George Bush's foreign policy is the worst in history. He did nothing to aviod 9/11, he went into a country for oil while risking our security and giving up on getting the real enemy, he misled America into war, has lied, has not made the nation energy independent which helps countries that hate us, he has done nothing to stop global warming, has let illegals into this nation, vetoed stem-cell research, failed to raise the minimum wage on large companies, gave tax cuts to big oil companies, has spent money on big companies and hasn't supported the trooops, and has embarrased the nation on various occasions.

I voted for Bush in 1998 for Governor (I was 20 then), 2000, and 2004. I haven't alawys supported everything he stands for, but who always agrees with their boss, pastor, or parent? I know this, when he was Governor of Texas our crime rate went down, when he took over as President my paychecks have gotten a great deal better (I am in the Navy), and our country has shown the world (right or wrong) that we won't allow terrorists to attack us and get away with it. I know there are questionable things about some of George W. Bush's business practices prior to his taking office, but Clinton came to the White House with some baggage. What was it called...oh yeah, Whitewater. There are also numerous mysterious deaths surrounding the Clintons (both William and Hillary) dating back to the earliest days of Bill Clinton's governship of Arkansas. I still approve of many thing Bush has done. Did you all know that the Dept. of Labor just put out the unemployment numbers for the end of 2006??? Do you know what they are? 4.6%, not too bad. That is just as good as any of Bill Clinton's. Oh yeah, more than 115,000 jobs were added to the economy in January 2007. Bush: bad or good? I think he's done a god job, but the war in Iraq has overshadowed too much of that. (Even liberals like Chris Matthews have said that) Also, many of the leading Democrats who are now running for President voted for the WAR and the FUNDING of our troops for the War in Iraq. They had access to the intelligence that the Republicans and the President had. Why did they vote if it was a mistake? Why did Hillary vote that way? She couldn't even give a reasonable answer to a lady who asked her about that this past week when she was campaigning in New Hamshire. I want answers for why they agreed with President Bush if he is such a liar???

Just a question for you all; Do you honestly think that a President or Prime Minster runs the country? I do feel that there is accountability, but do you honestly think he or she has the final word! Just a thought!!!!!Updated 1/26/2007 2:10pm 2 Helpful vote.

When it's all over, Bush is going to make Nixon look honest. It's amazing how Bush people won't listen to anything they don't want to hear. If I disagree with someone, I'll still listen and tell them why I think they're wrong. If I suggest that someone listen to facts regarding election of 2000, or illegal business deals of his and his families, and say "Here, there's proof." I get stuff
like, "You're just a sore loser." When the Supreme Court made their decision about the 2000 election(Although it was not to be used as a precedent, only for THAT election), and Justices of the Supreme Court who would benefit by Bush winning(Like Sandra Day O'Conner being on the record that she was going to retire when there was a Republican President), and didn't recuse themselves. It really was one of the worst moments in our countries history. I think that eventually someone is going to talk. Hopefully it will be in my lifetime.

President Bush stands strong for the USA while in other countries. Unlike the last two democrat presidents who are both a disgrace. Carter and clinton spread lies and make traitorous remarks while in other counties. This is typical liberal behavior. It is now the norm for democrats to make traitorous remarks, reveal classified programs that are keeping us safe and through their activist judges rewrite laws and treaties in a manor that makes the law or treaty ineffective at doing what congress originally meant them to accomplish. This is making a mockery of our system of government. The judicial branch was never meant to write laws or treaties.

Hey Andrew, once you've read the story about how Bush tried unsuccesfully to gain approval at the G8 summit by making a horse's ass of himself in about 3 different ways,

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/278134_bushr ub20.html?source=mypi
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060717/pl_nm/group_mid east_bush_dc_1
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/07/15/russia.g 8/index.html

...only to have the anti-Bush crowd and a number of WORLD LEADERS break the news to him that being obnoxious is NOT a good way to make a good impression, a lot more things about Bush begin to make sense, in terms of incredibly poor skills in the area of decency, especially when he's with people from other countries.

You'll also realize that the only people who support Bush are people who are so stupid, they don't regard what he did at the G8 summit as embarrasing.

President Bush has brought this country back from the clinton recession to the best economy we have ever had.The clinton economy ended in recession therefore it was unsuccessful. His economy was supported by speculation in tech companies. The effect did not appear until several months later. Nothing in our economy happens instantly. One must look several months back to see what caused any economic down turn. In this case it was Oct. of clinton's last year as President. This was when the tech stock bubble burst. When these investors pulled their money out the economy failed. Per capita income is higher now than in the 90's therefore jobs are not paying less they are paying more. The rich pay over 80% of all taxes. Poor people pay zero income tax. If your economy ends in recession it does not matter what your stats were. Clinton's economy was a failure. Unemployment is down to 4.6%, home ownership is at an all time high. He has brought democracy to Afghanistan and Iraq. Please read LanceRoxas' comments. He addresses many of the inaccurate statements made on this page.

We gave peace a chance and Saddam Hussein broke the cease fire agreement. It was time to respond and the President did. We now have democracy in Iraq and a brutal dictator is on trial.

It is important to not show weakness when dealing with the enemy. The liberal attitude of appeasement does not work. The President understands that peace is accomplished through strength.

The man was re-elected as Governor and as President. The people spoke in both cases and decided that he was doing a good job.

In the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 there are several reasons cited for the justification of war not just weapons of mass destruction:

Iraq's noncompliance with the conditions of the 1991 cease fire.

Iraq's noncompliance with the sanctions.

Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, and programs to develop such weapons, posed a "threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region".

Iraq's "brutal repression of its civilian population".

Iraq's "capability and willingness to use weapons of mass destruction against other nations and its own people".

Iraq's hostility towards the United States as demonstrated by the 1993 assassination attempt of former President George H. W. Bush, and firing on coalition aircraft enforcing the no-fly zones following the 1991 Gulf War.

Iraq's alleged connection to terrorist groups, including Al Qaeda
Fear that Iraq would provide weapons of mass destruction to terrorists for use against the United States.

The President can only go on what the intelligence community tells him and the head of the CIA said "it was a slam dunk" when asked by congress if Sadam had wmd. It would be wrong for the him to NOT go to war. There have recently been released tapes of Sadam talking about hiding wmd and one of his top generals has put out a book stating that wmd were moved to Syria.

Dubya and his goons are just out of control....ignoring the Constitution "in the name of National Security." Developing telephone call and bank transactions monitoring on the lines of what George Orwell envisioned...in the name of "National Security." Slapping his corrupt buddies on the wrist in the name of "National Security." Ignoring the threats of global warming in the name of "National Security."
Do you feel any safer? Convenient how so-called terrorist plots are being uncovered in the months before the mid term elections. And I predict that Osama Been Hiding will be conveniently uncovered a week before Election Day. Welcome to Wag the Dog--the fictional movie has become reality.

The middle class is being destroyed by this administration. His war of revenge and greed for oil will have devasting results for the middle class and poor in the world. Update: The difference Zortan is I haven't heard stories about women in America receiving death threats for attempting to go to school, but I have heard stories about that in Iraq. Sure there are murders in this country as well, but you can't compare it to the number of murders in Iraq. What kind of democracy is it when the women have to cover up their bodies and receive death threats. Also, Bush should have handled both 9/11 and Katrina better. Now to be honest, I'm not a stat man, stats especially from the internet can be faulty because they can be from different sources. I don't believe that this is the highest US employment rate in history. If that's true, how come thousands of people are losing their jobs? Bush and our beer guzzling Vice President Cheney's approval rating our their lowest numbers yet. We send a lot of our jobs to illegal aliens and people overseas. Bush wanted to give illegal workers a freaking "work card" to come here to the states and work! The Louisiana governor my also be to blame for some things, but didn't Bush is the president, and I like my presidents who has a tactical and well thought plan. It seems like Bush lined up our troops and said, "Let's charge blindy without enough armor and kick ass!" He's a terrible leader, his slow reaction of 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina was the final blow that made me realize that Bush is an idiot. His lack of historical perspective, his crusading religiousness, his Texas-style shoot-first-ask-questions-later approach to complex problems, all the shortcomings that were obvious from the beginning of his presidency, seem to be catching up with him now. It's one thing to be a decisive leader. It is quite another to be consistently making the wrong decisions, and Bush you constantly make wrong decisions. Originally wrote: He has brought democracy to Iraq!? Women still receive death threats if they want to go to school! Democracy has nothing to do with it, it's all about one thing, oil. A lot of the people who are working are illegal aliens what about hiring some Americans Bushy! Where are the wmd's? Where is Osama? Bush knew about a possible threat of 9/11 and did a terrible job handling hurricane Katrina. Can you believe that a lot of the hurricane katrina victims are still living without electricity? Sure he's doing a wonderful job! He's one of the greatest US presidents ever!

The worst president in US History. He was SELECTED because his dad was president and he ran against a stuipd hick- Al Gore (who still would have done a better job then him). He constantly violates the consitution and draggs us into debt. Because of him China could overtake the US some day as the world's best superpower. He has also made millions of muslims want to destroy us. Also he listens to our conversations without warrants- disreguarding the constitution as if it is a piece of toilet paper. Great Job asswipe! PERPETUAL WAR: The enemies change, but the people are forever enveloped by a "wartime economy". POLITICAL AND NEWSPEAK: It all means the opposite of what they're saying ("double-ya" is a master in "confusespeakology", which is known as "double-plus ungood". SURVEILLANCE: Not in your backyard (to the best of your knowledge), but it's entrenched in large gathering places (gas stations, intersections, stores, libraries, banks, etc.). THOUGHTCRIME: When the light of reality is cast upon the thousands of cases of "Internet sex predation", only a handful of actual girls have been involved (and summarily busted by parents doing their jobs); remove the "alter egos" of these badge-wearing fishermen, and the illusion begins to crumble (real girls overwhelmingly take a pass on these bumbling misanthropes). "TWO MINUTES HATE": This is what "leaders" (presidents, newspersons, cartoonists, political commentators, minority affiliates, televangelists, etc.) desire whenever they speak. HISTORY REVISION: A few years back, a "history" book would have you buy into the notion that early Americans weren't firearms owners (and we're far from building surge-proof levees in this category). Any of this sound familiar? It should, because it's taken right out of the pages of a different George's imagination: Orwell. Granted, it hasn't all come to pass (yet), which is probably why you don't hear widespread vocal opposition (after all, the sex, coffee, and chocolate are still flowing with enough relative ease to keep those plastic smiles affixed properly). My thanks go out to fellow analogian Mike Wuest, who got me to thinking that this nightmarish vision was only off by a few decades and a few letters.

Bush aside, it's interesting to read the posts here because they can be divided into two basic categories: Emotional and Rational. Emotional posters use a lot of logical fallacies and do not seem to be able to make, let alone sustain, a logical argument. Rational posters provide concrete support, such as data, to back up their assertions. They also seem to be more careful in their choice of words, use of grammar and punctuation, and in their spelling. Their writing is clearly purposeful, whereas Emotional posters tend to ramble. The ranting of emotions-based posters reaffirms my belief that not everyone should be allowed to vote. I teach high school English, which is a class of reading and writing (=thinking), and have taught composition and literature at the college level. If I were grading the one star posts on the basis of whether they back up their assertions with concrete details, they would all fail. They also extensively use argumentum ad hominem and rail about stuff that's totally irrelevant. For example, a person's speech disorder doesn't make that person stupid, nor does a person's appearance. If we use the latter as a rubric in judging presidents, then Abe Lincoln would have to be ruled a disaster. I could go on here, but what's the use? People that shoot from the gut aren't going to try to improve themselves. Their emotions have been in charge too long to change now. Please note the response below by LanceRoxas. Read it carefully and note how he marshals forth the concrete details to back up his assertions. His spelling is correct. He probably took time to think about what he was writing and even proofread before he posted. Emotions-based people generally don't do that. Note also the grammar and sentence structure. His thoughts flow with clarity and logic. LanceRoxas' post gets an A. Writing is a reflection of the quality of your thinking. It's scary to think that some of the highly visceral individuals that posted here will actually go to a polling booth and cast a vote in the next presidential election. Such people are easy prey for TV ads, hyperbolic political discourse, sloganeering, and group-think. They remind me somewhat of the characters found in not a few dystopian novels. Cheers.

"Bush sucks! Bush is an idiot!" Bush bashers are simply ignorant of history. They follow no logical commitment to any particular philosophical beliefs beyond "they hate Bush." Case in point: (i) "Bush has underfunded education." There can simply no rational explanation for this statement. Under Bush's watch education funding HAS DOUBLED! In Clinon's last year in office his budget included somewhere around 29 to 30 billion in funding. Bush's education funding has grown to over 60 billion per year! (ii) "He's the worst president ever." This is simply stupid. Is he the best, no. But how exactly do we measure presidents? Their successes and failures in totality with respect to others historically. Poor presidents domestically will register poor economic growth, high unemployment, large deficits, low business growth, high interst rates, high inflation, high domestic strife, domestic security, poverty, housing purchaes, policy communication, and scandals. We also will measure the successes of their policy initiatives after they leave office. These individually will lend themselves to subjective interpretation but in general the totality of the tenure will be measured utilizing these types data. During Bush's terms so far the economy has registered strong growth historically (better than the modern presidents Bush sr, Carter, Nixon, LBJ, FDR, Hoover) The GNP growth rate since the 2002 minirecession in the March following terror attacks has been remarkable over 4% even at one point registering over 8% in a quarter. This has allowed the economy to add over 4.5 million new jobs while dropping the unemployment rate to an historical low, 4.7%. If all our jobs were going over seas- why are more Americans gainfully employed today than say 10 years ago? Why has net wealth continued to increase for all Americans during his tenure? Why are housing sales at an all time high? To say Bush is "the worst president ever" one would have to ignore the Hoover failures- unemployment rates of 25%, a negative growth rate and inflationary pressures on essential goods! How about the Carter years when unemployment peaked close to 10%, inflation rates were 13%, interest rates were over 20% and we had gas prices that were double what they would be today adjusted for inflation. In reality some of Bush's economic successes including his tax proposals has allowed the economy to exceed some of those gained during those of the "booming" 90's but liberals would never give him credit for that. Is Bush perfect? Far from it. The deficits have increased under his presidency and it can't all be blamed on the war (but it can't be blamed on the tax cuts either like liberals love to claim because the receipts taken in have actually exceeded those projected because the lower tax rates have actually increased growth). He's added new entitlements that will probably only increase this problem. At the same time as a percentage of GNP the deficits are actually lower than at many other points in our nation's history. Bush has tried, but failed, to address an essential issue that needs to restrucured- social security. Bush has failed to communicate to the American people at various times, his administration has acted torpidly after Katrina hit, and his locution isn't as polished as FDR's or Reagans. But we also haven't had any major security failures since 9-11. The Patriot Act can be credited for that and Bush's surveillance strategies utilizing his legal authority under Article II of the Constitution has kept us safe. Hundreds of potential terrorists in the United States have been captured since 2001. The Bush administration has thwarted plans to dirty bomb Times Square in NYC, blow up the Brooklyn bridge, bomb the Lincoln Tunnel just in NYC alone. Liberals cry about civil rights violations but can't produce ONE documented case where this has been true. But I can assureyou the civil rights of 3000 dead Americans on 9-11 where violated- where's the tears for them?(iii) "He's caused the death of thousands of dead soldiers because he's mismanaged the war" or "he's got us involved in a war that shouldn't have involved us because there was no direct threat". Well FDR got us involved in WWII and there surely was no direct threat to the nation's mainland. More soldiers died the morning of the Normandy invasion than during the 3 years for Gulf War II. LBJ escalated military action that was completely mismanaged and caused the deaths of 58,000 soldiers in IndoChina. Our inaction and pull out by Nixon caused the death and slaughter of 3 million innocent Cambodians. Truman got us involved in Korea and 50,000 died there- what did that accomplish? FDR's policy miscalculations led to the deaths of 2500 soldiers in Pearl Harbor in one day. Once again, has Bush's policies been perfect, no. But in the context of the successes and failures just of our modern presidents it's plain dumb to claim he's the worst.

This guy is an absolute idiot. I think some of the decisions he's recently made are not in the best interest of America. A glaring example is the current DUBAI port deal. This one is a no brainer. This guy is selling America to the highest bidder at our expense. All this talk about national security and we're "outsourcing" port security to a middle eastern country? Also, why does the president keep referring to illegal aliens as "guest workers"? Guest are people you invite. You stupid brain dead americans need to wake up a take a hard look at what's going on in this country; especially the smug republicans. Supporting your party is one thing, but our main allegiance should be to the safety and well being of the American People, not big business.

First let me start off by saying I don't care if Bush is a Republican or a Democrat. This guy is an idiot. When he talks, he looks like he is looking at the sun. He always says words like "terror" or "freedom." "We are fighting the war on terror." "We want freedom so we won't have anymore terror." "Osama is a bad man because he didn't like freedom." Yous still don't believe Bush is an idiot, here are some quotes from Bush I found off the internet. But Iraq has have got people there that are willing to kill, and they're hard-nosed killers. And we will work with the Iraqis to secure their future." George W. Bush, at a press conference with European Union dignitaries, Washington, D.C., June 20, 2005 "See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda." The epitome of mediocre or slightly better.Voted for him twice. He is OK.Not as bad as critics make him out to be.A decent guy who does frankly appear to be a tad overmatched. Can be dogmatic and is not intellectually curious.A lousy public speaker.ZERO fiscal discipline with all the earmarks.Love his stance on taxes and especially Social Security.I do get tired of all the stupid leftist nonsense comparing him to Hitler,et al.

Sorry guys I can't agree with most of you. Sure he's not perfect but he tries to do a good job - whats more: he does. Iraqis will always be grateful. If you doubt this, just ask a soldier who's been over there and they'll tell you they're appreciated. Believe me you can trust a soldier more than a biased reporter with little time spent in Iraq who is only trying to make a buck by selling another shocking story about doom and gloom. Don't close your eyes the trajedies, but don't close them to the successes either. To name a few: schools built, water supplied, electricity supplied, threat of unjust execution eliminated.
