For (dumb) people who think mustangs are great, look at the specs, times, etc. Camaros have you beat. "Stangs" = 5.slow

I think these cars are pretty good cars, I don't have one so I can't say that they are fast or they run well,But I know that there pretty cars and I would like to maybe think about geting one some day.
Celica_TRD 05/01/2001
The mustang is an all around great car. the v8 has great power and besides a celica or supra i would DEFINITLY have a mustang gt. now if ya got the mustang cobra type R, now theres a car.
Five2Brunette 04/12/2001
Terrible? That's a little harsh. I can think of worse cars. Although when I test drove one in 99, I was not pleased at all. They're just nothing like they used to be when I was driving them year after year back in the 80's. I do miss those days though.. my favorite thing about them was the sound of them when down shifting!

I understand the attachment some old timers might have with the Mustang in their desperate attempt to hang on to youth but otherwise the Mustang is completely irrelevant in 2001. To start off, the current Mustang is THE ugliest piece of s**t to hit the road since the AMC Pacer and then some. Second, it ain't all that reliable nor refined and third its not that fast. I'll be taking a Honda Prelude or Toyota Celica GT thank you very much. Who cares if the Mustang is a domestic? Sentiment and patriotism doesn't work with me. I personally don't care if the Mustang is from Ford an American company, the fact is there are much better alternatives out there that happen to be imports!! BOTTOM LINE: Mustangs are a dime a dozen and are nothing special.
Cage_rules 03/29/2001
OVER ALL FORD JUST SUCKS! BUT THE BEST FORD AND MUSTANG IS THE FORD MUSTANG SHELBY GT 500! DODGE RULES! VIPER WOULD SMOKE ANYTHING
Phuk2pac 02/27/2001
I just love to pick on Mustangs all day....its not about powerful heavy imports...its about hybrid imports i have a 1992 Honda Civic with 1997 integra Type R engine...mustang people usually get mad when you ***SMOKE*** the crap out of them. i guess its the mustang attitude that i hate.

Ford broke new ground in the domestic performance world by ditching their pushrod engines and introducing their new high-flow modular V8s. This choice has obviosly paid off- the modular V8 in DOHC form creates a whooping 320hp from only 281cubes, without the aid of any forced induction. These new Mustangs accelerate smoothly and smartly, and handle fairly well also. For the price, you can't go wrong. I give this one a 5.

"the horsepower/liter ratio is low"- shut up moron. HP/liter ratio won't matter when my 2000GT is blowing the doors off your "high hp/liter ratio" Integra Type-R. Now to the Mustang- I'm getting used to you people overating pieces of crap like the Celica and underating cars with decent performance like the Mustang. This car is exceptionally well built, comfortable, and reliable. Not to mention comes standard with a 190hp 3.8L V6 and can be optioned out to a 260hp 4.6L V8. Excellent performance for $22,000 with 5.9 second 0-60 and 14.0 second 1/4miles. This car deserves a five in my book...its been running strong for almost 40 years.

I sold my 1995 Mustang V6 Automatic (hardtop) to get my current 1997 Camaro Z28 Automatic (with t-tops). Obviously, the Camaro is a lot faster. The automatic in the Mustang always seemed to be in the wrong gear and the transmission shifted very very slowly. The auto in the Camaro has very firm shifts and the overdrive gear does not get anoying like it did in the Mustang. Handling wise, I loved how the Mustang corner carved. The Camaro has a much bulkier feel around the corners and is not as much fun to drive. The Camaro interior has a much more cockpit like feel and is much more roomy. I am very tall so the Mustang did not give me any room to move. It quality of the interior is the same. Exterior styling is vastly different. The Mustang has more of the appearance of a normal "sporty car" whereas the Camaro is very flat, with a mean look to it. The Mustang was okay for a v6 car, but I needed more. The Z28, with 285hp is blast go fast in. The tires are very easy to break free, even from a 30mph roll. The exhaust note is great. The engine is very loud, which I like, but it scares my female passengers :) I drive this car all year (even in the worst Wisconsin weather) and with the traction control on, I have had no problems of any kind! The Camaro begs to be driven hard. For the price that you pay for the Camaro, you can not get a faster, better handling, and better looking car. Dont get me wrong, the Mustang is a nice mix of performace and comfort, but it just wasn't for me.

the day i consider this a good car is when toyota makes the mustang.....this car is a sad excuse for a sports car...everyone and their grandmother have one.. i see 10 at every intersection, after being made for almost what like 40-50 yrs, this thing hasnt imporved much at all......
vagabond3000 12/23/2000
When will domestic car manufacturers learn to make a car that can handle? The Mustang is unrefined. The HP/liter ratio is low, and the overall performance isn't that great.
Siskel&Ebert 12/09/2000
My best friend owns a '88 5.0 and we agree to disagree on his money-pit. I drive a '68 Camaro SS that looks like the day it came off the lot. I just feel they're far too common for me. You can hardly spit without hitting one these days. He's got well over 10k in the engine alone so where does it end? You get stiffed on all your performance parts and yet I can do up my 350 for a fraction of the cost. I'll take character and classic looks over commonplace anyday

How can anyone not like this car? I own two of them. My 1992 Mustang LX (2.3 four cylinder engine) is driven everyday, has 130,000 miles on it, and looks and runs like brand new. It gets about 26mpg and is way quicker than your average Civic. Handles great,is very comfortable for two people, looks good, and is EXTREMELY reliable. No complaints at all. My 1999 Mustang GT convertable is my weekend warrior. You want speed? This thing blows the doors off 80% of whats on the road. Its comfortable, get LOTS of looks, handles superbly, has an excellent stereo, and most importantly is VERY FUN TO DRIVE. Its also easily modified into a serious performance machine.

I have a 2000 mustang and I love it. I think that Mustangs are the nicest cars on the road, and for who ever said that Mustangs are for hicks does not know what they are talking about because I am a latina so I am not a hick. Mustangs are beautiful, fun to drive, and will never give you a lot of trouble if they are built right and treated right. If you have any comments on wht I have just said then e-mail me at Joannf574@cs.com

I definitely have something to say about the mustang's. First of all because I own one, and I am not a hick as some people suggest. Second, my "pearl" mustang it’s an old car that runs so good, I can't complaint. Although, I feel that the mustang it’s a little too big, it has a great engine and runs smoothly. My family and I have put good mileage on the car and we never had to take to the mechanic for something serious, only small checks. I rate this car as a reliable car, great for the city or for a long trip.

Why spend that much on a car that is still SLOWER than a Chevrolet Camaro? Not to mention that the new mustang is extremely ugly. The only thing the Cobra has going for it is the independent rear.
curv4733om 03/10/2000
All I have ever seen this car do is get the women. No offense, but it's not exactly a speed demon. The looks are that of a Volvo and a Beetle hybrid. A sports car in the past, but somewhere in the 70's gas problem lost it's true Horses.

I just purchased a 2000 GT and can say that it is a blast. With 260hp and torque to spare it makes you smile every time you turn the key. For a fully loaded functional sports car for under 23K this one cant be beat!! Check it's acceleration vs other cars that cost much much more !! (5.5 sec 0-60) Fit and finish for the 99-00 models are excellent. previous cars I have owned include an Integra and Eagle Talon Turbo AWD. The Mustang will eat those for lunch :)

the mustang is the most over rated car in north america. i hate mustangs. THIS CAR IS CRAP! Everyone who owns mustangs are nothing but hicks.
chil4237om 02/15/2000
I also own one of those 3.8L Mustangs that has gone through one engine in under 30,000 miles due to guess what? A HEAD GASKET THAT BLEW. Less than 16,000 miles later, new engine, it blew another gasket! Don't every think "Customer Service that is job one" (which is rumored to be subcontracted out to people who have no clue other than what their computer tells them about your car according to VIN #) will ever help help you beyond a warranty. They will help a select few that make a lot of noise, just to shut them up.

I owned one of the infamous 3.8L Mustangs (1995). Blew its head gasket at 54k miles after four years of attentive and timely maintenance. Many other problems. I will never buy another Ford.
late4102du 02/10/2000
The best valued sports car out there. Would much rather have a car I could actually drive than a Ferrari or Lambo. One I can afford would be nice too.Better built than comparbly-equipped Z28s and T/As, as well as imports.

An American classic. After four unsuccessful years of looking for a '69 Boss 429, I got my '96 GT, and have been nothing but happy with it. It has just enough horsepower to feed my addiction to velocity, but not too much that it gets me into trouble with the boys in blue.
mrs.2143et 12/02/1999
I love my Mustang - never given me any problems, beautiful car, it's wonderful! I will never sell it or trade it in!

I think Mustangs are overrated. Everyone has one & they're not that nice.

Ford Mustang is one of the longest running American sports cars, second to corvette. Its versatility makes it ideal for customization and affordability with optionn makes it one of America's most popular cars.
SKAL192OM 10/26/1999
Mustang is the best American made car for the $.
