Ok, Im dating myself now.....there were NO computers in school....I took typing though which did prepare me for the computer world...at least I don't one finger it

Even in my not so far removed day it was a little typing and mostly goofing off. I've learned more about computers on myspace...

UPDATE: GTH, 90% of the goofing off I mentioned was spent playing Oregon Trail...

I had to walk fifteen miles to school, and it was uphill both ways! It was tough fighting those June blizzards as well. We took typing. All the kids really learn today is typing and they get to fool around on the computer a little bit. With software changing over every twelve to eighteen months, what do the kids learn for basics? "Keyboarding," I guess.

I don't suppose that kids get to play Oregon Trail anymore. Remember trying to ford the river and having your oxen drown!

Since when I went to high school I had to catch the Stegosaurus to get there, this wasn't part of the curriculum. From what I've seen of it in my kids high school its either keyboarding or computer science circa 1912.

The computer classes in my high school were pretty worthless. There was word processing, where you supposedly learned to type and then how to format papers (I really learned how to type when I got to college, and I just picked it up on my own), and then there were various classes about obsolete or seldom used software packages like Microsoft Works or Claris Works.
