A reprehensible and dangerous man who would do anything to keep his power. Not very many people pay attention to the Clinton death count..the long list of people associated with him and Hillary who met untimely and suspicious deaths. Treated the Oval Office like a bathhouse, and pretty much everything he did was dictated by polls. Sad thing is...he may be back in '08, only this time, as "first man(?)"

Five words: Clinton lied; no one died. George W. Bush's lies about Weapons of Mass Destruction are producing dead soldiers every day. Also, the economy was booming under Clinton.
clayton139 01/11/2007
I think he is the smartest President I have ever seen in my lifetime of 49 years! Why can we not get that caliber of presidents in the future. Or, get a 3rd. term for him! Bill Clinton is smart and rocks. We need a different system to find smart Presidents like Bill Clinton in the future! Instead of Stupid, Drunk, Cheerleaders that have money but, no clue!
billyguns2 12/10/2006
A terrible president who gave new meaning to the word "spin," a flouter of international law, contemptuous of civil liberties, and a man of no deeply held convictions or fundamental philosoophy; his inattentive Administration gave rise to the stock market crash and disastrous George W. Bush Administration of thugs.
cyoakam1 11/08/2006
A thinking man's (or women's) president. Looks at most sides of an issue. Could have accomplished more if he had had a decent Congress to work with. ....Cy
disgust4PCness 11/07/2006
He was a puppet of the feminists and pushed anti-male, anti-family laws throughout his eight years. The results will be felt for generations. He has played a major part in the decline of American society.
jojosf 09/26/2006
smartest guy ever to be elected president. Wingnuts on his tail the whole 8 years and still he managed to be remarkable.
Momsandpopscal lmeJoe 08/09/2006
He's simply the best ever. He was a playa too, he once had 3 ladies, Paula, Monica, and Hillary. Bush is a tool, he aint real and he dont care bout us ya mean. If I could vote for any president it will be Clinton.
emerillagassef an 06/12/2006
The Best President in a long time, no one died when clinton lied, clinton had a better economy and had something that this current nasty president surely don't have and that's substance.
rosemd 06/09/2006
Did a lot of good things for the lower class and the environment. "Scandals" were meaningless BS, unlike President Bush who is constantly under a cloud of scandal regarding real issues. I wish Clinton had come clean on the Lewinsky thing right off the bat instead of lying.
BenjaminW 05/19/2006
A Highly inteligent man, crafty. He was the one to pass a bad economy on to Bush at the very end of his term, Buish couldn't have screwed it up that much in the very beginning. None of this as much as his wife if she becomes president I'm moving to Canada
Time4Truth 05/18/2006
This president set America up as the worlds "whipping boy" by cutting and running instead of staying the course. However, he s a smooth talker that managed to avoid a diviorce after totally disrespecting his wife in front of the entire nation. THAT has to stand for something I suppose.
steveyb 05/04/2006
It must be nice to live in "never never land", va bam, but here are the facts. Bill Clinton was the greatest president this country has ever seen. 23 million new jobs, twice the number of families coming off of welfare, funded mandates, such as education, and a balanced budget. He invested in people, and believed that "shared responsibilities" produced shared benefits. Everyone, from top to bottom benefitted from this man. When Clinton lied, no one died, as in contrast with bush 2's lies. More than "twice" the economic numbers that GOP savior Ronnie Reagan had. A man of true compassion for this country, who could relate to the every day American.
lion in winter 04/29/2006
Despite his 'moral lapses' Bill Clinton was a smart man- attending Yale, A Rhodes Scholar, etc. Came from a very humble background and worked hard to achieve. The country more likely benefitted from his 8 years as President, then was harmed by it. Saying he'Rode the economic wave that Reagan and Bush said up' is silly- you might also say that Reagan was lucky enough not to be elected in 1976- and ride the horrible wave of Carter- lets get real here. Clinton balanced the Budget-something that Reagan (and now Bush one or two never did) Clinton was also much smarter then Reagan (hell, most people are!) When 'W' took over in 2001 we went from brains to cotton candy!
geog84 04/27/2006
Very overrated in that he rode the economic wave that Reagan and Bush, Sr. set up. Plus he committed perjury. In addition, the stock market had a consistant decline since March of 2000. Bush wasn't inagurated until January of 2001, so he did NOT screw up the economy. Very stagnant in his global diplomacy and security. Did not send troops to protect the Rwandan Tutsis from the massacring Hutus in 1994, did not investigate and try the terrorists who destroyed the basement of one of the World Trade Center towers. Did not create extra security measures after the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. Did not do any investigation to the 1998 African embassies, which Bin Laden was involved. That means no September 11, folks. Did not react or take action of the U.S.S Cole bombing, then again if he had killed Bin Laden and his terrorists, there would'nt have been one. Last but not least, he should not take credit for the economic boom of the 90s. In a capitalistic society, government has very little to do with economy. The .com boom boosted the economy all by itself i.e. Bill Gates and Windows. These are the facts: plain and simple.

I was surprised that a professional political did so poorly in office. The man never held a job in the private sector and only got paid with tax payers dollars. You would think with his background he could have accomplished something positive while in office. I don't care who he had hidden under his desk in the oval office if he got his health care package through! He or rather Hilery made that attemt his first year in office then gave up. If you say you didn't like him as a president everyone defends his actions with Monica as no big deal. That's not the only reason people were disappointed with him as a leader.
Va_Man 03/25/2006
The only good thing he did was nothing. Congress kept him from screwing up the economy. If it hadn't been for the coming economic boom, set up by the Reagan tax cuts and deregulation of the the telecom industry, we'd have ended up in much worst shape. As it was, only the threat of terrorism grew under his administration. Something his successors will be cleaning up for the next generation.

So what if he got a BJ from his intern... he was my president, not my Pope. i just regret not being old enough to vote for him when he was running for his second term.

Made an ass of himself with a egomaniacal, rambling presentation at the 1988 Democratic Convention...and went DOWNHILL from there. The night Bill Clinton played the sax on the Arsenio Hall Show will be remembered as the night that I officially became a Republican. Thankfully, he can't run for President again. But if it came down to a three way choice between Clinton, his "wife" and his former VP...I would move heaven and earth to get BC elected again, SOMEHOW.
knowitallguy 02/16/2006
Best President in American History.
JohnSpina 02/08/2006
I am a lifelong conservative who looks upon President Clinton with regret and sadness. He could have been a fine president:He was a bright, charismatic, hard working man with a pretty good set of political beliefs. However, his utter lack of ethics ,low rent behavior and selfish worries about his legacy will ultimately doom him to mediocre status.
ANTHNESPY 02/02/2006
He knew how to use the Air Force to solve problems over seas and kept us out or war, but he kept the economy going good and had plenty of good jobs available. Not just thoes that only aliens would do, but good jobs. I even had medical coverage when he ruled the country.
Drummond 01/27/2006
Well, actually Bush, Sr. had managed to destroy the economy. That's why he lost the election. The wave Clinton rode was the wave of technology, which had little to do with any president.
Synchronicity 01/20/2006
I still to this day, cannot comprehend what ideology this guy stood for. I honestly believe he was a slave to his master: special interest groups. A pork bareller if there ever was one. What made him acceptable was his balancing of the budget and his moderate social policies. I am always dubious of politicians overly concerned with their own charisma, and the irony is, I feel more comfortable with someone who makes occasional foibles, rather than be as smooth as a snake. An impeachment of him was an over-reaction, yet the sycophantic antics of Hollywood towards the Clintons makes me ill.
RobTiff 01/16/2006
He was smart, highly educated, a great speaker (as apposed to the current idiot in office), and I feel he really cared about the lower, working and middle classes. I feel he was one of the best presidents this country has had.
Wallydog 01/09/2006
Every time I watch the movie "Forrest Gump", with its obvious symbolism of the baby boom generation, I think of the Clinton presidency. In many ways the Clinton presidency similarly personifies my generation. Bill Clinton assumed a presidency where all the dirty work had been done in previous administrations. Whether it was Reagan moving the economy or Bush taking an unpopular military action, all evidence pointed to some good years ahead. Indeed our economy boomed and our security seemed as strong as ever. Unfortunately, Clinton squandered it all because his personal (not presidential) actions. Whether it was his infamous "I didn't inhale" marijuana statement, his fabled womanizing or the final Lewinsky scandal, President Clinton proved to us that he was unable to express any impulse control. He disgraced his office and, in the process, disgraced us all. "If it feels good, do it" was the mantra of my generation and it will be remembered as the Clinton logo as well. He not only disregarded the many opportunities that were given him, but showed an amazing level of disrespect in the process. He was able to single handedly destroy the potential of the democratic party and virtually guarantee republican victories until all of us can forget about him. Hillary would have a reasonable chance if she can get away from him. To all my fellow democrats, I urge you to quit defending President Clinton and instead sweep this disgrace under the rug with the rest of the hidden dirt.
Gromit 01/08/2006
Job performance-wise, which is truly what really counts, Bill Clinton was one of the BEST Presidents we've ever had, period. Who cares about what he did with an intern on the side! How many more past Presidents in both parties had mistresses or short lived flings that never got caught, and performed their job duties responsibly? Besides, if anything, maybe a nice BJ from Ms. Lewinsky helped Bill deal with the great stress of his job much better. Maybe Bill's marriage was 'on the rocks' and Hillary was being 'less of a wife' to him than when he first got married. Frankly, it's none of our business! What I wish to judge about Bill Clinton is his OVERALL JOB PERFORMANCE, and in short, he was a stellar President. He helped unite this country with his articulate, youthful vigor and diplomacy. He was extremely well-liked and personable. He oversaw one of the greatest economic expansions the United States has EVER seen. The list goes on. The whole Monica Lewinsky scandal and outing was just a desperate ploy by RepubliCONS grasping at straws to gain a political 'come-uppance'. Thankfully, many intelligent Americans saw through this 'smokescreen/diversionary politics', and will judge William Jefferson Clinton for what he truly was. That is, a highly effective well-liked President who made this country PROUD!
BenGoff 01/05/2006
Bill Clinton is a one of the worst presidents in the history of the USA... he got in a war to keep people's minds of the Monica thing and then left the war while it was still going... Bin Laden was there while the war was going on and saw what clinton did... he organized a "Secret" program to spy on Americans, but not to keep us safe but to increase trade in America.
Chrisjackson 12/26/2005
Only if they could make a lower rating, if being impeached and still serve as president isn't some how slimy. look for you self on the internet on his impeachment, then look some more, Clinton did things that would make nixon blush.
Sane Person 12/20/2005
Will be judged by historians to have been a good president. Although the idiots now running the country resumed the lunacy of supply-side economics, Clinton and his advisors (particularly Bob Rubin, his treasury secretary), prescribed the cure, administered it, the nation prospered. In 1993, every single supply-side moron predicted that Clinton's tax increases would sink the economy - instead the nation began its longest expansion in history. This was coupled with spending restraint (only 18% over 8 years, while the economy grew 34% - in constant dollars). When compared with outrages of the Iran-Contra scandal or many of the Dubya's execrable reign, the sex scandal that marred Clinton's presidency was very small potatoes.
malmsey71 12/14/2005
I didn't think anyone or anything could ever make me prefer Bill Clinton, but George W. Bush is getting me there. However, that's just testament to how bad Bush is, not an endorsement of Clinton, who was an absolute disgrace to the presidency. He was a master of deception and deflection, the most accomplished liar I've ever seen. The ultimate used-car salesman. No conscience whatsoever. He never took responsibilty for anything he did if there was someone else to blame or some way to twist the English language to squirm himself out on a tortured technicality. This is a man, after all, who tried to parse the word "is." The man who smoked but "didn't inhale." He's like the slimy lawyer whom everyone hates in the courtroom because he splits every hair and exploits every loophole to help his guilty-as-sin client beat the rap on an outrageous technicality. The man was an empty suit who stood for nothing but himself. Every policy in his administration was poll-tested rather than a personal conviction, because (1) power was all that mattered and (2) he HAD no personal convictions, other than getting ahead at any cost, and at anyone's expense. As Jesse Jackson once said of him, he was nothing but appetite. Just pure, unadulterated lust for power. Unfortunately, he was slick enough to fool Americans into thinking he was a decent, down-to-earth guy whom you'd love to sit down at the corner bar and have a beer with. What they could never figure out is that he'd sell them down the river if it meant boosting his own poll numbers. He was also a disgusting womanizer. I don't understand how any woman -- especially one who calls herself a self-respecting feminist -- could ever support this man. (If he'd been a Republican, the legions of hypocritical feminist "leaders" who turned a blind eye to Clinton's victims would have been screaming bloody murder.) Nor did I ever understand the constant mantra of "leave him alone; the economy's good." As long as people had food in their fridge and money in their wallet, they seemed willing to excuse any kind of behavior from this man. His personal life was none of our business? Please! The way he conducted himself in his personal life -- without shame and full of deceit -- was a reflection of how he governed. How could anyone honestly think that a self-absorbed con man with no sense of decency, dignity, or self-restraint in private affairs would then govern with honor, integrity, and trustworthiness? It's sad that so many people failed to hold their president -- the leader of the free world -- to a higher standard, and that they failed to see beyond their own immediate self-interest when backing this disgraceful blot on the presidency. You almost thought that if the economy was perking along just fine, people wouldn't care if they had a pathological liar or a sexual predator in the White House. Oh, wait. They did.

Here's a list of Clinton scandals. Enjoy. A is for Arkansas, where Bill Clinton got his political start, where Hillary Rodham Clinton worked at Rose Law Firm, and where Whitewater began as a land deal between the Clintons and Jim and Susan McDougal. B is for Billing-gate, Hillary Clinton's missing law-billing records. Those records -- which raised questions about Mrs. Clinton's role in the Castle Grande deal -- were subpoenaed in 1994. They were missing until early 1996, when they turned up in a White House room next to her office. She says she doesn't know how they got there. C is for Cattlegate, Hillary Clinton's mysterious ability to turn a $1,000 investment into a $100,000 profit on cattle futures, a feat experts say was virtually impossible in normal trading. C is also for Castle Grande, a real-estate scheme that federal regulators say was a sham. A federal inspector general's report found Hillary Clinton drew up the legal papers that were used to improperly funnel hundreds of thousands of dollars to Seth Ward, father-in-law of her ex-law partner Webster Hubbell. D is for Billy Dale, the career head of the White House Travel Office, who was fired along with six other career staffers, to make way for Clinton cronies in Travelgate. The White House then brought in the FBI to justify the firing, and Dale was hit with criminal charges that wrecked his life for two years. A jury cleared him in just two hours. E is for Mike Espy, the former agriculture secretary who was forced out over charges that he got gifts and favors from Arkansas-based Tyson foods, whose owners were longtime Clinton backers. A special counsel has brought several indictments, though not against Espy. F is for Filegate, the improper White House rummaging through 900 FBI files on Republican officials in the Bush and Reagan administration. The White House says it was an innocent snafu. Republicans suspect an enemies list. Whitewater independent counsel Ken Starr and several congressional committees are probing. G is for Golfgate, ex-White House aide David Watkins' improper use of presidential helicopters for a personal golf outing. He was forced to resign. In the 1992 presidential campaign, Clinton aides tried to use taxpayer funds to help settle a sexual harassment case filed by a fellow campaign worker against Watkins. H is for Hillary Clinton, whose role has been questioned in Filegate, Travelgate, Billing-gate, Whitewater and Castle Grande. She denies any wrongdoing. H is also for Hubbell, in jail after pleading guilty to bilking law clients on charges brought by Whitewater independent counsel Starr. Hubbell was previously the associate attorney general, the No. 3 Justice Department office. I is for Indonesiagate, featuring the Lippo group, a firm with long-standing ties to Bill Clinton, Clinton cronies and Arkansas. Republicans want to know why an Indonesian couple -- of apparently modest means -- with ties to Lippo gave $452,000 to the Democratic National Committee and what the firm may have gotten in return. Lippo also hired Hubbell, at a reported fee of $250,000, for the five months when he left the White House and went to jail. J is for Paula Jones, who accuses President Clinton of sexual harassment, saying he dropped his pants and asked for oral sex in an Arkansas hotel room while he was governor and she was a state employee. The U.S. Supreme Court will rule this fall on whether her case must wait until after Clinton leaves office, as he demands. K is for William Kennedy, another ex-Hillary Clinton law partner who became a White House lawyer and was forced to resign after concealing his failure to pay nanny taxes. He was reprimanded for his role in Travelgate. To Be Continued.....

God, I miss the 90's. "You're doing a great job down here, Brownie!"
Nutts4theHoggs 11/18/2005
The best, most intelligent, and genuine guy. He may have stuck it to Monica but who cares. And for people like stalconer say how can you trust a man that can't keep his pants on? Well, just look at how the American people felt of him during the Lewinsky attacks. Umm, his ratings were above 70% approval at that time. You can look it up. And I can trust him because he never lied about public affairs, just private, and never, never used soldiers in an unjust manner..such as crappy W. has in Iraq. W. has disgraced the country by intrenational measures and domestic measures. And as for Carter, and Clinton for that matter, have done so much good after their presidency throughout the US and the world that these guys show that they were not in it just for themselves. They genuinely care, they understand the international community, and Clinton created a surplus..which the bill was not signed by a single Republican, created more jobs than Reagan and Bush Sr.'s terms together, and while we were focused on his sex life, he was busy making the best state of the union address about the war on terror. He told W. that it should be the number 1 priority on his list, and he ignored it by not paying attention to those Aug 6th pres. briefing documents, which just so happened to be titled..."Bin Laden to attack in America." 9/11 was no president's fault, and blaming that terrible act on a single man is unsubstantial. Bin Laden was a key person in terrorism after the Afghan-Soviet war, in which we backed the mujihideen Afghans...which is now mostly Al-Qaida. A Rhodes scholar, and moderate democrat who broke party lines to pass many bills, and unfortunately was scrutinized over and over about Whitewater, and found not guilty over and over, but the Independent Council statute was in effect and it's scope was so wide that it led to Lewinsky. In which I was not happy with Clinton at the time, but it was known of my business. After all Kennedy had sex with Marilyn Monroe...not proven but it's conventional wisdom that lots of presidents have done the same, just didn't get caught. Clinton left this country with a surplus, jobs, peace negotiations in the heart of where terrorisim is...Palestine and Isreal, and the man is still going strong after heart surgery. He still today, can ad lib a speech with such great fluidity and answer unscripted questions with ease and direct, unlike Bush's problems with scripted questions.
sfalconer 11/03/2005
Probably the worst President in modern history next to Carter. He disgraced the office and his country and thank god he could not run for a third term. If you can't trust a guy to keep his pants on how can you trust him with a country?
SunNstaRs2003 11/02/2005
No one died with Clinton lied. So he was impeached for lying about his personal life-- we shouldn't be diving in to that anyway; not as long as it doesn't affect his ability to lead the country. His ability to lead the country, by the way, was quite effective. Especially compared to the current "leadership". Actually worked towards paying off the deficit, created jobs, and gave tax breaks to EVERYONE-- not just the rich. If foreplay and lying about foreplay is the worst thing he's guilty of, he's one of the cleanest politicians in all of history.
kaleeena 10/29/2005
My favorite president. He did great things for this country... even if it was his wife doing them. Haha.
decalod85 10/19/2005
A bit of a coward in my book. We should have finished the job that Bush started in Somalia, we should have been more on the ball about the Balkans. Showed no backbone about gays in the military. But, the economy was great, lots of jobs, and the debt was actually being paid down.
