A great politician and leader. Hard to argue the positive impact he had on NYC while in office. I can't even find a good prostitute anymore when I visit. I think we will see him around again real soon...2008 perhaps?

Wonderful mayor of NYC and I hope public service is in his future. Started cleaning up NYC by eliminating graffiti and fining intimidating and disruptive squeegee men. Turned Times Square from a decaying, pornographic cesspool to a thriving area once again. Crime experienced a sharp decline thanks to his policy iniatives, most notably the Compstat program that has become the focus of his private business. A conservative on fiscal matters, he cut the oppressive NYC hotel tax, among other taxes, and voila, more vactioners sought NYC as a tourist attraction, and more businesses came to NYC for conventions and what not. Finally, his leadership during the 911 was unparalleled, from attending to the wreckage to calming the city at a time when is desperately needed it. Attended the funerals of many of the policemen and firefighters who died on that day and visited them in hospitals. Truly one of the great politicians of our time.

Giuliani lead New York City decently and competently. The primary problem facing NYC at the beginning was the high crime rate, and despite some political opposition, he handled the problem vigorously. By the time he left office, the crime rate was down to the same level it was in the mid-1960's. Investment poured into the city which lead to higher tax revenues. Rudy made the city run like clockwork. His methods might have been too rough sometimes, but overall he left NYC in better shape. I took off a star because he didn't really address the endemic problems with education, but that's also a state issue. His strength with crisis management was exhibited during the 9/11 attacks. He's a very skilled politicians and has a very sharp mind. I don't like some of his views on foreign policy, which might be a hindrance for me voting for him one day for President, which will probably happen by 2008. Watch...But otherwise a good politician who's Presidential timber.

Rudy is a HOE! Pimping himself for women and money. 911 brought mo' money for this hoe. Go Rudy, Go Rudy, shake your booty, shake your booty!! Perfect example of how hypocritical right wing republicans are. Pre-911 on his way out on his butt, Post-911...Time Magazine's Man of the Year. Rudy is an adulterous, lying, cheating, stealing financial BENEFITTER of 911. His story (he) is a sad commentary of american politics. He should run for president with Newt as his running mate. Two hypocritical hoes..

Rudy Giuliani is a great leader and he is a big reason why i want to be in politics. besides some of his obvious pitfalls (everyone has them) like cheating on his wife and all that scandal with Judy Nathan, and the racial profiling, he did good for the city and really showed his true colours as a leader on 9/11.

Rudy Giuliani was the greatest mayor in the history of New York City. His uncanny leadership and assertion abilities set an example for current and future leaders of major cities world wide. Prior to his inception, NYC treasures, such as Times Square, were havens for prostitutes and criminials. Rudy took back the city from such evil elements and reasserted New York as the capital of the world. Although I believe he could have avoided half the television cameras following 9-11 and he certainly did not need to be in the dugout at the all-star game, he did an exceptional job as mayor. Anyone who believes that the incredible growth and prosperity NYC experienced during the 1990s was a result of Koch and Dinkins is dangerously delusional and probably needs to be institutionalized. Ultimately, I wish Rudy could be president but I am afraid his personality would prevent him from achieving such prestige. However, if Rudy chooses to run for governor or senator, watch out! I guarantee he will win.

I didn't think much of him before 9/11, but I do admire and respect the way he handled the emergency, hence 4 stars. Sometimes people reveal the best of their character when faced with incredible tragedy, and he rose to the occasion and performed well. Kudos to him.

This guy was so lame that most New Yorkers were left feeling nostalgic for the days of Ed Koch, which is pretty sad. Guiliani doubled the city debt to $40 billion, left us with a $4 billion budget deficit, hired 10,000 cops it turned out we didn't need, and provided no tax relief for working New Yorkers while he doled out hundreds of millions of dollars in tax forgiveness to the corporations year after year. His coked-up, racist thugs on the NYPD proclaimed it open season on African-American men under the age of 50, hassling, shooting and raping citizens who were guilty of little or nothing more than having dark skin. Despite all his insincere lipservice to this issue, Guiliani had absolutely no problem with this. In addition, our infrastructure problems went begging during his reign of terror, as did our sick joke of a school district, and this twerp trampled on the civil rights of freedom of speech and assembly again and again. He tried to sell New Yorkers on the idea of a $1 billion stadium for his beloved dickweed Yankees, and when the public told him to drop dead he turned around and spent something like $150 million on two minor league stadiums we didn't need or want. He set himself up a a Morality Czar and protector of that criminal conspiracy known as the Catholic Church, but had no problem parading around his old whore, Judith Nathan, like she was the Virgin Mary or something. Current Mayor Bloomie inherited a plethora of problems resulting from Guiliani's idiotic policies and lack of action on critical issues, which indicates that our former Mayor wasn't so great after all. Seems like the people who have the highest opinion of Guiliani are the rightwing droolers who don't know any better who live out in the economically, culturally and socially deprived backwaters of this country, while his former constituency sees him for what he is: a headline-grabbing, hypocritical adulterer who polarized this city along racial, social and ideological lines, and failed to address several major needs of the citizens while ushering other problems of his own making. In this, he is possibly the most overrated political figure in this country, which, after all, is noteworthy in its overpraising and hyping up of the thieves, scoundels, charlatans and clowns who are called our "leaders."

Mr. Guiliani is one of the most courageous people to ever live. Although brash at times, his ethics, compassion, and bravery are unmatched. He was a staunch supporter of the civil services in New York City, and as a result, he successfully did what all New Yorkers wanted him to do, reduce crime while increasing overall security in the city. Tourism to the city steadily grew under his tutelage. Having a powerful figure such as Mayor Guiliani was a major stabilizing force to the city of New York.

After recently seeing the TV film about Rudy Giuliani, I really hold a high opinion of this guy. I respect his bravery and honesty during the 9/11 crisis. I don't know much about what he did for the city prior to 9/11 other than attempting to clean up the streets, but anyone able to keep a cool head like he did during such a horrible tragedy deserves at least three stars, even if he was an adultrer. However, if what Moosekarloff says is true (I am going to check on it), then he is only worthy of three stars in my book.

Giuliani was not very popular before 9/11, especially with blacks. His politics were very questionable, not to mention he was unfaithful to his wife. He did his job on 9/11 just any other mayor would have done and I think he has been exalted way too much ever since then.

I rated him very high in spite of the fact that I am not crazy about his politics. BUT he was magnificent during the 9/11 horror and I do mean during as he stayed right there, showed remarkable leadership qualities and was brave. I believe he comforted and inspired many New Yorkers by his behavior. He urged New Yorkers to cry, cry and cry and confessed that he had cried every nite during the crisis and I greatly admired that non-macho message.

I believe that when looking at politicians that opinions should only be formed based on their record. I don't believe in being picky on how they got it done, just the fact that a good job was preformed. And clearly the whole record shows that Rudy Giuliani was a great mayor. In addition, outside of the record and purely from my own personal opinion I think that while the affair thing was nasty, overall I think he is a brave and good person.

I think Rudy is the best mayer that New York ever had. The city after David Dinkins became so bad that tourism dropped dramatically. Tourists were shot on the street, shoot outs on the subways. It was Dodge city!! I love the city of NY and Rudy was the best thing that ever happened to the city. Yeah!!!! Let's make Al Sharpton the mayor and maybe we can have Tawana Brawley assistant mayor -- the city would really go down the tubes!

Just like W, he owes his makeover popularity to 9/11. Before that NY was ready to run him out of town on a rail for his draconian measures for cleaning up streets and time square and so forth. Surprised that he ever got elected mayor of such a liberal city to begin with. He should jump into something now instead of taking time off like he is. People might start to remember what he was like pre 9/11

Good: 1. Rudy has a sense of humor. He was a drag queen on Saturday Night Live. 2. Turned NYC into the safest city. No more riots! 3. Rudy took on the Mafia. 4. He revamped Time Square's sleazy porn area into a thriving commerce district. No more prostitutes 5. Rudy doesn't kowtow to anyone. I remember when a Saudi prince offered a million dollar check to his WTC charity. But this prince said some degrading things about America. Rudy told the Prince off and return his check.. 6. Rudy became a real leader after Sept 11. He went to Ground Zero to speak with the rescue workers. Rudy did not hide behind his office or plane. BAD: 1. Rudy wanted to use public funds to built a new baseball stadium. The salary of a baseball player is one million dollars or more. Teachers, policeman, and other workers earn much less. The ordinary citizen should not pay for new stadiums. I think these overpaid athletes should foot the bill instead 2. His messy divorce. Rudy doesn't care about his family's feelings. His affair made front page on People Magazine. 3. Even though he cheated on his wife, Rudy had the nerve to lecture people about their morals. Rudy became a dictator and tried to censor offensive art. 4. Rudy & Ringling Bro circus 5. I am no fan of Al Shaprton. But I have to agreed that Rudy did not handle the police brutality situation too well....Sometimes Rudy can a jerk. But he is the toughest politician in NYC. I can't argue with that.

Rudy deserve credit for making NYC a safer place. But he is a Conservative hypocrite. He has the nerve to criticized the Brooklyn Art museum for their lack of morals. Yet this tyrant has no problem in moving his mistress to the Gracie mansion. He doesn't care about his children's feelings. I haven't seen the Conservative Republicans complaing about his behavior. "It is morally wrong for Bill Clinton to cheat on his wife. But it is okay for Rudy, Newt G, or any Republican to have a bimbo lying around". ....Give me a break!

While I don't agree completely with some of the things the former Mayor stood for, I certainly wouldn't consider the NYPD overzealous in the shootings they were involved in. They happen to be called 'mistakes'. Tragic mistakes, but mistakes nonetheless. Those, like ellajedlicka21, who wear the racial chip on their shoulder, are expected to make the comments they do. It's no surprise.

He definitely cleaned up New York of crime, and he's a Yankee fan. I strongly disagree with the means in which he achieved the crime rate to go down. He instructed and promoted police brutality and racial profiling. The overzealous killing of several innocents by the NYPD was an unprovoked act of senseless violence.

Sure, his affair was a mess-up. He looks very weathered now because of that and all that's been going on. But we all know how much Rudy has swept up NYC and I think he's done a better job of being the "friendly people-person politician" than Dubya Bush. I took a tour of NBC studios a few years back and he was guest starring on SNL at the time- I saw him in person through a window. I didn't realize how cool that was until more and more I started to see him in the papers and I started to respect him. He's prevailed through some tough times- the whole encephalitis ordeal, the crazy election (although it may not have affected NY very directly, it affected us all), and of course the World Trade Center terrorism. I'm not much on politics, but I know enough to respect you, Rudy.

Rudy has proved what a great Mayor he is. He loves this city and has brought it back from the hell it was for many years. I was afraid to go into the city with the last mayor in charge. Now I go there at least once a month. Compared to Clinton Giuliani is a saint personal wise. I'll rate him on his job performence only. New York is going to miss him when he steps down.
