I am not a fan but this one is slightly better than everything else I have heard by them.

Outstanding. Tool has no competition in my eyes. I dont see it as a metal album. Although it has been catagorised this way. The killer druming of Daney Cary and the vocals of Maynard makes any album they create an instant classic. Much love to them.

As with the band Tool in general, you either love it or hate it. If you hate it, there's a 99% possibility that you simply don't understand it. If you do, you'll love it.

Wrecked-Gar - You are absolutely smurfly clueless! Long live the Hadrons! Such a sinister little squirrel, which nut are you going to eat first?

A disappointment compared to their previous masterpiece, but I think that was to be expected. Lateralus just drones on and on in my opinion, although to hear the Tool apologists explain it, it's because they use extended off beats and their timings are stretched out longer than most people can comprehend. Still boring to me over time, but great to listen to in moderation.

That cretinous drummer melted down priceless Templar artifacts to make stage props! For that alone (aside from the crappy overated prog metal) he earns my eternal hatred and damnation from forces beyond his feeble comprehension.

Probably the best album of 2001. Inventive, and yet despite the 7 to 10 min. epics, no filler(Except 'Mantra' whatever that's about). Tool has come up with another hard rock classic. Great writing and great instrumentation. Nuff said. It's a fact that listening to a TOOL cd will bring and intresting, sometimes unusual, but always amazing experience. Favorites include 'The Grudge,' 'Reflection,' and 'Ticks and Leeches.'

Absolutely brilliant album. So many nuances. Ridiculously intricate polyrhythms. Profound lyrics that do not recycle pop emotion, but reflect deep states of being that are only present in true art. many melodic themes explored on the guitar and bass which are exceptionally pleasant, yet not dominating - they work seamlessly with the other instruments to create a balanced sound. maynard's voice is at once soothing and expressing the most intense gut-wrenching feelings. by far the best rock growl out there today - just listen to his 25 second tour de force at the end of "The Grudge". danny carey is perhaps the most talented rock drummer out there - crisp, intricate rhythms that accent the music perfectly. I could go on forever...but just take my word for it and BUY THIS ALBUM!!

Tool has had several cds before this one and quite frankly, they've done a lot better before. This one is slow paced and uninvited, as if it didn't have much thought put into it.

very, very good. admittedly, i don't always listen to the last few (past Lateralis), which is not so much that they're not as good as the rest of the cd, but that compared to the more complex preceding tracks they are a little too simple. i love the cd, i wouldn't change a thing about it, but although tracks Disposition, Reflection, and Triad are well done, they seem to be low-energy songs on a high-energy cd.

You should only by the album 'cause of it's lay-out ! Really beautiful. You can hear that Maynard has been playing in A Perfect Circle for a while because he uses his voice the same way.I like this album !

Another astonishing breakthrough album from the labelable band TOOL. This band will never sell out. Never go soft. TOOL has created their own worl of sound and this is another masterpeice. Maynard uses his vocals more on this album than ever before which is a very nice change. TOOL is one of the most consistantly brilliant bands in music today. I look forward to the future of this truely genius group of musicians.
