	fitman (36) 06/21/2008	it sucks This simple phrase was a guy named Joe's favorite comment on just about everything in the mid '60s, so some Greenwich Village friends had it printed on little 1" buttons (badges). They expected to sell just a few but were pleasantly surprised when they moved a thousand in only a couple of weeks. Even the local beat cops wore them inside their uniform hats. Inspired by this unexpected windfall, one of those friends printed up hundreds of sayings on tens of thousands of buttons, opened a store selling nothing else, and started the great button craze of '67.
