This is crap, so science made us? Science according to the fictional author, Ron L. Hubbard organized the entire earth? This is the answer to something WE have created. SCIENCE IS MAN'S NAME FOR organization NOT creation!
myspace-94825673 05/30/2008
Wasn't this whole idea based on a bet to see who could create the most believable religion from a group of fiction writers?? Anyone who wants to take this seriously should take a look at Tom Cruise! FREAK!!!!
Linette 05/29/2008
They had to make a religion for Hollywood. It's good they believe something.
myspace-188843361 05/29/2008
OK, believing in devine aliens is a bit weird for me...
myspace-9583592 05/29/2008
CULT!
twansalem 05/28/2008
While some kid may have been arrested in England for calling Scientology a cult, that doesn't mean that it isn't one.
magellan 05/28/2008
I'll give Scientology one extra star for the cool sci fi elements. I think all religions could learn from this aspect - who doesn't like Scifi?
FranksWildYear s 05/01/2008
I get the feeling early that in his career L. Ron Hubbard had a really good tax accountant and things just got out of hand from there.
Binnietheblood ybooh 04/02/2008
Tom Cruise is da pimp!
CanadaSucks 03/31/2008
An absolute cult with some real questions that demand to be answered. . .which places it only one notch lower than organized evangelical goofballs with a superiority complex. . .
webmsilsl 03/31/2008
Just ask Lisa MacPherson's friends and loved ones what they think about the scumbags. The Mafia of Religions, except they aren't a religion, they're a cult, sick, vicious, greedy and evil.
cimbrel30 09/24/2007
Amazing...now they have their own mecca town. It is a little city in Florida where they own more than 20 buildings. They are getting bigger!!! Will Tom convince David Beckham to play for the town's soccer team??
mast3r 07/03/2007
All scientologists are sheep.baaaaah baaaah baaaah baaah, bleat you god damn idiots.Xenu dumped all the aliens into the volcano on Hawaii and then blew them up with hydrogen bombs, lollll. This story sure gives me a hell of a laugh everytime i come across it on the net.
Yogurt 06/02/2007
L. Ron Hubbard is widely rumored to have said "The way to make a million dollars is to start a religion."
Polina 05/22/2007
The nutcase religion to beat them all. You have to be certified to associate with this lot. They have taken confidence trickster-ism to the extreme. Bordering on downright evil they are.
pugwash01 05/09/2007
I don't think this should be considered as a religion, as it is really a group of "who's who" gathering together spitting out ideas and morals. Without being too nasty I would have to say that this group reminds me of a neighborhood watch meeting!
Skye27 05/08/2007
There are some good lessons in Scientology, but the rest of it is just - strange.
blue47 10/31/2006
silliness

Weird.
MattShizzle 05/21/2006
A cult that was invented by a science fiction writer. Pretty much says it all.
JohnSpina 05/11/2006
This is no religion. This is a cult.A religion should be to make some sense out of things we cannot fathom. My mother died in December. She had a brief illness but near the end she was so sick that she could literally not take care of her basic needs. In other words, she was an invalid. If she had lived I was seriously pondering putting her in a nursing home.I like to think that God did not want this,so He took her home so that He can take care of her.The funeral Mass was poignant insofar as the priest said that her body was gone but not her soul. That is what religion is supposed to do.Religion is not supposed to brainwash folks.I will give you an example. If you read my postings, you will know that I was acquainted with Diana Canova. She was an actress who played Corrine on Soap. She WAS a Scientologist.Well, she left.In an interview she said "...I had a choking anger toward anyone who said or thought ill of Scientology..." In real life she was a sweet, generous, down to earth woman. In real life, however, she did get testy at times when I would ask her about Scientology. She never choked me,but I saw this pleasant, likable woman's face turn a little dark when this topic was broached. As for the "choking anger" a religion is not supposed to inspire those sort of feelings. When she said that, she sounded almost like a follower of bin Ladin.Think about it.Is there a difference between that and "Death to the infidels!"?OK,so Ms.Canova never strapped explosives to her body and blew folks up.But that a religion would even engender that sort of morbid attitude, well, you have to wonder if it is much of a religion.Scientology preys on people who are not emotionally stable to begin with and these folks are usually separated from their families at young ages,so a void is created and these vultures charge the HollyWEIRD crowd a pile of green in between to fill the emotional abyss.
Donovan 01/27/2006
We all see what happened to Tom Cruise. This in itself is enough to scare me away. L. Ron Hubbard, the creator of Scientology claims the reason for the Islamic faith was because the trade in Mohammed's town wasn't very good, so he invented the faith to "boost" it a little. Ron claimed that man was not created by God but man invented God. He also claims that there was no Christ. He says the Christian faith is part of an implant or false memory planted by an evil space alien. He claims to have been nearly run down by a train on the planet Venus. I guess I can understand why Tom is so into Scientology, it makes ummmm perfect sense...
Survivorfan1 01/27/2006
Let's see - a "religion" that believes in among other things, that some aliens came here to earth millions of years ago and whose spirits are trapped in a volcano? OK, sure - um, can you say CULT????!! Yet another of the many brainwashing bandwagon feel-good movements Hollywood types leech onto when they get bored with New Age, Kabblah or whatever is the big thing right now in La-La Land.
Djahuti 01/04/2006
This one sure seems like a scam to me.They are very adept at amassing large sums of money- which makes me doubtful of their "spiritual" intentions.
Drummond 12/19/2005
Famous for sending a great looking person of the opposite sex at you for enticement. But anybody with a brain starts to suspect something is wrong when every little memo is copyrighted for protection.
GenghisTheHun 10/12/2005
I really can't add much to what has already been said below. I saw a crowd coming out of a Scientology Church in Southern Cal a few years ago. They were overwhelmingly white and well dressed. All appeared to be baby boomers, but maybe that has changed. Who could possibly take this seriously? I guess you have to be a pseudo-educated celebrity or live on the left coast.
dairymilk 10/12/2005
A pyramid scheme. Guess who's at the top? Tom and John. Middle tier is the those actors who became scientologists to boost their stale careers. The "proletariat" are the suckers at the bottom investing their money and common sense in this nonsense. It's crap like this that deems religion a joke. It's really sad all those people who need to get de-programmed by scientology. Just, sad. Bored, middle-class white folk.
NekoFaust 10/04/2005
Oh jeeze,as much as I like Science, this is just /sad/. Nothing more than a way for this guy to syphon the money out of gullible people's bank accounts. And from what I've read on Wikipedia's article,Scientologists are against psychiatrics because they're 'unethical individuals who deny human spirituality (WTF?) and peddle fake cures.' But wait!It gets better! The Church of Scientology (an oxymoron if I ever saw one) claims that psychiatry was 'responsible for World War I,the rise of Hitler and Stalin, the decline in education standards in the United States, the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo, and the Septempber 11the attacks'.Oh,and apparantly, some Scientologists have died due to mistreatment by other Scientologists. My father's sister is a psychiatrist;therefore,I take great offense to the BS they're peddling. I respect the people who belong to this 'religion' -coughcultcough-,but come /on/.It's a bunch of BS that has no other use then to make you give them your money. It's a disgrace to the word 'science',and to religion.
bebe23 09/21/2005
Why is this in the religion category? It's not a true religion - it's just the result of money-hungry man's bet that he won. Case closed. Now it just a bunch a high priced lawyers who have to defend its presence in countries like Germany as well as a bunch of dummies who go out and buy L. Ron's books to get them on the best seller's list. The people on the top like Travolta and Cruise are treated like kings while the poorer members are sucked dry of their funds. Now Dr. Cruise thinks he's an expert on psychiatry and psychotropics. I hope that this woman he's marrying smartens up and leaves him. I really don't want to see if this guy can reproduce because the results would be frightening. Oh yes, do you really think it's worth $5,000.00 to see Tom Cruise in person? I don't, no way, no how! By the way, is Hubbard dead or alive?
numbah16tdhaha 09/15/2005
Scientology killed my math professor many years ago. She died of a simple respiratory virus that her religious beliefs wouldn't let her see a doctor for. My government altered immune system could have slaughtered that virus and it did her in on account of her religion. Wise teachings, for sure.
mahjong 07/15/2005
What a way to earn money. Cult leaders and prostitution are two of the oldest trades on earth. It must be success that keeps them going. If you are missing the coginitive ability to sort out bulls***, you deserve to part with your money. Can I get one of those nifty Church of Scientology t-shirts too? Only $5999.95
CherrySoda99 06/25/2005
I know that Tom Cruise is heavily into Scientology, and frankly, I don't see the point of it. I don't understand it, but I wouldn't try it anyway.
kingguiness 06/11/2005
Scientology is a bunch of baloney! Charles Manson took a lot of his philosophies from Scientology and used them to brainwash his followers. So did other cults from that time including the Process which Manson was also involved with. Scientology is garbage! Sorry John Travolta but you're going down the wrong path!
Miss_Perverse 06/11/2005
Objectively, this shouldn't be classified as a religion. It should be deemed a money-making scheme and a cult. In the quest for faith, you shouldn't be need to pay money. Except if's it to help the needy or poor. Not some Hollywood folk (Tom Snooze) enlightened by L.Ron Hubbard. Hubbard invented this pseudo-religion, therefore it's a cult. I'm glad it's practically non-existent here in Australia. Hollywood can keep it's Scientology fad and red-thread wearing Kabbalah students.
Dilbert Perkins 04/21/2005
Things aren't going right? It's because you are posessed by dead space aliens! That's right! And for hundreds of thousands of dollars, the Church of Scientology can exorcise them for you! See www.xenu.net for the TRUTH about the evil Church of Scientology.
caligula 04/15/2005
Give it a two star rating for Hubbard's ability to steal people's money. Hilarious beliefs are almost as silly as Xianity- Almost.
BirdEgal202 12/30/2004
Checked it out for maself, buy self enlightenment for something like 5Gs in 8 easy steps or sumin.
OrangeCharlie 12/05/2004
I was open-minded and visited www.scientology.com. This is definately not for me.
VisionDude8 11/13/2004
not a religion. And what exactly do they believe in?
Specialboothvi cJr. 11/12/2004
This is a cult! Why is it in this weblist?
sfalconer 09/29/2004
It's more like a Philosophy club than any thing else. You can call it a cult if you want but if you look up the definition you will see that all religions are cults. With all the Hollywood wack jobs that are involved with this group, its enough scare any one away.
WarGamefan93 09/28/2004
Stupid. In fact it isn't a religion at all, it's a cult. So Marquis de squid loses, and if you want a real religion, choose christianity. Hands down, it's the only choice.
warrior4thelor d 06/26/2004
CULT !
Marquis de Squid 03/27/2004
Hey guys! Check it out! I'm a Thetan!!! Woo Hoo!!! Screw you Xenu!!! We can all be gods, it only costs about 80 grand and sanity! Alright! =D
musicfan 03/11/2004
Scientology is not a religion, it's a cult.
Temlakos 11/13/2003
L. Ron Hubbard started this religion on a bet. What kind of revelation is that?
Enkidu 09/24/2003
The cellar-dweller on this list as I write, and deservedly so. An almost certain definition of a cult is a religion invented and marketed by ONE person (Mr. Hubbard and his masterpiece, "Diuretics.") All the major world religions developed through thousands of years of philosophy, tradition, thought, coming together on inspired individuals after the ethical systems had already been established or at least made possible. Scientology emerged not out of an philosophical system but out of the greed and cynicism of an individual; it may not be as evil as Satanism, but it does make a much better joke.
jred 08/09/2003
Better watch what you say folks these creeps might come after you. Tom Cruise, Travolta......
StanUzbeck 07/27/2003
Anyone stupid enough to pay for an auditing session deserves to be thoroughly fleeced. Jenna Elfman (one of their drones) once said that AIDS isn't a disease, it's a state of mind. They are no better than the Christian Scientists who let their children die from things like the measles because they are too stupid to get medical help. Morons, morons, morons. But Christians are idiots too.
