After he turned to crack, his career was over. However, during his 60's and 70's stand-up career, he was great. His movies on the other hand were mediocre and silly most of the time.

Richard Pryor is one of the greatest comedians. Every honor bestowed on him are well deserved. His language only highlights his scripts but never takes away the meaning. The guy is a superb comedian and an great comedic actor. It's so heartbreaking MS took him down when he was embarking his plateau and took him away from the life he loved and enjoyed. Myself and many others miss his insightfully curbed humor.

Anyone that uses filthy language to make a buck deserves a bar of ivory soap in the mouth! This goes for gestures of grabbing their crotch to letting the manure flow from their tongues. If people laugh and pay money for these actions, then you are just as guilty. Is this person being rewarded for his good deeds now, I don't think so!

Like Lenny Bruce, his influence is seen in almost every comic to come along after him. Put his pain and failures on the stage in front of you and made you laugh at them with him.

Everyone loves Richard Pryor, and it's because he's got soul. Last year he was recognized as the greatest stand-up comics of all time by Shecky! magazine. How can anyone argue? P.S. He didn't quite do it without "cussing"

SOOOOO NOT FUNNY!

A comedian who is underappreciated by Generation X. He is one of the funniest men alive, and started the "in your face" style, just not as extreme.

He is another guru of comedy. He can host comedy with or without profanity. He paved the way for comedians to make it in the comedy game.

He's the greatest of all time. His jokes are nasty and funny. I've got all his movies and all of them are just hilarious. I got great love for him, he is like so good at stand up. He is truly the greatest of all time.

Richard Pryor has done so many drugs that he is always going to be funny. He did a lot of racist stuff, and I would have to say he has more material than any other comedian I can think of.

He paved the way for comedians like Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. Even Chris Rock couldn't go anywhere without him. And his standup shows from years ago are still funny.

He is an extremely funny person. His comedy was some of the funniest I have ever seen. His movies are hilarious and there is something wrong with you if you don't laugh. He isn't the greatest but he is one of them.

Richard Pryor is a national treasure to comedy. He basically has been around since like Soul Train started. He is unique from other comedians because he never cusses, which I think is hard and amazing.

He set the way for comedians today. He made the comedian industry what it is today. He took comedy to the mainstream. Everyone knows his name and his reputation.

Richard Pryor is one of the greatest comidians of all time, and it upsets me to see that there are people here saying that he's no good because he hasn't done anything lately. The poor man has multiple sclerosis and cannot perform. This just shows they have no idea what they're rating. Ignore those people becuse this guy is a legend. His stand-up and movies are guaranteed to be funny.

what a Master ! Every comic today owes a great deal to this genius...

Richard Pryor was in a league of his and was a tremendous influence on many of the black comedians of the next generation. He was able to laugh at himself and do comic bits about his struggles with drugs. It is a shame to see him in the condition he is today.

Funny in Stir Crazy when I was about 7 but since then, ...what?
Al-Davis-Lives! 06/16/2000
C'mon.. Pryor? This guy is so out of touch, when was the last time you can even remember seeing this guy let alone him doing something funny?

This is the start of comedy, where it all came from.

Richard Pryor is the funniest comedian. I still watch his tapes from the 70's and earuly 80's. This is proof that comedy never dies. Things that he was making jokes then is still relevent now and it is funny. Thumbs Up!!

Richard Pryor is responsible for comedy as it is today.
