, I see now that some people seem to get picked out, picked on and drug through the dirt. I feel so badly for not listening whole heartedly to the people that vented on me about this bank in the past. I have never banked with another bank to be able to compare it to another, so others might be just as bad. I don't intend to find out right away. I really do hope, no matter who banks where, that you don't find yourselves in the place I am now. Being in the red feels terrible and not having a good reason pointed out to you from a representative makes it worse.
Happy banking and I wish nothing but prosperity for all of you.
(I didn't even want to give them the 1 star, but see I have to give them something /finger)

Do Not Use WellsTrade. Instead of giving you free trades, they switch you to the full brokerage account that charges outrageous commissions==$800 for 500 shares of a NYSE stock, total transaction was less than 10,000. The broker aka financial consultant can't remember which story he told to whom and Wells refuses to refund my commission even though I've banked with them for over 25 years. I'm withdrawing everything as soon as I can.

Terrible Bank.  Impersonal bank that is focused in draining people's account through fees.  They recently withdrew about $800.00 from my account because my step son's account was overdrawn and because my wife was in both my account and my step son's account.  This despite the fact that I had absolutely no access or control over my step son's account who is an adult and is responsible for his own finances.  I never authorized this kind of linking to another person's account.  I only authorized my wife to have access to my account.

This bank is absolutely terrible.

I find it really comical that so many people are complaining about over draft fees. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY IN YOUR ACCOUNT DON'T WRITE CHECKS! Simple. You will never have a problem if you live by that philosophy. I've been with WF for 8 years and have never had an OD fee, or any other problems with fees. The bank usually isn't the one who screws up, it's usually you. Stop blaming everyone else for your personal problems.

All you people who are bitching about overdraft fees are just bunch of uneducated, irresponsible, broke crybabies. Every bank works the same way, you overdraft your account you get charged OD fees, here is an idea don't spend more then what you have in your account. It is a business they are in it to make money!!!! I have been with Wells Fargo since I was 18 and never had any problems, so I am giving them my auto loan and student loan. When I get my 1st mortgage I am giving them that too.

I hate banks. Always have, and always will.

But Wells Fargo just took the cake.

I haven't been with them long, say a year or so... but I just experience the worst customer service in my life. I have never bounced a check with them, and have direct deposit set up with my work. In all aspects, I've been a pretty good and low maintenance customer.

Until I deposited a money order written out to my girlfriend.

My girlfriend received a $600 money order for a family member for her birthday. She banks with Columbia Bank and instead of driving across town to her bank, I deposited her money order into my account since we were already at that ATM.

The money posted to my account the next day (Saturday), and I took my girlfriend shopping. In all, we made 13 purchases in the amount of about $620 (I had other money in the bank as well).

On Wednesday I got flooded with emails from my bank about NSF fees getting charged. So, I logged onto my Online Banking to find that I was over $800 negative in my account!!! I had 13 NSF fees of $35 each ($455 total) and there was a deduction of $600!! I immediately called the branch manager and spoke to him. Apparently, Wells Fargo doesn't allow third party checks to be deposited. Even though I showed that it had cleared into my account, they went back in a few days later and took it out causing EVERY PURCHASE that I made to bounce and charging a $35 fee for each one. The branch manager was kind enough to credit me back 2 of the fees, but that doesn't help the $385 I am still out.

Here's the kicker... the money order? Still haven't received it. It's been going on two weeks now and they said that the department that mails them out is unable to be contacted and they have no idea when it'll reach me.

So, in short... they have taken $600 of my girlfriends money with no way to track it and charged me $385 for it. In total I am out $985 due to their policy regarding third-party checks.

I called their customer service today, and spoke with a nice young lady named Erica. She said that her nor her supervisor were able to credit back any more of the fees that were assessed on the account. I was polite, friendly, and not threatening in any manner. I explained to her that from a customer service point of view, this was very bad service. I told her that if Wells Fargo were going to have a policy that was out of the norm for banks, then they should give some kind of fair warning. I do almost all of my banking online, and mentioned to her that had someone called me... or possibly sent me an email when they returned the money order, I wouldn't have been in such a bad spot. Rather than just taking the money out of my account, some kind of communication would have really helped me out.

All in all... I'll be searching for a new bank. It's unfortunate since I really like the people at my local branch, but I feel that I've been taken advantage of... and I don't stand for that.

Under no circumstances would I do business with Wells Fargo again.  Even if they were the last bank on earth, I would stuff my money in a hole in the floor before I'd let them touch it.  I'm not a complainer by nature and certainly not someone who will run my mouth off trashing companies without good reason, but the level at which Wells Fargo repeatedly proved to me that my business was not important to them is inexcusable.  Their refusal to even discuss a concern over several overdraft charges that were caused by them putting a ridiculously long hold on a cashier's check I deposited was the last straw.  I have done business with other banks for many years without any of the problems I had experienced with Wells Fargo so it's not that I'm completely inept at handling my checkbook and angry about it.  I just believe that with as something as important as money, every customer deserves to be treated respectfully and made to feel like their business is important to the company.  As with any other business, if I repeatedly recieve shoddy customer service, I will gladly tell others to try to prevent them the same headache.

Never trust the online banking system of wells fargo. I am a software engineer and I have seen the way they make u overdraft your accounts.
It is simply pathetic.
Wells Fargo sucks. And if you try to claim cos there is no mistake of yours...the customer service is badly rude.

I deposited a payroll check in my Wells Fargo account. One week later (without notifying me) Wells Fargo deducted the deposit from my account and caused checks to bounce. The overdraft fees added up to $462. Wells Fargo could not tell me why the check was not honored by the bank it was drawn on, but assured me that it wasn't their fault. After many conversations with their customer service representatives and supervisors, (several of whom yelled at me on the phone), Wells Fargo had to admit that it was indeed their mistake and they refunded the overdraft charges. Their service was poor and all but the person who admitted and credited the mistake, were rude. They would not listen to me as I tried to explain that it obviously was their encoding error. They blamed the payroll company and the other banking institution. I was appalled by their unwillingness to even consider that they had made a mistake and more upset by their insistence to hold me responsible. I will be choosing another bank.

I've had no problems with WF at all.  I really don't have a clue what anyone is talking about, but, I've had no teller or bank personel "pressure me" into signing up for services of any kind, and I go into the bank on a regular basis to make deposits into my account.

Honestly, I find it hard to believe any of the negative reviews on WF or anything on the website, since some of the same reviews with the exact same wording are on reviews of the other banks here, the only thing to change is the name of the bank.

I worked for WF for almost 4 years i was a service manager, that is the position right under a branch manager. I stepped down to a teller after i had my second child. It is the worst place i have ever worked. I also worked for Bank of America ( which was wonderful) and Chase. I can tell you Wells Fargo's inside slogan is 8 products for every customer. They only care about sales. They treat their employees badly it they do not push products on the consumers. You will even be fired if you dont push the products and make sales. It is the most negitive environment to work in. I am not kidding everything is based on sales. Each branch has to report, sometimes 3 times a day,how many sales they have(credit cards, debit cards, checking accounts, savings accounts...etc.) That is why they harass people so much. They will loose there jobs if they dont do it. It is so sad!!!

I would like to inform all Wells Fargo mortgage customers who are experiencing a hardship and hoping to get a loan mod (in a timely manner) or any other type of help the truth how loss mitigation actually works. You may make your own judgement. I have posted several times the difficulty I was having with faxing documents to wf to get the process started.(you have to have all this info received and transfered to your negotiator 1ST to get this process started) Today on friday I made 2 phone calls . One to Va and 1 to wf. I went into a local wf branch on Monday and they faxed 3 pay stubs, 2007 tax documents.Everyday, I received the same answer, never received, takes 2-3 days to transfer the image.I called va as this is a va loan. They called wf and they told them the same plus that they have never received the hardship letter that they told me that they received 1 month ago. Va called me back and told me to fax the info to them and they would fax it to wf. (Va monitors this whole process and does step on their toes) Fine, I went to the local wf bank and asked the rep if she would fax these again. Not only did she faxed these documents, she called the loss mit and asked them to please explain how in the world could you not receive these documents as this is a wells fargo bank.(how many times do these documents need to be faxed by this bank That rep would not talk to that associate even though she verified her employee number and bank info to prove she was a bank employee. Also I was informed by the local associate that all faxes go straight to the computer-no paper at all. The loss mit made me ask the local associate to re-fax these documents again and told me only partial documents came thru. (Shortly afterwards the loss mit was able to read all the faxes on her her screen all of a sudden) The bottom line is I caught loss mit with the local employee as my witness(she had to hold back her true thoughts) in a complete lie. All loss mitigitation does is lie, lie and lie.( this has been going on for 1 month) They do this deliberately to purposely delay and make this process last as long as possible . Hopefully the customer will give up. Now I' m told that all documents have been received and transfered to my negotiator.(She had told me that she needs me to fax all my financial info FIRST-explained that IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR OVER 1 MONTH -was there find it-HOPE NOW SENT IT-IT IS THERE -oH- I FOUND IT) So Wells Fargo customers you have to fight them hard, Really hard- call them everyday let them know this info. Now I want the President of this disgusting company to call me for furthur discussion. This is not the end of this story. I am hot. HOw many hours and days have i spent on this problem.? I intend to inform Hope NOw, Va,and the general public what they are really doing. Oh I receive a letter today-quote"We realize that you may be experiencing financial difficulties and could use assistance to take care of this situation. We may be able to help------Yeh right

Wells Fargo recently modified their overdraft protection practices such that an overdraft protection transfer is initiated (with a $10 fee) when PENDING debit transactions MIGHT push your account into the negative (but they ignore pending deposits). Mind you, they don't charge an overdraft fee on an unprotected account until the transactions actually post. This has happened to me 3 times in the past 2 months, and in none of those cases did my account actually go negative. They refunded the fee twice, but I shouldn't have to call and request that.  The customers with overdraft protection in place typically present a lower risk, so this practice can only be explained by their desperation to shore up losses from home loans that they never should have written in the first place. It seems to me that this is their way of covering their own overdrafts in the mortgage market.

Bunch of crooks. I worked for a large, car dealership business who banks directly through them. My paychecks always ALWAYS went into my checking account the very next day. The bank decided to hold one of my paychecks for almost a week and neglected to tell me about it. When you just put over six hundred dollars in your account, of course you don't check the balance every day when you've only bought a few bottles of soda. So they slapped me with almost $550 in overdraft fees and made it sound like they did me a real favor. There's no way I could pay that all at once so they offered me a credit card so I could pay it in increments. I ceased all checking transactions with them. The credit collections department then forced me into doing a post-dated check by phone to make a payment I could not afford at the time. When I went to give the bank branch money to cover it they said what collections did is not even possible! Not only "not possible", but illegal in Arizona! But collections pulled the money out anyways. That hit me with ANOTHER overdraft that nobody well waive. The bank tells me to contact collections and collections tells me to contact the bank. I'd almost say somebody planned the whole thing. The worst part is, I probably don't have anything that would hold up in court, so I can't even sue them! Never use this bank!

Well Where to start I not only work at the company but have banked with them for years! In response to the Service Manager/Teller: Sales are an integral peice to any business for revenue which keep you in a job and paid and if you don't see that I can see why your no longer in managment! In response to the Gringo and his modification to reiterate a point: Modifications are a courtesy program that WF has done in an attempt to help stem the tide of all the forclosures going on that are harming our economy! That means for all the costs that you've forced the bank to incur on your behalf due to you not paying your loan (which since it's a VA backed loan I know it isn't a crazy adjustable rate loan or interest only or one of those silly loans it'a a 30 year fixed rate!) you've failed to pay your debt and instead of FORCLOSURE the bank is attempting to workout and refactor you loan so not only will you get to keep it (if you pay the loan) but also it will be at a better interest rate(the bank makes less money) and they will forgive any past due balances and stop any forclosure proceedings (just a side note this means that your getting even more breathing room). So to recap Gringo 1. A Courtesy 2. No Forclosure 3. Keep your home 4. Bank makes less on loan 5. Bank eats past due balance and every other cost associated with your loan as a loss and it's not on you 6. Your credit isn't completely destroyed! Now that said everyone complaining on here I believe you've all had bad experiences and unfortunate at the least what bothers me is that every other day and person who has gone that extra mile in the company for you, you've categoricaly thrown them in with the bad guys. It's not the company but a bad experience with an individual that your all talking about! Alot of what I've read is iresponsible management of accounts and lack of personal ownership of your own finances....the bank is NOT your mom and the bank is NOT your accountant! The bank is there to allow you to have easy access to your money in multiple states and protect it. In return you agree not to abuse that account and pay for that service if you do misuse the service! That's called a contract and a business. To those that posted negativity and work at the company your performance at work often is the reason for these very complaints if you applied your self you'd find an awesome opportunity at the company I've worked hard over the last 3 years and have seen my career grown enormously oh yeah and I started as a teller! Those that are dissatisfied with the bank it's a free market take it somewhere else or look for positives, grow from your mistake, quit blaming others and take personal responsibility for your own actions or lack there of! Final note the hold on the money order and paycheck is for your protection because if those funds bounce or are fraudulent then your on the hook for the amount of the fund! That means your real beef is with the company that either pays your wage or issued you the check! Good luck all it's a great company to work for and like any other bank in the business of growing or staying solvent won't keep forgiving YOUR mishandling of money or loans or ignorance! Good luck regardless

This bank doesn't even deserve one star!

We have been long time customers of Wells Fargo and in January 2008 we added a small business banking account to our other existing accounts. They are a terrible bank for small businesses. They told us that if we used their merchant services they would not charge us any bank fees. Sounds good huh?? WRONG! Their merchant service fees are HUGE and their service is terrible. We recently had a customer try to scam us out of our money by having a chargeback against our account for money he paid to us. With no questions asked, Wells Fargo deducted the $3000 from my account and then they also held back all of my credit card transactions to the tune of $6000 as a 'risk management. At this point in time I am still out $9000 and I have provided them with all the proof they need to show that the person who got the chargeback was a scammer. Thanks for sticking up for small businesses Wells Fargo! I will be changing banks today!

Wells Fargo is HORRIBLE. I used to work for a company that does their customer service reviews directly with their customers and of all the banks we did these reviews for WF was the worst. I myself have been with the bank for about 9 years now and its been getting progressively worse and worse to the point now which I'm about to close out all accounts with them.

The card services are especially abhorent, I'm dealing with a card problem now concerning a re-billing of an old charge. I've already faxed them copies of the statement (that had copies of the check i payed with that THEY stamped and approved). I also, sent them a statement of the money market account from which the ammount of the check was withdrawn. Three weeks later it has yet to be resolved after multiple calls.

This was not the only card service problem I've had. My WF account is not my primary account and therefore isn't active much. WF decided to suspend my debit and credit cards WITHOUT even notifying me via mail or phone! Needless to say when I tried to buy something on the card one day I was embarassed and incredibly livid at them. They saw nothing wrong with their practice of no notification!

Take care when dealing with them... Keep on top of your statements! Better yet, just go someplace else if you can!

Only gave one star to Wells Fargo Auto Finance because there is nothing lower here. A terrible bank that is gaining that reputation for good reason. At the end of your auto lease they will try to collect as many fees as they think they can get away with. I will never do any business with them again and hope that others will benefit from my bad experience with Wells Fargo and avoid them.

The Absolute Worst bank I have ever worked with! Wells Fargo sent a letter in the mail with a deal to refinance my co-op with no refinance fees. They said I was pre-approved. When I gave them the $300.00 that they said I would get back, they sent out an appraiser and said my place was worth over $130,000 less than when I purchased it. The purchase value has dropped by about $30,000 but certainly not $130,000. The appraiser but in multiple wrong sets of data which devalued my home. When I asked them to re-evaluate, they said the figure stood as is. They told me that I could refinance if I now start paying mortgage insurance of about $100.00 per month. Communication with the complany was beyond awful. My loan officer said he wasn't returning my phone calls because he was no longer my loan officer but I had no contact from Wells Fargo to indicate this had changed. When I asked him what his supervisors title and telephone numbers where, he said he did not know. He put me on the phone with another person because he couldn't help me anymore because my account wasn't his, and this new person told me that he couldn't he couldn't help me either. Warning!!!! Do not fall into their refinance traps. It is a scam!!!

I've banked with Wells Fargo for 10 years now, and have NEVER had a problem. They are friendly, and are always willing to work with the customers. I am actually really upset that I have to stop banking with them due to moving. There are no branches where I'm going.

Basically, I see a main common theme between all of the complainers...overdraft fees. Here's a simple solution to that complaint...DON'T SPEND MORE THAN YOU HAVE!!! I am not perfect, and I am in debt just like everyone else, so if i take out more than I have, obviously I'm going to expect a fee, I mean come on people! The bank is loaning you money, so of course they're going to charge you for taking out more than you have! It's common sense!

Quit acting like children and grow up!
