I'm out of the country right now, and will be until July 8 for school/work. Most likely I'll have one, maybe two shifts on the 4th.UPDATE: Last summer I was out of the country, but this summer I don't have to head to Europe until after the July 4th weekend. No working for me this year. I plan on taking it easy and having some fun.

I bartended last year on the 4th and made awful money even though I was working by myself. This year I had 3 of my coworkers try to get me to work for them, but let them know I'll be out of town. I feel sorry for those who have to work on the 4th. Its a day that everybody should be celebrating.

In previous years, I chose to work because I wanted the double-time. Now I have a more conventional 8-to-5-type job, so earning extra dough on the 4th is no option, which is OK because it always got devoured by taxes. So this year I'm off on the 4th and I will have a 3-day weekend. Yes!

Unfortunately my job requires me to work on this holiday.
