 | jy826 (21) 07/22/2008 | Lancaster was the first pick made by the Clippers after they moved from San Diego to Los Angeles. They had hoped to get Alvin Robertson, but he was taken by the Spurs with the seventh pick, and the Clippers selected Gordon. Although Robertson wasn't a superstar /franchise type-player he was a good solid all around ball player, especially on defense and was named an All-Star four times, while Gordon only played four seasons (including just eight in his final season) and his career highs were 16 minutes per game and 7.5 points per game in the 85-86 season. This pick helped get the Clippers off on the wrong foot in LA although there were several more disasters that lay ahead for the Clippers while in LA. Still on the board at this time were Otis Thorpe, Kevin Willis and of course John Stockton. Michael Cage was also available but to the Clippers credit they selected him with the 14th overall pick.
