I bought a camcorder from there for my sons birthday party and i couldn't get it to work. it was samsun dvd camcorder so i thought maybe i just don't know how to use it so i put it away. then a week later i tried it again and had others try to see if they could get it to work (no one could)so i said i'll bring it back on the weekend but i work 7 days a week so its hard to get out there but anyway i went back on the third week and told them the problem and they said that they couldn't do anything for me because you only have 14 days to bring any electronic back and after that no returns. i just couldn't understand how a big place like circuit city can have a 14day policy and the camcorder was never working so now i'm stuck with a defective camcorder and $300 down the drain. i would never ever buy anything from them again and im a small business owner and will let all my customers know to beware of those crooks with 14days on defected items and no exchange crap they sell! oh yea big store with no help and very long lines with one cashier

BEWARE of buying product from Circuit City! I ordered an ipod for my wife's birthday. The product did not arrive on the scheduled delivery date so I tracked it through UPS. The tracking information read: Merchandise is missing. UPS will notify the sender with additional details. All merchandise missing, empty carton discarded. UPS will notify the sender with details of the damage. I called the 1-800 customer service line and they said I would have to wait until UPS returned the damaged merchandise before I would receive credit on my card and it would to 7 to 14 days. I explained the tracking information to her and told her she would be waiting a long time for the product because the merchadise was missing and carton had been discarded. She ran the tracking number and told me I would receive credit in 3 to 5 buisness days. It didn't happen. I called again and was told the order had not been cancelled and it would be 3 to 5 days before I received my refund. It didn't happen. I called again and a lady named Rose said there was not a case number filed and it would be 7 to 14 days before I would receive my refund. I asked to speak to a manager and Rose told me none were available, I asked for a number to the corporate office and Rose told me they didn't have a number for the corporate office. I refused to hang up until I talked to a manager or got a number to corporate, she tried giving me the customer service number again. I stayed on the line for 40 min. with her repeatedly asking me if she could help me with anything else and my response was, yes, please let me talk to a manager or give me a number to the corporate office. She finally hung up and I still do not have my money! BUY FROM CIRCUIT CITY IF YOU WANT TO DONATE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!!!

I just bought a laptop from them and they lied about work done to my laptop. For $89.99 they did not do any optimization and other enhancement work as stated on their brochure, and they don't refund any of that fee even if you have to return the laptop because is defective and they don't have another unit in stock. You can't reach anyone at the store because the phone is not answered and the 800 number is handled by people that can not speak proper English or do not know anything. What a horrible company and I am so sorry I bought computers from them before. I just got ripped off by Circuit City for over $160.00 and I do not have anything to show for it. Circuit City looks like a company that is going out of business. They don't care about their customers, even loyal ones...

I cannot even rate this company their customer service is so poor, but I had to do one star to be able to post! My laptop was damaged, I sent it off to be repaired and it came back with another issue. I took it to the store, they kept it and said they would fix it, telling me it was probably a fan. SO basically after 4 weeks with my laptop they had not fixed it, never called me with a status, returned my calls and told my husband he could not speak with a manager when he requested one. At that point I had had enough, told them they would not be done dealing with me that day until things were resolved. So they gave me a new laptop. Now, I would have left it alone, but they made me purchase a new protection plan for the new laptop. Sounded okay, they were going to prorate and refund the previous protection plan. Well, now we are at 7 weeks. I have spoken to managers 3 times at the store in Acworth, Georgia. They never call me back with a resolution. After another 45 minutes on the phone today, I learned that they should have just moved the new laptop to the old protection plan. I wouldn't get any refund on the old plan because I used it, but it is still a valid contract and usable as long as I don't cancel it. They didn't need me to buy a new plan. PLUS it should have all been automatic. I have been on the phone at least an hour a week since July dealing with these people. Now I have to go into the store and ask for a refund on my previous plan. Awful customer service, not knowlegable about their policies. A nightmare to deal with. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. Because they take it whether or not you need to purchase the item!

Worst customer service ever! I had a ridiculous experience using their 24-minute in store pickup so be aware. The rules say that if your online order is not ready 24 minutes after the confirmation time stamp for pickup in their stores you should receive a $24 gift card. Apparently the stores don't know that or they made their own set of rules saying that you get a gift card if you wait for longer than 24 minutes since you stepped in the store. This is ridiculous! It happened to me today @ this store: 7153 Amador Plaza Road, Dublin CA. First after I got there they went to prepare the order and they came back 5 minutes later. When requesting my gift card since the order was not on time they gave me the stupid argument that it is 24 minutes since I walked in the store. I showed them the receipt from the website stating that the order needs to be ready 24 minutes after the time stamp and they said that's not true! Scam artists! They came up with all kind of offers to get you in the store and then you get screwed. Worthless to say that I had the worst buying experience ever when their people lied in front of my eyes changing the rules of the game.

Buyers beware!!! Dectur Illinois! 1 Star because 0 is not an option. I will say the store personnel were pleasant but there were several problems in my purchase. Firedog is a joke. They hire independent contractors and have NO control over there service. They were late to the appointment (4 hours) and did not have my equipment when they arrived. He complained non stop and put me off for a week. When I called to report the poor service Circuit City ignored my repeated calls and to this day I have not heard from them. They have my money but, I still do not have my service. The firedog tech did call me and proceeded to drop the F bomb numerous times and threaten me as well. So far that is the only call in 2 weeks that I have received. There is much more that I will not go into but, you can email me with questions if you like. (ramay@jwbank.net) I am concerned that a representative of Circuit City who has my personal information and address can threaten and curse me and no one in Circuit City's corporate office seems to care. I am sure if my house ends up vandalized or burnt down it will just be a coincidence that it happened. It has been a very bad experience. BUYERS BEWARE!!!

Circuit City's latest scam - I ordered a LCD TV and paid extra for "3 day express" shipping. Was told it would arrive 2-3 days before a planned wedding event where it was to be used. The shipping was "downgraded" to standard by some employee at Circuit City and as result was shipped Fedex ground. Arrived a week too late. I have been told I have to "apply for a refund" of the excess shipping charges and was told by the customer service rep that this "happens a lot". If you were overcharged on shipping, contact the Federal Trade Commission - they are investigating this scam by Circuit City.

Worst customer service ever. They definitely do not care about their customers and aren't concerned about solving any problems. I purchased a car stereo there along with the free installation service. During the installation, the tech guy forgot to unplug the battery (how do i know? because the clock in the car is not off set) and broke my dashboard lightbulb during the stereo installation. Must've been a power surge because it's a standard procedure to unplug the battery before you mess with auto electronics. The customer service representatives and the manager would not admit it was their fault and said all electronics in the car are connected and therefore it's not possible to prove that they should be responsible. It's true that I cannot prove it, but their attitude just tells me that they only wanted to get rid of the responsiblity, not to communicate with their customer. This case is still going in better business bureau, but I doubt anything will happen because Circuit City has been very rude in their email and obviously still does not want to claim any responsibility.

Dont shop circuit city!!! They dont stand behind their product or their own sales I bought a Jvc hard drive camcorder at christmas C.C. was running a special if you purchased camera and burner at the same time there was a 100.00 rebate so that was the deciding factor between Jvc and sony we sent everything in and heard nothing so 3 months later I called C.C. and they could pull up the fact that I had purchased all during the rebate time frame then gave me a # to call I did they said they never got my info but too could also see where I bought it but there was nothing they could do so I called Jvc and they too could see where I had done everything I was suppose to do But told me I had to call the rebate center who again told me they didnt get my rebate info so I called C.C. to see if the would call jvc and help me get what was rightfully mine BUT..... again nothing everybody keeps teling me to call someone else they all agree I bought all and during the time of a rebate but nobody wants to give me my rebate Its principle for e now hopefully this will help somene else beware of False promises made by Circuit City and Jvc Buy from Best buy, staples, walmart sams or even the inernet But dont buy from jvc or circuit city if you expect Customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They take forever to get new products on the shelf. On their website there is an option to send you an email when the product you are interested in is available at a nearby location. Last week I was trying to buy Beyond the Sword, the new expansion pack for Civilization IV, but even though it was after the release date, it was hard to find a store that actually had it on the shelf. So I filled out the form on Circuit City's website, and I just got an email today saying that the game had come in. Just a little on the slow side, I bought the game at Game Stop eight days ago.

I should have listened to the bad reviews here. But CC was so conveniently close I had to give it a shot. Getting my car stereo and four speakers turned out to be more complicated than a space shuttle re-entry. Installation couldn't be finished because they didn't have a 'part' (so I had no car stereo for a week) and they would call me when the part came (Sure) Still, you can minimize the damage. CC employees are glue-sniffing high schoolers or college kids burning time- so I got to know the names of two guys in the Audio department- called them a week later (knowing they'd never call me) and was very polite and firm- things worked out. (Getting mad wouldn't help the situation.) CC is a gamble at best- if you buy there, get the name of the person who helped you and be nice. If the glue-sniffer thinks you're just another asswipe customer, you'll wind up having a worse experience. Not to say this is a good way to do business. . .

terrible service.. i bought a canon rebel xti body online, as it was not available in store.. paid up for the camera, cost me over USD$800 including tax.. and the next day i received an email saying that my order was not approved.. i ring circuit city up with the 1800 number and was told by the customer service assistant that the tel number that i gave them was different from the one that i gave to the bank. i went online to check my bank history and saw that the $800 was being held, meaning i couldnt use it. as it was under pending.. i went to the bank and verify with them regarding the tel number and indeed it was the right one that i gave to circuit city.. obviously there was something wrong somewhere.. i then drove down to the nearest circuit city and told them what happened and the frontdesk assistant at the customer service told me that circuit city did not received any $ from the bank and they told me that the bank is holding my money. i then drove down to the bank and wanted an explaination from then and while on the way there, a guy from the VISA company ring me up and ask if i did made a purchase and i said yes.. the bank gave me a printed copy of the statement and said that it was circuit city that has not complete the procedure of completing my order. then i wasted about 2hr at the circuit city the 2nd time in a day, telling them that they are the one that is holding my $ and after the long wait, they did not give me a satisfied answer. the frontdesk assistant made several calls to check abt my order and gave me some unconfirm solution.. asking me to re-order the camera again through their hotline instead of doin it online. i asked about my $ and she told me yes, they are the one holding the $ and she has already been told that they had refunded me. i ask how long it would take for the $ to go back to my account and again she couldnt give me an answer.. the question is, if they did had my $, then why did they reject my order and since they have already collected the $, then why did they not want to complete the transcation. my vacation is juz less than a week away and i havent got any extra to made another purchase again without receiving back the $800 that i had paid..IT IS THE WORST SERVICE EVER.. THEY DONT KNOW WHAT IS GOIN ON AND GAVE ME NO ANSWERS.. I WILL DEFINATELY NOT VISIT CIRCUIT CITY AGAIN!!!

wow so many negative comments or could it just be negative customers. people first off know what you are buying and what the terms are to it this goes for circuit city, best buy, and any other retail store. if there is a restocking fee it lists it right on the reciept. if your scared their might be one ask for gods sake. i have seen some of you standing in line in front of me when im trying to buy something complaining about this and that you are all rediculous. also as for circuit city cutting jobs. if you would all stop hanging out at the local retail store sucking up the knowledge you need to make and informed decision then going home and buying it from some website or e-bay, then wondering why no one will help you next time or why your 17 year old neighbor got let go you all make me sick. i have never gotten anything bet amazing service from circuit city and thats final.

I just wanted to let you know what it's like to be employed by Circuit City. I have been with the company a week now. This morning, I came in to work and I am told by the "store manager" that I'm going to be up at the customer service desk by myself today. I was shocked because I have not been trained on how to do everything yet. My knowledge is very limited about customer service and their computer system is very complicated. So the manager (I'm going to call him Dick), gave me his exptension and told me that if I had any problems I was to contact him. Well after about the fifth time I called him he said to me, "This is getting a bit awkward. You can't keep calling me like this" and HUNG UP on me. YES HE HUNG UP! I didn't know how to take care of that customer and luckily, someone else passed by that did know what to do so the problem got taken care of. Today, I was screamed at many times and was frustrated to tears at the end of this long, long day. So trust me customers, I understand your frustration. The frustration is on both ends when you come into the store to get help. Yes, I know what you're thinking. Get another job. Let me tell you something about that. I have a college degree but in the town I live right now, it is very hard to get a job. All the good ones are very hard to get. So then I land myself a "job" at Circuit City and I'm thinking, "This isn't so bad. I've bought things from them before and I never had a problem. The pay isn't too bad either. Besides, I should just feel lucky to even have a job cause it took me 6 months to find this one." And then, I look around and all I see is teenagers rolling their eyes and hanging out in the back room. Everyone in the store (except for a few of the managers) is part-time and they're all making minimum wage. Remember that the next time you come in. Even those of us that do care and want to help the customer cannot because they have not been trained and don't the tools they need to do their job. Thanks for listening.

Never, ever buy from Circuit City. The cheated me out of $400. I returned a camera, and they had to order another one. After weeks of following for the new camera, they told me I had already picked it up. I had not. Complaints to the Better Business Bureau did no good. They owe me the money. They are crooks. If this review can keep others from being cheated, then I will be happy.

What bothers me on this and all other forums is that people have no clue about customer protection laws. Here is a paragraph from it" "A merchant may have any policy it chooses, including merchandise-credit only, short time limits on returns, or "all sales final" (except for defective merchandise; a seller must repair or replace defective items, or refund the consumer the purchase price of these), but that policy must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed before the transaction is completed. Generally, merchants meet this requirement by posting a sign at or near the point of sale." So, what do you have to do? 1. Document whatever is not working with the product you purchased. Photos are helpful. 2. Return it within the time frame allowed by the seller. If they do not want to give you a full refund, do not argue, you cannot expect more from an employee or "store manager" who probably hasn't even finished high school. Take the refund they give you. 3. You have 2 choices now, either fill a complaint with General Attorney (it takes about 1 month to be resolved) or go to Small Claims Court (the fee is small ~$20 which will be refunded by the merchant if you win the case, and you will). 2 months ago I purchased a computer, a digital camera and a plasma TV from Circuit City. The Circuit City guys who made the delivery broke the rear TV case; computer died 3 days after powering it up and digital camera was showing 2 hairlines on the pictures. So, I would of been short ~$750 if I wanted to return them to the store. Which I did, and after filing a report with Small Claims Court I got the rest of the money back from Circuit City without even having to appear in front of the Judge. 10 days after petitions have been submitted to both parties, the store manager called me to refund me the difference and they gave me $250 gift card as compensation (which ended up at Salvation Army). In conclusion, know your rights and do not be afraid!

HORRIBLE COMPANY! HORRIBLE PEOPLE! Stay away. I bought a computer for $1700. I spent two miserable weeks trying to get the flippin thing to work. Hours and hours on the phone with HP Support..."You need to do a recovery"...fine...back up everything, recover, reconfigure...still didn't work. "Oh you need to do a recovery." Did that. Do it again. etc. So I packed it all up and drove the 2 hours back to Circuit City. THIS DOESN'T WORK!! They smiled and said I would have to pay a 15% restocking fee OR I could buy another one. Helllooooo, after 2 weeks of hell, do you really think I want to do that again??? It is the policy. THEY WERE HORRIBLE. The only way I could get my money back was if I bought another computer. I was about to go on vacation and so didn't want to buy another computer that might not work as I couldn't return it by 14 days. Didn't matter. My choice...15% of $1700 or buy a new one. Needless to say I will never ever ever do business with them again. I can understand and accept a restocking fee - but nearly $250 is just not right, not fair, not resonable. Not when the product is defective. Not nice people.

Buyer Beware - Circuit City's Advantage Plan Plus - (Accidental Damage) on laptops require you mail it in a return box. Caveat is any 'cosmetic damage', i.e., cracked plastic from you to outsourced repair facility is not covered unless box is visibly damaged. Spent over an hour on phone today with a rep that escalated to a supervisor (long hold times) who held the line on this. A $3 part wasn't worth the trouble or bad will - should have fixed it to begin with. Now my laptop is enroute returned to me unfixed the second go around and all I'm thinking is what a lousy resolution to a simple problem. Keep up the excellent customer service Circuit City and we'll soon all be reading about your demise.

Customer service through the 800 number and the in-store manager in Fayetteville, NC SUCKS! The order we placed was received on June 20, 2007. After the box was opened, we noted several broken parts and dents in the side of the beverage cooler. I immediately called and was told that they would be expediting another to us and that we would receive a phone call within 72 hours as to how to return the damaged one. On June 25 I called to check the status of shipment. THEN I was told that they would not ship the new one until they had received the damaged one in their warehouse and examined it. And that Fed Ex would pick it up the damaged on Wednesday. (This is on a Monday.) On Tuesday we got an email saying we would be responsible for paying shipping to send it back, I called them again to verify. Yes, I had to pay for shipping but once they got it back and verified the damage, they probably would refund those shipping charges. You lied to me once, why should I believe you now! Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. So I drove it to the Fayetteville office. The "manager" there needs to take a class in customer service and manners. As angry as I was, I remained calm. She acted like a b**ch.

I'd like to share with you my today's customer service experience at CircuitCity. I bought an Acer laptop a few days ago. It had a problem with wi-fi connectivity since the very beginning. I decided to return it. I got to the store at around 8:20 pm today. It took the store people some 40 minutes to get me through the whole process. Endless minutes while waiting for the tech to show up. Then the tech was playing with the laptop to see if the wi-fi is really going to fail. Some 5-7 minutes later he said the laptop is OK, no return possible. My adrenaline got pretty high at that point. I know what I saw when I was using that device at home. Lucky me that **** device failed next minute or so. Then they started deciding whether or not to charge me the 15% restocking fee. Nice. After about 3 phone calls the lady decided not to charge me the fee. Then she gave me $705.xx instead of $806.xx Well, I asked where's the rest of my money. She said "you still have the printer". Obviously there is a printer (some $90) on the receipt. I just never received the printer. I was told that the printer will be sent to me after I send the rebate out. So there was another number of phone calls regarding what to do about the "missing" printer. To make long story short, I got my money at around 9 pm. I go to see what other computer I could buy. Surprisingly I found a nice IBM laptop. Guess what ... they sent me home saying it is already past 9pm (closing hour). I must tell you I felt like a beggar. Maybe a bit like a little child who's just being sent to go to sleep. I am scared to go back to shop at CicuitCity for I could pick another junk. I wouldn't have the courage to go through the whole process again.

Dont ever buy from these crooks. Circuit city is all about scamming their customers. 3 weeks ago i purchased a toshiba A135-s4467 laptop from the bloomington MN. I was delivered an A135-s4427 i brought it back to the St Cloud MN location they told me i cant return it here for the other one evan though i had my receipt which im sure is bs. I asked why you can buy something at wal-mart in New York and return it in Los Angeles but you cant return something at curcuit city 50 miles from where you purchase it. he said different store policy. so i went back to Bloomington and they said they cant return it because it says A135-s4427 on my receipt thats what i bought i said you guys are the one who made the mistake. well they dont care and i got screwed out of the computer i wanted. i will never shop there again. My father also had troubles geting his big screen tv fix after buying a 600 dollar waranty that "covers everything" well the sure run a great company huh. is there anything illegal about any of this if a lawyer could get back to me it would be great

I purchased a cable splitter from this store about 4 weeks ago and installed it a few days later. I connected my new T.V. and digital cable box/recorder but began having trouble with the recorder and the picture quality was not up to par. When I called the cable company and he saw what I hooked up, he immediately knew that the cable splitter was the problem. He hooked it up right. When I tried to take the splitter back to the store they refused to refund my purchase or even to give me store credit because I did not have original packaging. Horrible customer service. I will never shop at this store again and I recommend that no one else does either. This is the second problem I have had with this store. On another occasion they sold me the wrong digital optical cable. I even asked the guy twice if it was the right cable and called when I could not attach it to my PS2. When I finally realized it was the wrong cable and took it back to the store, the guy was on the phone, barely looked up at me and refunded my purchase. I will never shop at this store again as long as I live.

DO NOT GET THE CIRCUIT CITY CREDIT CARD!! They made a mistake on my credit card & keep telling me they are going to fix it and they never do. Circuit City itself & their corporate office has the worst customer service EVER!! They just don't care. I have been dealing with this for months. It was their fault & they keep telling me to call all these different numbers & nobody ever helps

Same as many other posts, I bought a big screen TV with an extened warrenty. Less than a year later there is a problem with the TV, and after 10 weeks and many phone calls, Circuit City has still not been able to get anyone out to service the TV. They are apathetic, and simply farm the service calls out to local service companies who don't reposnd, and Circut City does not return phone calls or follow up. Circuit City feels no obligation to provide the service that they have taken money for from their warrenty, they simply stonewall until you give up. I will never shop there again.

I would not give them a rating at all! Their customer service protectionp plans are a joke. I bought a 56" TV in December and it is need of repair and I am still waiting after 2 weeks! They think this is ok. They only have 1 technican for the surrounding stores in my area. There are at least 7 stores in my area.

I will never again buy anything from Circuit City Circuit City to cut more than 3,500 jobs 9:52 AM CDT 10:35 AM CDT on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 Associated Press RICHMOND, Va. Circuit City Stores Inc. said Wednesday it plans to cut costs by laying off about 3,400 store workers and hiring lower-paid employees to replace them, and by trimming about 130 corporate jobs. Its shares rose 3 percent in morning trading. Circuit City, the nation's No. 2 consumer electronics retailer behind Best Buy Co. Inc., the store workers being laid off were earning "well above the market-based salary range for their role." They will be replaced with employees who will be paid at the current market range, the company said in a news release. "We are taking a number of aggressive actions to improve our cost and expense structure, which will better position us for improved and sustainable returns in today's marketplace," Philip J. Schoonover, Circuit City's chief executive, said in a statement. The Richmond-based company also plans to outsource its information-technology infrastructure operations to International Business Machines Corp., a move that is expected to cut IT expenses by more than 16 percent. About 50 of Circuit City's IT workers will move to jobs with IBM and remain on the Circuit City contract. The other 80 corporate positions will be cut.

BUYER BEWARE. Do not buy the City Advantage Plan for Ipods or other MP3s. They will NEVER give you a gift certificate for your item. Instead they will replace your piece with a refurbished or returned MP3. Wonder where returned items go...they go back to you once you try to use your City DISADVANTAGE plan. Plus, the customer service is the worse I've ever seen. It took me more than a month to get my unit replaced. I'll never buy anything from them again.

bought samsung 61in TV for over $3500 at Circuit city WEbster TX store in late June 2007. Jan 2007 the TV does not work. you turn it on, it flickers, then turns itself off. I bought the $500 "extended warranty" from Circuit City. Here it is 10 days later, still no TV, no one to repair, no refund, no store credit. I've made over 22 calls in 10days, only to be told by Circuit City Customer Service "there's no one in your area authorized to work on Samsung, we'll call you back in 48hrs and refer this to a caes manager at our corporate office." Lies. No one has contacted me. I will never shop at Circuit City in Webster Texas again. If you google them as "Circuit City refunds or warranty"........you'll see tons of complaints. I"m surprised the Federal Trade Commission hasn't gotten involved in the fraud that Circuit City commits. thank you for listening and "buyer beware" of Circuit City in Texas.

I Purchased a notebook from Circuit City with the "famous" advantage plan. The notebook has been giving me numerous problems, received it broken after it was sent in for repair, amd the advantage plan does not cover 99% of the things they cliam it does when they are selling it to you. I was told that if I had a problem I could take the notebook to the store and if they cannot fix it, they would replace it. That was a lie. The agents on the phone are not helpful. The company they use to do repairs does not seem to know hwta they are doing, and you cannotget anyone to help you. My notebook has now officially crahsed after been sent in 6 times for repairs. I now consider the $1400 I spent at circuit city a lsot and will not make any other purchases there and will recommend the same to my friends and family. The advantage plan they are selling is a waste of time and money and the staff does not seem to be knowledgable about the products they are selling, and teh customer service agents seems to careless. Terrible service, inferior products. I guess I gave thema donation in cash when I bought that notebook from them.

I cannot share enough how disappointed I was in the Non Service from Circuit City. I puchased equipment, had it installed by Circuit City, it was installed incorrectly and Circuit city would not back their own service. Biggest Run around and red Tape.. I would highly suggest shopping elsewhere,, not worth the few dollars you saved initially but will loose moreso in the end.....

Ordered 23Nov2006, never received the product, Circuit City customer service said they would refund my money on 18Dec2006. As of 30Dec2006 I still do not have the product or refund. To me this is theft, they have taken my money, did not give the product promised in excahange for my money, and has been giving me the run around since. If i did this, the Sheriff's department would be at my door serving me small claims court papers. On top of it all my wife went to return a game bought in store and the clerk could not find it in their system. Even though my wife had the reciept and the game with their price sticker on it. Then the clerk had the nerve to suggest that my wife stole the game and was trying manipulate the Circuit City system. My complaint against Circuit City is now personal.

My wife purchased a widescreen LCD monitor on Dec. 17th for my Christmas gift. I connected it to my PC and found that I would need to purchase a new video card. We went to Circuit City (Concord Mills, NC) to return the monitor, but they relentlessly refused to waive the 15% restocking fee ($60). We were unaware of the policy, but it actually is posted: 1. Below the cash register (where one cannot see it since the cashier is blocking it) 2. On the back of the receipt (which can only be viewed after the purchase) and 3. At the return counter. The worst part of it all is that they said that all the major stores (specifically naming Best Buy) have the same policy. I went to Best Buy later that same day (Dec 26th) to purchase a video card. I found that their restocking fee list does not include monitors. I also verified with the salesperson at Best Buy that they would accept the return of an opened monitor without any restocking fee. Either Circuit City was misinformed about their competitions' policies or they were lying (as they implied my wife was when she stated that she was unaware of the restocking fee). Obviously, I will never return to any store of theirs. If someone starts a class action lawsuit, please add my name to it.

Made a purchase at CircuitCity.com at November 24th. I cancelled the order the same day. I received a cancellation confirmation, which stated, that my credit card would not be charged. Well was that a big lie. My credit card was charged the same day. At my first phone call to customer service, I was lied to a second time, when a rep told me, that I was issued a refund. No refund could be found! Several phone calls and a month later I still didn't get that money back. My suggestion: SKIP CIRCUIT CITY! Anybody has an idea, how to get the money back?

The store does not help on returns with extended warranties, the customer service line does not answer the phone (held for 1 hour, 47 minutes - then 1 hour 12 minutes two days last week - today 1 hour 9 minutes so far.) Still no answer. I used to work for them about 12 years ago as an ACE products manager, and I did love it back then. We were able to replace defective products with extended warranties in store and ship the defects to the product center. It made for happy customers, was efficient, and was at least as cost effective. I suppose they shipped all customer service to India to save money. They will not be getting my business in the future. I'd rather shop at Walmart and that's not saying much....

They look like a big scam to me. They are NOT cheap and so everyone would expect a certain minimal standards maintained. My ordeal with Circuit City started when I ordered a videocam online through Shop.com. As soon as the order confirmation mail arrived, I realized that I had ordered the wrong model so went ahead and cancelled my order. By then like a starved scavanger, CC had already posted the charge on my card! How can an established relailer do this without having shipped the order. I find it very funny that one of the mails had even said that my card will not be charged! These guys are totally screwed up wrecks! On their own website CC maintains a policy of 'reviewing' customer feedback before publishing them.. what a scam again! I would just stay clear from them for life now on...

I bought an iPod on-line and cancelled the order within 24 hours. I recieved an e-mail stating that my order had been cancelled and MY ACCOUNT HAD NOT BEEN CHARGED. Believing what I was told, I purchased an iPod from the Apple store. Three days later I discover circuit city had taken the money out of my account. It is now 8 days since I was told they would not take my money and 5 days since they did it and the money is still not back in my account. I finally talked with someone yesterday and today who was supposed to be a supervisor and I faxed her a copy of the e-mail. Today she told me some committe has to review the situation to see what to do and I may hear something by Monday, but it may take another 3-5 business days. I have the corporate phone number to call, but if anyone knows the "e-suite" number eluded to below, please post it here. circuit city's mistake has cost me overdraft charges and a lot of mental anguish!!!

Circuit City did not have to product I ordered online in stock. I was very angry at first... then without any hesitation, the manager gave me a better product for a smaller price. This was the best experience I have had in an electronics store. Customer service there is great!

Never go to Circuit City. I bought a plasma tv from the store in Sunnyvale, California. When it arrived home, I saw the screen was broken. When I asked them about it they said that they are not responsible for physical damages and can't refund or exchange. What a SCAM? Are we suppose to open the box and check at the store before they ship? NEVER EVER BUY FROM THESE CON ARTISTS. It is a day light robbery.
danflt 10/23/2006
Don't ever buy an advantage extended warranty on plasma TVs from CC...Better yet, stay the heck out the place. The hairs they split on avoiding the terms of contract on burn-in is so outrageous it stings!

6 stars in durham nc great shooping "with my WIFE"and shes picky!!thanks

The phone tree for Circuit City is horrible! The CEO needs to call it just to see how impossible it is. Extended warranties with CC are a pain! I always had been told that extended warranties were not worth the money or the trouble, and now I know why I was told that.

Short-Circuit City blows dogs! They tried to get me for almost $100.00 in "restock fees", after I found the same item at Best Buy cheaper. They wouldn't beat thier competitor's price and give me back the difference, then wanted to charge me their 15% restock fee when I asked for a refund. So I was forced to keep their item @ a higher price than Best Buy. BUYER BEWARE! CIRCUIT CITY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN HIGHWAY ROBBERS!!!!!

I went to a circuit city today to buy a Nintendo DS. I went in, went directly to the game section, grabbed a DS box, a starter kit, and the two games I wanted. It took me about five minutes to find the two hundred dollars worth of merchandise that I was looking for. The point I am trying to make is that this would have been the easiest two hundred dollars that Circuit City ever made. I got up to the front of the store, and there are two people in front of me in line. After about thirty seconds of no activity at all, I realize that there are no registers open, just one person at the information desk going very, very slowly. After fifteen minutes, I am the second person in line. Five or six employees are standing around, not doing much of anything. I had to go to work soon, so I did something that I rarely do...I rolled my eyes, put my two hundred dollars worth of merchandise back, and left in a huff. I work in retail, I know it's tough. I'm not necessarily blaming the five or six employees...maybe Circuit City has harsher rules about opening a register than my place of employment does. If that's the case, they should rethink the rules or their managers should be more alert to what is going on in the front. If that's not the case, then one of the five or six employees should have opened a register. I buy more electronics and games than the average bear, and I won't be going back to my local Circuit City for a while.

Recently, I purchased an hp digital camera on the circuit city online store. It was on sale for a great price with free shipping. It took my credit card, gave me a confirmation number and a ship date. A few weeks later, after never receiving a confirmation email that the item had shipped, I called their 800 number. I was informed that the order had been cancelled. WHAT??? I didn't cancel the order and they had NO OTHER INFORMATION. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after waiting on hold again, the first guy I spoke to came back on the line and basically told me that a supervisor wouldn't be able to help me any more than he could. I called another 800 for circuit city customer service and asked for a supervisor. She said the same thing. They had no information as to why the order was cancelled. The camera had gone out of stock 2 days after I placed the order. I should not have been allowed to place the order if stock was out. I asked her if the camera came back into stock, if they would honor the sale price and she flat out told me NO!!! I called my local store and asked for the regional managers phone number and all they could do was send him an email on my behalf. On a positive note, the manager on duty that night offered to sell me another model of camera at the same price, however, I did not want this model, it had a smaller lcd. Back to the negative. in 2001 I purchased an RCA ultimate tv receiver and purchased the extended warranty good for five years. This past year it died and after going to the store I was told I had to call the 800 number on my receipt. I spoke to three different people who all told me a different story. In the end I was told they would ship me a box to send the old one back and then they would ship me a refurbished unit. That was three months ago. NO BOX EVER ARRIVED!!! Circuit City has lost a customer for life. If you ever have a problem that is not resolved to your satisfaction, they do have a phone number to a place called the E Suite. Some sort of executive complaint line. It is not toll free and I didn't bother because it just isn't worth the time and hassle. I will smear Circuit City any chance I get for the rest of my life.

Have had a circuit city account for almost a year. Making my payments online every month. I made This month's payment online as usual and after submitting payment, the printable receipt stated that I am to be charged an extra $14.95 for "expidited payment processing fee". My payment isn't due for three days from today. I called them and they stated that they started a new policy in January that any payments made online within 4 days of the due date will be charged this fee. Its akin to having to pay a late fee for making a timely payment. AND I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OR INFORMED OF ANY POLICY CHANGES!!

I will never shop there again. First, I bought the same monitor twice. Both times, they gave me the older model and tried to pass it off as the one I ordered. Most people would have ever noticed because the only difference was a "P" in the model number. I changed my mind on the 2nd monitor and took it back the day after I bought it. It was still in the box and I didn't open any of the connectors or instructions. They charged me $78 for a restocking fee. No matter how much I argues, they wouldn't budge. Why would I ever shop there again?I will never shop there again. First, I bought the same monitor twice. Both times, they gave me the older model and tried to pass it off as the one I ordered.
