I love Wal-mart! I don't have a lot of money, and I'm kind of a night owl. So, when I can buy something the same for a lot cheaper then I go for it. It's a benefit that I can go at 3am if I want to, as well. I've worked for Sam's Club for 10 years, so I understand the hatred of company rules, but so what if you don't work there. What do you care? So, they are bitchy to you when you check out. I know it's annoying, but there are the self checkouts now. I find that to be quite wonderful. Try it out sometime, if you feel the need to get quality merchandise for a cheaper price. Hey, just an idea.

I just happen to be an associate working at walmart only because it is a pay check and even the associates do not want to go to walmart. that store is cursed, the more people buy from it the more the "big shots" get greedy. Also they treat their associates very bad. yes it is a good idea to get the customers out of the store faster but the cashiers get paid more then sales associates and that is not fair. the associates are always gloomy because the customers think they can trash the entire store and we are the ones that are getting into trouble if our area is not clean.

Amazing value and a good selection of just about everything (clothing, household goods, toys, jewelry, food, etc.).

I loved the Wal-Mart near the college I used to go to. I hate the one by where I live now. It is awful, always crowded, even on Sundays at midnight, no place to park. I have never been able to find a sales associate, ever, so I don't know what they are like except for the ones at the cash registers, who always seem depressed and miserable. I have never been impressed with anything I have purchased at Wal-Mart either. I give it a 1 star rating for this reason.
rosemd 03/19/2007
Life is too short to shop at Wal-Mart. I think Wal-Mart is actually bad for the economy as a whole. How many good jobs have gone overseas as a result of Wal-Mart bullying their suppliers into lower prices? How many smaller stores have they driven out of business? I'm nearly 2.5 years Wal-Mart free and couldn't be happier with my decision.

right i think mejer is soo much better and accutally some of the prices are better but walmart is more know in most states mejer is only in the northern states
URSHITEOUS 02/23/2007
The prices are worth the trip but the employees are so miserable it makes you not want to come back. they are constantly out of stock on almost everything or they have all the aisles blocked off at 7:00 pm for floor waxing or something, so you cant even get around I would hate to see the lawsuits if a fire broke out and they had the aisles blocked like that. For me, if i can make it out of work in time to go to one of their competitors that cost a few cents more im going there.

I usually go into a Walmart when I’m feeling low and I want to see more pathetic people than myself so I can get my spirits up.
GenghisTheHun 02/19/2007
I swear I'll never go into Wal-Mart again. Once in a while I break the oath because I see some ad, so I go in. It is so depressing that I usually exit screaming. I swear I'll never go into Wal-Mart again!

Walmart has good prices. The one by my house is the dirtiest store I have ever been to though! The employees are scary and they never smile or acknowledge you. It's like, HELLO?!?!, I'm paying you money, the least you could do is say hi or thank you, have a nice day. Nothing. It's also impossible to get anywhere there because the aisles are super small and it seems like the people there seem to think they have to bring EVERYONE in their family with them, including every child in their family, which they of course let run wild through the store. I don't mind traveling the 30-40 minutes to a newer Walmart. It's less chaotic, cleaner and I still get the good prices. Of course, Target is my favorite. It's clean, nice big aisles so you don't have to crawl over people to shop, they always have awesome clearance sales & I just feel more comfortable there.

I agree, the service is lousy, they treat their employees badly, but hey ......you can't beat the low prices.

Ordered a Jeep Liberty SE terrain stroller on walmart.com November 15 ($118.76). One week later the wrong stroller shows up (Urban terrain $88.76). Since the item received was less expensive I could not return it at my local walmart store. UPS picked wrong item up and I waited again for the correct item to arrive. Today December 4, ANOTHER WRONG ITEM shows up (Cherokee sport $49.88) Needless to say, after several lengthy phone calls I am very upset. My account was charged for another 2 shippings and here I am without the stroller I ordered and without my money. As I explained to customer service. "we entered an agreement, I pay, you ship...I kept my part of the agreement and I have not received anything 3 weeks later. This is the most unpleasant online shopping experience I've ever had. Will not ever shop online with them again. I even had to fight to have UPS pick the wrong item up. They suggested I go to the postoffice at first. How am I supposed to do that? It defeats the purpose of buying online. A 33lb package with a baby to the postoffice and pay shipping charges again. I dont get it. WalMart should be able to perform better. I'm getting my money back. And that's all they could do, unless I want to reorder again. No thanks.

i went to walmart on Black friday to just a get a money order and i was in line at the serice desk from 4:05 to just about 4:30pm. They had one person on at the service desk, customers complaining. You would have thought being black friday and the busiest shopping day of the year they would have had more people on the service desk. The lines at the registers were actually better then the service.

I wonder what makes people to go to WALMART when it has many drawbacks like less quality product, worst customer services,no one to help in the floor, worst return and exchange policy...Moreover Store Manager in Wal-Mart Store #2584 4375 Lawrenceville Hwy Tucker, GA 30084 (770) 939-2671 --wow he need to defintely learn whats the responsibitly of a manager..I bought a jacket for my daughter and did not save my receipt (since I am a person who dont go and stand in return lines ),but not even a month, zip was broken and stitches was coming out, when i went to customer service,Lady in the Customer Service have no patience to answer my question whether any possibility of exchange. All she said is talk to manager when he crossed the customer service center.I was waiting to talk to him. That lady told him that i told her.I thought he is going to come and talk to me.But he said to that lady with no receipt nothing can be done and he walked away.Great service...Please learn what is Customer Service...I was in this retail service for 3 years ..and I had given excellent customer service and in the mystery shopping I got 100% for my wonderful service.I do take pain in looking at the RN number and search for the product and provide them exact info ..but here she dont even want to stand and listen whats going on at my end...all i could is throw the jacket in the trash ($25.00).Walmart corporate office should take pain to train all theier employees. They dont want to smile and they are really rude. When a question is asked regarding the product the way they respond..dont feel like going to that shop.I stopped going to Walmart, sams club,...

While some of their practices may be less than admirable, it's hard to argue with low prices and great selection in one store when you don't have much money and you hate shopping.

I bought a product online 8/16/06 should of shipped in 7 to 14 days. After tracking it and the product not moving for 5 days I notified ups they instructed be to notify walmart.com. Melody from walmart.com then told me it would take 8 days to trace it. Nine days later I heard nothing and called walmart.com They then informed me the trace started 3 days after my phone call because of website problems, and that it would take 8 business days not including weekend. I told this man the lady I spoke to 9 days ago said nothing about business days and weekends were included and told me I would hear from them by 9/2/06. I told him this was unexceptable. He then put me on hold for 8 minutes. Came back and said weekends are included. He said by 9/6/06 the trace would be complete and if the item was not found they would replace it. I asked if it would be replace and shipped overnight since it would be 22 days before they can replace it. He had to ask his supervisor and put me on hold again for 5 minutes. He came back to tell me his supervisor was with another customer and I needed to hold. I then ask to speak with the supervisor and was put on hold for 25 minutes, after already being on the phone for 20 minutes tring to resolve this. His supervisor Justin got on the phone and told me it would take 7 to 14 business days to complete this trace. My husband then got on the phone and was told the other employees were wrong and it will take 7 to 14 business days to do the trace, with this he asked to refund our money and we will go elsewhere to buy the item. Justin then informed us that they will not refund our money till the trace has been complete. That date if your keeping up is 9/15/06 a month from the purchace. There customer service is a joke for this billion dollar company. No respect for the working man and women, we are fighting over a $200.00 float/boat towable, that now thanks to there shipping methods the season will be over before it gets to my father to use for his birthday! This problem is between UPS and Walmart not me the customer they promised delivery and they failed and will not make it right! I will never buy anything from Walmart.com again, and I will not shop at there store for anything they have no respect for there customers!

Recently our WalMart became a Super Center and I have to admit that I save a ton of money on our necessities and a lot of our groceries, but I have learned a few things of importance. Don't trust their steaks or meat in general if you can't see it, don't buy it. I have bought nice big packages of sirlion steak that look great until you take the top steak off and see that the one under it is all grissly and fatty and unusable, which I wrote them and the manager never did get back with me, but they changed their packaging to say 100% satisfaction or your money back. their generic brand Equate is terrible and isn't worth the boxes they put it in. As far as the comment that everyone makes about Wal Mart putting small businesses out of business???? I don't see this in our area, we now have 2 Super Centers and businesses, big and small, are popping up all around the Super Centers as if they were a magnet.

Some of the employees are rude, some are nice. I had not been in the store for a while. They have those self check out lanes. Well I had to get assistance from an employee and I wish I had just went somewhere else. She came up to me scanned the item and when I turned my back to reach into the buggy, she actually had the nerve to say "are you always in a bad mood?" Mind you I hadn`t said a word to her and this was the second time I had ever seen her in my life. Really I don`t think it is any Walmart employees business what kind of mood I am in. She did not know me from "Adam" and didn`t have any right to say something personal like that to me. She does not know what is going on in my life and frankly it is none of her business. I literally burst into tears. What I`ve noticed around here at this Walmart is that the younger female employees think that they can say or do whatever they want. While the older employees don`t act that way. Strange isn`t it?

If you excuse the crudeness of my post, shopping at Wal-Mart is alot like sex with a hooker. It's cheap, and you'll be in and out in 5 minutes.

Wal-Mart is nothing short of being THE retail Devil. There notorious for going in, and running small buisness into the ground. Bad Buisness.
doobiesNhof 05/10/2006
Terrible store to shop because it is too overstocked and you can hardly navigate. Treats their employees like dirt. Has single handedly put other businesses out of business. Sweat shops. No, I will not support this company and this includes Sam's Clubs.
cwhite329 05/09/2006
I like walmart and have shopped there for years but I'm starting to like Target better. Some of the walmart stores are too cluttered with merchandise and the associates are rude. I haven't had that problem yet at Target.
trishwho 04/24/2006
i work there. The pay sucks and they dont know how to treat their empolyes. And only a 10 % discount... and how much does walmart make a year ..... more money than u can think of.
Silver Eagle 252 03/26/2006
Just a notch about K-Mart, but well below Target in terms of customer service, product quality and shopping atmosphere. Employees are not consistently knowledgable or helpful. Management only seems to understand bottom line without regard for customer service. If I'm ever feeling bad about myself, I just have to visit the local 24-hour Wal-Mart at 2:30 in the morning. The customers and employees at that time of day are models of consumerism/capitalism gone bad.
walmartworkeri nny 03/05/2006
i'm an employee of walmart in nys. maybe before you bash walmart you should try working there. we monsters out of our customers who think their always right. yeah right. now you come in to shop and bitch up a storm and think you can get away with it. doj you think you could do it better if so go for it and for once give a little respect to the one waiting on you.

The Dallas, Oregon wal-mart sucks, Management is rude and you get NO help!! There is one very helpful employee Sharon K. I try to shop if she is there because if I need anything she is very friendly and helpful. GOOD JOB SHARON, you could really teach your fellow employees a lesson.

Every time I end up going against my resolution to never shop there again (for convenience--proximity), I end up thinking I am part of some prank show or psych. experiment to see how many buttons these WalMart people can push; 1. Professionalism: non-existent 2. Customer Service is a nightmare whether I'm there to exchange something or return it (with a receipt or without, it does not make a difference) 3. The floor people have no clue about their merchandise, nor basic human skills, like greeting (I won't push it and ask for them to smile) We had one cashier get all bent out of shape because one item had the wrong price and we wanted it taken off, he rolled his eyed, huffed, and said:"What the hell do you want?!".. huhhh?! we complained to the manager who did not seem too shocked to hear that, and he gave us a $10-gift card (yeah, so I can make sure I go back and get abused for 10 bucks.. thanks but no thanks).. Oh, and this cashier still has a job with WalMart.. Sweet! Conclusion: If you have no skills whatsoever, if you've run off all your friends and no one seems to like you, if you cannot get a job to save your life, go to WalMart, they will be more than glad to make you part of their team.. If you are in search for cheap prices, convenience and you require no more than a pleasant person to help you, WalMart is not the place to be.. Go to Target. They might not be the smiliest bunch but at least they're trained to be professional and helpful, when needed.

No offense to the slave labor, but I do not do giant box stores, especially ones like Walmart that have destroyed independent businesses and small towns all across America..and I never will. Can you say "boycott?"
Kmart junkie 02/15/2006
Back of employee vest reads:How can we help you? My answer: The employees can stop giving me the attitudes The employees can stop screaming at people They should have clothes that you can wear for more than one day The food they sell shouldnt be so old that it makes your kids and you sick Sell electronics that dont blow out the electricity threw your house clean that stupid store at least once every decade Teach your employees to have some respect for the customer Remember that even if there mathmatically, gramatically,or imoraly in-correct the customer is always right! ALL WALMART CUSTOMERS:TAKE YOUR BUISNESS ELSE WEAR
lmichelen 02/06/2006
The store organization is awful. I have never been able to easily locate what I am looking for and have to waste time only to find out they are out of the particular item I want. The merchandise is sub-quality. But the worst part is that they destroy small businesses, send work overseas and hire mostly part-time employees so that they do not have to provide benefits and then do not pay them well. Add to this that they represent 8% of the GNP and you have what amounts to a small dictatorship! Wake up America! Saving a dollar here or there will wind up costing you everything! Support your small businesses instead!

Geeez give the associates of Wal-Mart a break!!! I am a 15 yr associate, when I go into a wal-mart I also am not seeing alot of smiling faces. These workers are under alot of stress most of the time. They are hearing what most of you are complaining about everyday but there is just nothing the workers can do about it. If you will notice when in a wal-mart you will never see managment on the salesfloor this is because they don't care what a customer or an associate thinks, all they care about is the almighty dollar. Wal-Mart workers are just ordinary everyday people that are trying to make a living at a terrible job where they are treated very poorly. The next time you are in a wal-mart and a associate is in your way with a buggy or the lines are long ask to speak to managment write a letter to the president of the company. Please don't blame it on the workers, they probably don't like the conditions that the store is in either but unless the consumers speak out the lines will remain long, because of being understaffed to cut payroll down so there will be a big bonus in the pockets of our almighty managment. Sometimes a wal-mart associate needs a smile and a pleasant person to make them have a better day. If the people who are complaining about shopping there think it's a bad experience, try to imagine working there!!! Smiles are free.
citrusguy 01/10/2006
My problems with Wal-Mart are mostly on the corporate and management levels. I sympathize with the associates. They have to put up with a whole lot of crap. Plus, I've never really had a bad experience with customer service. The one bad thing is the checkout. Nearly every time I've been in there they have only a few registers open out of abou fifty total. People are often in long lines all around that area. It takes a really long time to check out, plus it makes it hard to move around the store as people are all standing in line in the main aisle. Ditto to the other comments about Wal-Mart destroying or severely damaging local economies. Not only that, but they have a tend to leave ghost stores everywhere. A city near mine has two Wal-mart ghosts. My city has one. They're uglier than operational Wal-Marts, and it usually destroys other stores in the shopping center when Wal-Mart leaves. It's so ugly having all these run-down shopping centers all over the place. And of course, the newer Wal-Mart supercenters are usually built on cheap farm land. I live in a college town. When the new Wal-Mart opened a few years ago, developers started building huge apartment complexes around the store, apparently so students could just cross the street to go Wal-mart shopping. That area of town used to be quite beautiful, with farmland and wooded areas. Now, about a square mile surrounding the Wal-mart is one of the dirtiest and cluttered areas of town, plus the traffic is terrible.
NikkiMcKibbin 01/05/2006
Not perfect, but they atleast grasp the concept of customer service better than Target. Good prices too, and the food is surprisingly good.
divo15 01/04/2006
Walmart does sell cheap, but their products often aren't worth a dime. Every electronic item i've bought has broken within a year. They don't hire people who can help you if you have questions. They destroy local economies sucking money out of towns and cities, returning very little money.
decalod85 11/30/2005
Hate Wal-Mart, not because it is fashionable, but because they pay people so little that they have to apply for welfare. This is a drain on our tax dollars. Also, our local WallyMart is often dirty.
XxAngiexX 11/29/2005
I don't have a Wal-mart close to my home but if I did I wouldn't be going there. I've been in Wal-mart in Florida which was very disorganized and had very poor service.
KmartShopper 11/28/2005
Wow it's too bad I can't give them lower than a 1. Ok my family adn I have been going to department stores in New Jersey for years. Ames, Caldor, Bradlees, Jamesway, K-mart were all great. Until Wal-Mart came and started building ugly buildings in areas that couldnt fit them. Now we have way to much traffic and it takes me 3 times as long to get where i wanna go. Plus all the good department stores are gone except for K-mart. At least we still have that because I will never set foot in a Wal-mart store.
orlandomaniac 11/26/2005
Im definetly not a Wal Mart person. I would never spend my money on a monopolistic business that sells low quality non-American products in a crowded and unproffesional enviornment. My favorite discount chain is Target and thats what I always stick with.

35 checkout lanes, 3 checkers. 50 people in line with full baskets. and forget about asking for help finding anything. if you do manage to find an employee, be prepared for a 'what the fu-- do you want?' attitude. even the managers, none of them know how to do anything outside of their department. i recently got my oil changed there. it took the managers over an hour to figure out where the key was to get my paper work, then they took another half hour to figure out which barcode they were supposed to scan. i guess you get what you pay for. I'm changing my own oil from now on.

I am a walmart associate, I have read many, many posts on how bad people thinks walmart is... Please let me tell you, it isn't as bad as people make it out to be.. A lot of the ones who complain about working at walmart, are these little teenagers, who think they can just sit around and do nothing. The sales floor associates jobs are hard work. We donot just straighten the merchandise and then wait for a customer to ask us for help.. NO we stock our shelves, we pull freight to the floors, we help unload trucks, we cover other departments.. It never fails when an associate needs to climb the ladders to put merchandise on the top shelves, some ridiculous customer will just have to come down that aisle, knock up against the ladder. Or for some reason the customers can't put things back on the shelves where they belong, I had a mother last week come in and was tearing open the package on a Batman toy, she wanted to make sure it wasn't broke, before she bought. By the time she got through destroying the package she had broken the entire thing.. I told her she better never let me catch her in my department again opening products.. Then there are parent who let their kids crap in the floor, and we associates have to clean it up. What about the teenagers who come to walmart for their make out sessions. Then there are the idiots who feel the need to play ball in the middle of the store or ride bicycles all over the store... you are putting other customers in danger. This is the reason walmart stores are cluttered and dirty looking, not because of the emloyees, but because of the customers. Walmart associates have to put up with a lot of ridiculous things from customers, sometime you get us on a bad day.. sometimes you don't. As far as management is concerned,, as long as you come in and do what is expected of you for the days work, no one bothers you. If it is a project that you feel you will need help with, we tell our management and they make sure we have the help we need. They never ask for more than they know we will be able to accomplish for the day. the only thing they ask of us. is to make sure we leave no buggies full of merchandise on the floor when we leave at night.... So, if you think walmart is so bad, think again... the customers are the problem..

With a Cost Cutters and a Kmart down the street, theres no reason for me ever to set foot in this hellhole again! Their employees are rude, store is messy, and quality sucks. If you appreciate decent customer service, then you won't shop here.

Quantity not quality. Buy lots of cheap stuff at wal mart and toss it out evey year. look at what things really cost. Plus the amount of bloated moonfaced ignoramuses is over the top whiskey-tango
BowChikaWowWow 10/24/2005
Great store with cheap prices! the one problem is that alot of stuff they get once and then never get back but its still cheap and the quality of there stuff isnt cheap if you havnt noticed the stuff you buy there is the same brand as if you bought it at the mall the same brand so its not lesser quality the stuff is cheaper because they order in masser quanitys and like if you buy some 50 cent gadjet obviously its not gona be that great its not because its form walmart

There was a clerk at the Walmart near me that was VERY rude to me--I took a floppy disc in and had pictures printed off it--this particular clerk wa extremely rude to me as some of the photos had someones name on them--well, she confiscated all but 3--really pissed me off!! I won't be doing any picture business with that particular store!! I'm still pissed off about it--a local drug store printed those photos for me--no problem!!!!!
kittey257 10/14/2005
Wal-Mart stuff is cheap because it's not worth anything. If you buy something from there, you will probably have to go back and buy it again several times after it breaks. They force companies to lower the quality of their products so they can sell them there. These same companies have to decrease production of their higher quality products, meaning we lose them in all stores, not just Wal-Mart. They have also put several companies out of business because they couldn't afford to make products as cheap as Wal-Mart demanded. Unlike Wal-Mart, some of these companies actually have to pay their workers. In many small towns, especially in the South, Wal-Mart has run the local businesses out and has gained local monopolies in those towns. No new business will ever be able to compete with Wal-Mart in these towns until Wal-Mart is weakened nationally or there is government action. Most of the things you buy from Wal-Mart are from China, and we're made by Americans before Wal-Mart sped up the moving of jobs from the U.S. to China. They were often made in sweatshop conditions for unfair payment. When a Wal-Mart moves into a town, because of the business it shuts down, it actually causes more jobs to be lost than gained. And the old jobs were usually better and paid better than the new Wal-Mart jobs. Wal-Mart then forces its employees to get health care from tax moeney instead of providing it for them like most other companies do. Wal-Marts often leave towns before the city is able to gain from sales and property taxes. When a Wal-Mart leaves a town, the town is left with nothing and people are forced to go to another town for everything. Often to a Wal-Mart in another town that continues to drain money from the local economy. Wal-Mart also censors CDs and magazines and is generally against free expression. It sees nothing wrong with blocking access to these products for people who live in the towns that only have Wal-Marts. It also sees nothing wrong with forcing people to make edited CDs that can't deliver their messages. Wal-Mart is hostile to the environment, discriminates against female employees, locks up employees overnight, builds an unattractive store that ruins the appearance of the areas around it, and has no problem using any hostile and unfair method to drive out all competition. Wal-Mart is not only threatening local businesses, but even large corporations and national chains such as Safeway, Albertson's, Toys 'R' Us, Kmart, and JCPenney. If not even they can stand up to Wal-Mart, no one can. Competition has to be maintained, when one company gains too many advantages competition begins to decrease. In the towns that have Wal-Mart and no other store, the market economy is already limited since no new businesses can move in. In the future, it may be like this in much of the nation. Many people can only shop at Wal-Mart (or not even that) because Wal-Mart has taken away their employment. Save America. Please don't shop at Wal-Mart.
sfalconer 10/13/2005
The local one is to small and most of the freaks hang out there. Prices are ok but some stuff is hard to find and if you need help forget about it.

To Magellan, I kinda smirk when you talk about Wal-Marts strategy and efficency, I actually work at a supercenter i am an overnight reciecving associate, The place is actually almost ran like a military, we have our own jargon, managment has walkie talkies for communication, he work fast and we are trained well, and we are trained to love the place and think on a corporate level, here is an example; I was working on my aisle when i spilled some soda, a member of my management was there i asked her to get maintence over here to take care of the spill she msged the CSM (Customer Service Manager) to page maintence, They did and maintence was there at the spil in like seconds, its quite impressive how its ran, its so perfect its sickening, We even have an ICS team (Inventory Control Specialist)..... However there are plenty of bad things i can tell you about wal-mart but that mainly ties into the politics that come from working for a 500 billion doller giant.
