He epitomized the detached cool and nobility of the British character especially in the brief but brilliant seires The Prisoner. His performance as "Secret Agent" (Danger Man) John Drake he was a British Spy on a level of Sean Connery's James Bond and arguably would have made a better replacement than Roger Moore. He matured into a fine character actor in later years most memorably as the cruel King Edward in Braveheart.
