Gap clothes are... well they're kinda bland. But sometimes, all you really want is a plain black sweater or a plain white oxford shirt. The Gap is pretty good about keeping their clothes simple and classic... atleast for their men's line. A little bit pricy? Yeah, a bit. Can you find the same kinds of items at cheaper stores? Of course. Are the cheaper, generic brands better? Usually not, but sometimes. I wouldn't advise anyone to fill their entire wardrobe with GAP stuff... hat would be one terribly DULL wardrobe. But it can't hurt to have a few Gap items in there (a pair of khakis, a sweater, some gray t-shirts, whatever).

The Gap is a great place to shop if you have no sense of individuality or taste. They sell generic clothes for people who are afraid to be something other than what they see on television. The hard thing to believe, is that people don't care. "Everybody in vests". You mindless sheep, fashion should be an expression of self. Is that how you want to be seen? A generic cop-out lining the pockets of people who have designed you.
DeathRattle 08/15/2003
Myself, I never cared for any of their clothing line. Their style seems to be to preppy. Some of it looks decent, but not impressive. Also, their prices are ok. Some of their clothing line is a bit expensive though. I could find better prices at Dillards.
carfreak88 08/14/2003
I love the Gap. A lot of my clothes are from the there. The only thing I will not buy from there are the jeans because the two pairs I have seemed to have expaned two or three sizes after just a few washings. Can uaually find good deals, and not everyone shops there so you are not wearing the same thing as 50 other people.
cromulance 08/10/2003
I don't get why anybody would want to shop at the Gap when its sister store, Old Navy, offers better quality clothing at cheaper prices. Maybe it's because they have better commercials.
help me 06/21/2003
only have 1 sweater from there, but it's mostly blah
ellenruth 05/24/2003
Gap jeans are the only ones I wear, because they fit me well. They have enough styles that if one doesn't work for you, it seems unlikely that another won't. I think it's great that they've started expanding to include bright colors and fun prints in their lines. If you want basic and boring, go to J.C. Penny. And yeah, it's cookie cutter- how many things do you own that are actually one of a kind? If you need clothes to make you stand out, I'm sorry.

The Gap used to be cool a few years ago, and I even worked there part-time when I was in high school. But, now all of their clothes are... well, blah. They are so boring and dull now. They used to have some cool clothes, but now they have nothing! They have carried the same exact line of clothing for quite a while now (for about two and a half years now from what I have noticed), and they rarely change anything. The only t-shirts that they have now are the plain colored ones, or boring ones that just say "GAP" on them. The only thing that they are still good for are boxer shorts. Now I pretty much only shop at American Eagle and Abercrombie. At least their clothes have life to them. I haven't really bought anything at the Gap in about three years (since I worked there), and I don't intend to go into that store until they get their act together and get their cool clothes back!
The_Decockster 04/21/2003
I like Gap a lot. They sell LONG jeans, which are hard to find elsewhere, and their clothing generally has a timeless, classic, last-a-long-time look. My only problem with them is that they don't have enough low-rise jeans.
shopgirl1979 03/19/2003
The Gap and the whole Gap Inc. which includes Old Navy and Banana Republic GREAT! I love everything that I have ever bought at the Gap. Most of their styles stay for quite awhile. Favorite product? Definetly their ribbed turtlenecks they bring each fall. I probably have 20! The only thing I do notice is that their black cotton fades very quickly. Otherwise, two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

I really have no opinion on teh gap as i never shop there at all so i cant say good or bad about it
Suzzie 12/30/2002
Gap it soooooo plain!!!!! All the clothes are exactly identicle.
CanadaSucks 12/02/2002
Prices are way too high for things I can find cheaper elsewhere. Has become boring in the last 10 years.
catherine81 11/18/2002
liked this shop. not size-ist or semi-pornographic. quality clothing, fashionable and casual
Hollycat01 11/05/2002
Although the Gap is not really my style of clothing, everytime I go in there the sales people are very friendly and attentive. I can usually find something I like, and there's always someone around to let me into a fitting room or run and get me another size. If you're shopping for a gift they usually have pretty good suggestions. I'd say the Gap is pretty on top of things!
negative creep 10/23/2002
I think it sucks big time!! It just reminds people of the purple pride. I will always give props to all the preps who will wear that. That takes guts to wear something that rebellious.
summerexotica 05/24/2002
i think that GAP is a great store and erally like certain clothes they have there, but sometimes their stuffis a littel tackey and might not look right with something they have in the magazines but over all its a really cool store!
Teaseress 05/14/2002
Love the TV commercials, but not really that keen on the clothing. I don't wear jeans and I hate plain white T shirts. When I walk into one of their main stores (I live in London, UK) I'm bored. There is nothing that grabs my attention. There's only one redeeming thing. I went into one of my local charity shops and saw a lovely pair of dark grey trousers (very smart, work trousers) for four pounds and fifty pence, they were originally from Gap. bargin!
Some_Fantastic 04/11/2002
I can't seem to understand the fascination of boring clothes for insanely high prices. Is it just the "in" thing to do, pay $120 for a pair of jeans that you could get somewhere else for less than half the price? Or $44 for a short sleeve shirt? Even their sales racks seem to be overpriced, and all of the sizes that I wear are gone, leaving size ones and size eighteens. Definitely do NOT recommend to those who don't have money to burn.
callmetootie 04/07/2002
Horrible selection of clothing. Seems as though it's "used clothing", because it's wrinkled and totally unwearable at times.

Some of the styles in the Gap are just a little tacky (the 70s skirts were a bit hard on the eyes :)), but all in all, I like their store. I don't like the way their jeans fit, though, and I have yet to find anyone else who does. But aside from those few negative comments, they really do have some great conservative clothes I can wear to work. Yes, the clothes are pretty highly priced, but unless you shop at discount or department stores, you're going to overpay...it's a given. I really do like some of the basics in the Gap - khaki pants, ribbed turtlenecks, fitted tees, basic shirts that are just a step above average, nice smelling fragrances, cute kids pajamas (in Gap Kids and Baby Gap), (oh, and I found the cutest sheer cappuchino colored button-down shirt with only 2 buttons), things I have seen at the other stores, too, but somehow the Gap seems just a touch above average.
Galomorro 11/25/2001
Not the most interesting clothes store in the world but good if ya just wanna get some casual duds for work or some new jeans. A bit expensive but then they all are these days. I would appreciate more colors and more clothes to choose from, but that's how all the retail clothing stores are. Ya want a lot of variety, shop online or by catalog...
afterglow70 06/18/2001
I rated this 3 stars because their clothing is totally over rated by the price, but I do like some of the clothing. The quality is ok.
Molfan 05/25/2001
Gap is over rated. It is the "in store" right now. Their clothes are okay, but not that great. If we get anything at all, we head for the sale items. As like most trendy stores you are expected to pay extra for a name.
lancebassnum1f an 03/11/2001
I give Gap a 5 star cause its not that expensive and i love the styles!
blue7658om 02/21/2001
Its an awsome store, but the seams rip and the jeans fade WAYYYYY to quickly. Even my cheapo k-mart jeans dont fade that fast
dG__ 02/12/2001
Hi. Nothing from me. I just like the irony of adding another opinion about the Gap.
Mile-High David 02/03/2001
I rarely find anything at Gap that fits me. Most of the clothing looks good; but I have a 29-inch waist. I'll wander into Structure across the mall before I'll even set foot in the Gap.
Lou28JG 01/30/2001
I like clothes from the GAP but the "long" length isn't long enough for khakis.
Blankita04 12/12/2000
I always shop at the Gap,the clothes there are comfortable and casual. Also the clothes there are decent looking, not too hoochie or slobbish.
SamIAm 10/10/2000
I have found myself back in the Gap more often lately. For a while I was shopping at Old Navy for the great prices and fun styles for the whole family..however, after a few months and regular washings, the clothes start to fade and fall apart (and the styles have gotten a bit whacky for me)..so I am back to the Gap. Classic basics, and stylish trends at pretty reasonable prices (I still head to the back of the store to the sales racks and refuse to pay $29.99 for a white T-shirt). I have noticed and been told that, on average, the jeans shrink at least 1-2 sizes after multiple washings..but I can live with that, hopefully it will keep my weight in check.
Melchoir 09/27/2000
Used to have fairly basic wardrobe stapes in many basic colors. When I walked in there last week, it was like revisiting the 70's. Heinous skirts and tops in ridiculous colors and styles. They are clearly marketing a very young hipster city crowd. Not for me. However, the jeans and khakis and most of the men's stuff remain a good bargain. Love the pyjamas, underwear, and men's boxers with entertaining designs.
sperryc 08/03/2000
very solid. don't know anyone who doesn't have stuff from gap.
leelanau 07/07/2000
Ugh!!! The most common clothes in whole world... even in "La chacharita" you can buy bests!!! And please, do not talk about the e-store of Gap: It's a joke!!!
wier7932om 06/28/2000
as a gap worker, i am very proud to be a part of such a big happy family that is GAP
Wiggum 06/16/2000
What can you say about the Gap? It's not the most exciting store in the world, but it sets the standard for basic, not-cheap but not-expensive casual clothes. If you want a pair of simple khakis or jeans, the Gap makes it really easy - even more so if you shop on-line at Gap.com. My biggest complaint about the Gap is that they planted one of their ubiquitous stores on the corner of Haight & Ashbury in San Francisco - the center of the anti-establishment, summer of love, hippie counter-culture in the late 60s and early 70s. Were they intentionally trying to be ironic?
jen_now 05/04/2000
The stuff is good quality but WAY to expensive
TheShoeLady 04/04/2000
I love The Gap.They have clothes for people of all ages. You can always findsomething-usually on sale. The commercials are very entertaining.

SO overrated. Clothes fall apart within a season. Which is good, I guess, since they're out of fashion by that time anyway.

I DONT LIKE THE STYLE OF CLOTHING THEY CARRY
danc2947om 12/17/1999
Great stuff. Often times great prices too. Most of their pants fit me well.. that's why I like them. Some of the materials, especially for the skirts, are too cheapy though.

It's an awesome store with great style! And the holiday commercials are really cool, too.
ceco849du 11/05/1999
Again, love the style. and the TV commercials are great

Ugh. Used to be a decent place, but has gone way too hip-hop in recent years.
john430et 10/29/1999
An example of capitalism achieving socialist aims, in this case, reasonably priced clothing for the people.
JPEK382DU 10/26/1999
I always like. Most things are simple and able to be worn everyday, and it's reasonable priced.
