I get a kick how people predicted that Conan would be gone 2 month after taking over Letterman's Late Night time slot. Not only has Conan survived, Conan actually has the most original comedy of any of the nighttime hosts. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is the greatest. Now I hear he is going to take over for Leno 2009. He is richly deserving.

Conan O'Brien is easily one of the best talk show hosts that television has to offer. People who get hung up on the fact that he is goofy and possibly childish are overthinking things. Its part of the act, lots of people like it. Get that stick out of your ass and open up your mind to things that are actually funny. David Letterman is no where near is funny as conan. The only thing that keeps letterman alive is his writers. Conan will be one of the best talk show hosts there has ever been.

It's amazing to me that he's actually got a television show. He reminds me of the way we acted as preteens. His lack of maturity, forced audience participation and totally DORKY persona make him the top joke jerk of all times. Does he really think he's got any talent at all? I think he's being used by the network...telling him how great he is, but actually they're laughing beihind his back...STUPID can be interesting, and I guess it makes ratings.

Conan is a good-natured guy, but his show and his interviews just aren't thought provoking and the humor isn't terribly original. He takes self-deprecation too far (I don't care that he is a pale guy. I'm a pale girl. Let's get on with more meaningful discussion already). He is capable of doing good interviews because occasionally, on accident, he does.

Making fun of Canada, good man!

Very unique look and style of humor. Best band on late-night TV. Conan took some time to find his niche, but has been unstoppable ever since.
AstonMartin15a lm 06/13/2004
Conan is the bomb. Leno and Letterman hang on for pimp guests to make their shows funny. Conan take anything and make it funny. If you think he' a bad host, wtf is wrong with you? He's great, he brings the audiences with him and the show is f******* hilarious. And if you think he's horrible, then how come his show is sold out 6 months in advance?

Conan's too heavyhanded for my liking - a little shtick goes a long way. Really I think if he refined his over-the-topness just a little, and acquired a better sense of timing, he could be brilliantly funny. I'm not a fan of way he uses guests as props, which Letterman does more artfully. Other things that suck about the show: Joel the announcer's persona - tired, unfunny, not a little homophobic, and i wonder how long the guy can put up with it; Max Weinburg, who's inherently uncool and annoying, and about whom sex jokes are just flatly unbelievable; the preparation H guy... Triumph the comic dog is great, I think that guy needs his own show; the if they mated segments are funny, though they're less funny when the freaky effect is over-embellished. Visits from Bush and Schwarzenegger are always great.

O'Brien..Tsk Tsk..what a total child..him and his pet bear and dog make for the imaculate trio..AWESOME!! Father, Son and Holy Mutt!!
ClassicTVFan47 12/10/2003
Not very funny at all.
conanrox 12/10/2003
Conan is the best, no competition. He is Brilliant, Witty, goofy, and has an incredible sense of integirty. He is the best, he is a comedic god. I LOVE YOU CONSEY!!
thadea 11/07/2003
From the beginning of the show where he does that whacked-out jump, to the hissing at the camera, making fun of anna nicole's laugh while running of stage like an oaf, this guy's hilarious. This show is for everyone who likes the type of comedy seen in the naked gun movies, just some really silly and weird stuff. The tall hair and his big Irish square head are funny as hell too.
President -X-D 09/05/2003
Someone mentioned that his chair is purposely too high so he can look down on guests? Conan O'Brien is SIX FOOT FIVE INCHES TALL. Of course he's going to be "looking down" on a 5'2" actress. Grr. Anyway, I didn't think he was all that great during his first few years, but he hit his stride a while back. His show is VERY funny now with or without Andy Richter. He pushes the envelope with the censors sometimes, but all in all he's hilarious and might even dethrone Letterman one day.
CriticMan 09/04/2003
Too slapstick..too self centered..plus his chair is too high so he can look down on the guests

Conan is soo damn funny and handsome too. Hes smart and witty and goofy all at the same time! His show is really great!

Conan is simply the best along with Jay Leno. WOO HOO! GO Conan! You are the bomb diggity!
BaLLRchicK86 07/22/2003
conan o'brien is the funniest talk show host ever!! he's smooth and has a certain charm to him. He has a great personality and can make the most boring guests funny. I love it when he acts weird..it gives an extra spunk to the show!
dovekiller 07/21/2003
Nice monolog once you get past the, what, stupidity? childishness? The man is 40 yrs old but his brain apparently stopped just before puberty. Still, I check him out once in a while. He is a better interviewer than Leno is any day.
kolby1973 07/18/2003
As I said, I don't care for late night tv talk shows or the hosts that well. But I will say Conan is the best out of the pack, but that isn't saying much.
sunglazd 07/17/2003
He is good, funny, a bit overboard, which is exactly right for what he does.
snlgirl 07/16/2003
Conan is the funniest guy on TV today. He is very original and you never know what he's gonna do next. I also like that Comedy Central earlier so I can watch it!
AndrewScott 07/08/2003
After years of not getting respect, it's great to see the show of this former Simpsons TV writer thriving. Skits are creative and inspired where other late, late night shows can get tired.
Reyngel 07/03/2003
I've been watching since his first show back on September 13th, 1993, and I'll be watching until his last show. It's the best show on TV, period.
JASONLUVER 06/21/2003
dave is better
JimmyInAtlanta 06/21/2003
5 stars just for Triumph alone - without a doubt some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen on TV. and Camel Toe Annie too.
getback 06/06/2003
The one original in a sea of the mundane. He has kept the spirirt of Lettermans NBC show alive and given it new life.A must see,and it's about the onlt thing on that network that is.
Sharris22 06/04/2003
Conan O'Brien rocks the "cas-ball!" I really would like to see him on at a better time and get his dues. I don't believe there is a better late night talk show host than Conan. He's is always on his feet and is so creative and witty. Love it!
electricface 05/29/2003
Oh, he's brilliant. Whenever I can't sleep I watch his show and then I get all hyper and laughy and even more awake. He's way too good for the joke recycling I (and everyone) has observed him doing over the past while.. I'm sure it's a rut he can get out of easily, how hard can it be to just NOT do the string dance and "we've got a great show for you tonight.. no, really" every single monologue? My theory is he's trying to wean himself off the cocaine, and it's making him less spastic and wacky.. but the show's still great, rut or not.
Paraporcus 05/09/2003
If you aren't on the floor laughing during his shows, then you don't have any humor at all. Conan is the single most self-depricating host on television (A GOOD TRAIT) and I find that to be hilarious. There are some uninformed people leaving comments on here that claim that he thinks he's funny when he's not. I'm sorry, but Conan is the only comedian that constantly claims he isn't funny. In the process a regular human develops a liking for a real man being a comedian on television. Yes, compared to Letterman and Leno, Conan is far more talented. And why did the question of acting come up in someone's comment? Wow...if you don't understand what you should be watching for, then you're stupid. Max Weinberg is the best band leader on television, by the way...and his band is second to none. (Paul Schaffer kicks ass but his style is a bit too messy contrasted to MW7.) Conan should be on television forever. He brings humility to our incredible pretentious society and helps us to realize what we're thinking and find the humor in it. That is talent. Thank you Conan.
tahnee18 04/29/2003
He's the funniest talk show host there is. Jay Leno is dull, David Letterman is mediocre, and that other guy, don't know what's his name,is talentless.O'Brien is hilarious and quick-witted and I love Triumpth the dog.
warmTape 04/26/2003
Conan's the only celebrity I've seen whose sense of humor is similiar to my own. Its just the random, simple, stupid things he does that are hysterical. The years he wrote for Saturday Night Live around the early 90's were also some of the funniest years the show has ever experienced. I thought the show would be dead when Andy left, but it gave Conan a chance to prove himself as a comedian to his audience.

First of all, I`m from Europe and my first reaction to his show was a great great surprise - a suprise that something like that can come out of American TV. This show represents to me everything I like about American pop culture, the way they take and twist it. And to find, on TV!, somebody who`s sensibility and general approach is so close to your`s - how rare is that! I would like to thank all of them at the show for cheering me up during all these greepy nights in "the real world". I just laugh, laugh and laugh, endlessly("Endless Laugh"?), even when the show is already over, I just lay and laugh. Or, it also happens quite often, I just start laughing by myself during the day. Yeah, that happens a lot. Thank you!

Awsome.. period

The Cone man is okay by me. During the early phase - when they first gave him the show - I was a little concerned that he wouldn't actually pull it off - but he has. Occasionally, the show gets a little "blue" but it is late night tv and I'm a little more conservative than I used to be. I love the out of studio segments. Like the time Conan wanted to learn how to be a bartender. HIIIILARIOUS. Good show, old chap.
jerryheilman 04/07/2003
compared to dave?
ratexmaximus 04/01/2003
Funny as all Hell. He and his comedy writing staff are cutting edge like the way Letterman used to be.
forgotten hero 03/30/2003
He truly is a clever comedian. The sketches that are featured on his show are hilarious. The mock interviews via satellite are equally entertaining and his actual interviews with celebrities are rarely dull.
DonAlejandro 03/25/2003
I used to like Conan's show a lot more than I do now. He seems to have gotten stuck in a rut ever since Andy left, recycling the same old gags every night (for example, saying something to the effect of 'Tonight's show is really great. I usually say that, but I'm usually lying. This show is really bad, but tonight it's good' every single night). The show was fresher when Conan had Andy to riff with him, but his delivery and zaniness are still endearing. Conan also has the most consistently funny pre-recorded segments of all the late night variety shows. He just seems to work better when he has someone with whom he can banter. He should steal Jimmy Kimmel's bit and have a different guest host every week.
dahlia 03/07/2003
a really funny guy and very intelligent. He should be on earlier though. He seems to treat his guests with respect and in some ways is like a big, loveable kid.
ratemaster1984 03/01/2003
He, certainly, is the funniest man in Late Night! When is Jay "incredibly boring" Leno gonna move over, and let Conan take over the tonight show!
gmanod 02/19/2003
Truly the funniest man on late-night

CONAN ROCKS BABY!!!

Conan is funny, plain and simple. He has a great show.....FOR ME TO POOP ON (Triumph the Insult dog reference)!I love his sketches after the monologue, especially when he did the Clinton interviews. Triumph is a riot too. Andy was okay, but Conan stands on his own. I also like the bits with Max. Conan has always been on the cutting edge of music. I loved seeing Papa Roach and Heather Nova on Conan. He would still be successful if he only interviewed the studio audience.

i love conan. hes so funny and so cute
Hip Chick 01/30/2003
Conan O'Brien is the best thing that ever hit the talk show industry. Not to sound redundant, but come on. Anyone that says he's not funny is probably the most stiff, square that doesn't understand what makes humor so interesting:wit. He is incredibly witty, especially for someone that sits up there every night and always comes up with a funny comment or impression out of something seemingly normal. All I have to say is that he is the most entertaining, intelligent person to hit TV in a while.
xm_711 12/18/2002
He's simultaneously uncomfortable and too comfortable in his own skin. He's got the software, but lacks the hardware. His place is behind the camera, not in front of it.
