green day rox! a great band...

I definitely would not call this band hardcore punk by any means. However, I still love them. I have been a fan now for about 12 years now so, it's not like I heard them on the radio yesterday and became their biggest fan overnight. They blazed the way for all these new poppy-punk bands(too many to name) to that you hear on the radio today. All the new-age punk bands (I use that term VERY loosely!) are just copycats of Green Day and just ridding their coattails. This band is SO amazing live in concert. I prefer their older music (think BEFORE dookie...like kerplunk and 1039/smoothed out slappy hours) but, I cannot say I dislike any of their albums. I do especially love their new album American Idiot. They have really proved in this album that they have grown up. Definitely one of my most favorite bands of all time!!!

i will never get tired of listening to their music. It always reminds me of good times and my teenage years. Green day will always be awesome.

Again, I like their sense of humor. Or liked. I saw an interview with them and I forgot who was speaking but whoever it was seemed so egotistical, stuckup, narcissistic, etc. As you may have noticed, I don't rate bands purely by their songs. There's more to that that makes the band. Personality, maybe? And while I did like some of their songs, the one I mentioned above turned me away. If you're going to trash other bands and make fun of them, make sure you have more talent than them. 3 for their sense of humor, 1 for thinking that they're the best thing out there.

Good Riddance is a fantastic song, and the rest is good wholesome rock. Highly recommended.

Because thay dress like punks dosn't meen they are punk. I grew up in the punk eror and was a punk in the seventies and early eighties, so I know what I'm talking about here. The gitars are acustic. There is no (transistor/intergrated circit-)distortion or synthesisers, the sounds/notes are country/folk. There not kidding me with their fake punk (new wave) image.

Green Day is to the punk movement what the Beatles were to the pioneering '50s rock'n'rollers like Chuck Berry -- sort of. They took the forms that appealed to a relatively narrow audience and brought them to the mainstream, with considerable flair and talent of their own.

What can i say...Billie Joe is God!

Green Day is one of the best current bands worthy of the title Punk Rock.

They've had a few good songs come out in the mid '90s. Time of Your Life and Basket Case are both good songs. They aren't really punk in my opinion, though.

I can't say enough about them. They have managed to bring out every emotion in me. I usually can't go a whole day without them. Green Day is not just a band to me, they are a part of my life.

For a modern band, they are wonderful! For a MODERN band. They haven't got any terrific songs, but they are about fifteen trillion times better than an endless list of OTHER bands I could mention. What I like best about Green Day is their devotion to their fans. "Fans" Does not include the people who gave Green Day five stars because they think Billie Joe is hot (hint hint, several of the girls on this page. I'm to polite to use any names). Keep going, Green Day, and one day I might boost you to a four!

I agree completely with o0_iNs0mNiAc_0o. Green Day's not about popularity or having their songs played on the radio, they're about pleasing their fans, their REAL fans, not all these "Billie Joe is so hot" girls.

I really have nothing bad to say about this band... I love all their albums but I know practically nothing about the band themselves. (I just learned about Green Day being a pot reference from this site... today). All I can say is their music is some of the best out there, from Insomniac, to Warning, to Kerplunk, to Dookie, to 1,039, and even to Nimrod (which would probably be my least favorite out of all of them), Green Day is a great band. And Mike Dirnt's a cutie =)

I have been a green day fan scince they released kerplunk. I must say that if you don't like what you hear (a) don't listen and (b) you're insane. I love thier music, billy joe has the sexiest voice ever. They have come such a long way with thier music and unique style. How many bands can say that they've lasted as long as Green Day? I totaly look forward to the next album, so keep it comming boys, excellent job!!

GREENDAY has helped me through many tough times, including switching careers back in 1997. I remember my first concert - KISS in 1977. I've seen many, many bands over the years as my tastes changed. REM, INXS (twice), Chilli Peppers, etc., but Green Day was truly a burst of energy, each time I saw them. The HFStival was amazing, but even more amazing was seeing them on Bender Arena at American University in June 2001. God Bless Green Day - you are the best band ever.

Green Day rocks. I only got into them 4 years ago when my friend let my hear some of their CDs. Nimrod was a great album, and Dookie was revolutionary. I like the reference to The Clash. Those guys were the grandfathers of Green Day-style punk music.

First of all I would like to make a small comment on green day's behalf, it seems to me, and im sure im not the only one who noticed...more than half of the "ratings" made here were very unfair. I'm saying this because it seems like the ones that had low "ratings" were the ones that didnt even know what green day's whole point in their music career was.They are entirely under rated,and if anyone should have the chance to judge them,they should at least KNOW what their rating.Someone's opinion of one song or one c.d. by them,does not make any difference to what they know they have achieved.Since day one they have put every ounce of themselves into their music because they love to play and they are proud of it.Not once have i heard Billie say that he hoped someone liked his music.They are proud of it and would rather have 3 people out of a 50 that liked their music and felt the realness of it, than a whole bunch of preppy, trend following posers that like one song because their school played it at a dance.Green Day is appreciated by people like myself...whether its few or a million doesnt matter,they are still a band after 12 years and these days that sort of thing dont happen.They will always be remembered by me.

i rember when i waz yonger and my older sister would lisen to GREEN DAY and other bands like that and GREEN DAY waz the olny one i liked, and still like. so if you think their songs bite, get your hearing cheked because their cool!!!PUNK!!!

I don't think Green Day can be compared to anyone. There music is great and I think their new stuff is too. I don't know, guess its because I'm a long time, true fan. They always keep it real and stay away from all the crap that is out today, like hip hop rock, and redneck rock. I don't consider them pop punk, I consider them musicians. You may have a different opinion, but I also think they are the best live band.

I love 'em! I have all of their CD's, and they never seem to get old to me. "Time of Your Life" has been my theme song through those times when things seem to be coming to an end. The songs are great!

Green Day is such an awsome band. I really love thier music and I think the guys are so rad. They are really creative and talented musicians. I really like their Alt-Rock/Pop-Punk sound. And even if you don't like their music, you gotta respect them. They've totally paved the way for other kick-ass bands. They are so talented and they speak for a whole generation of teenagers. And... they just plain rock.

i think Green Day are the best! i've just started listening to that sort of music considering my age (13). I've been trying to find info on Billie, i suppose i'm slightely facinated by the fact i share my name with a cool celeb (as apposed to Billie Piper yuk!). Dookie is their best album as most people would know, but i think Nimrod isn't far behind. Their music has obviously inspired many other young musicians who have since become famous and developed their own styles. They've also inspired me to buy and learn guitar and i can now play the great songs of a great band, Green Day!

Green Day was pretty cool band . They were original and could rock pretty good.

Greenday are really awesome and have been since day one,they never fail to progress with their music. I really look up to Billie joe cause of his really great lyrics.The band has great talent ,and are no doubt the best band anyone will ever see live....i dont see how u people can find their songs sound the same because each album is totally different from the other...oh well thats your guy's problem.any way Greenday are the best band every ,i love them to death and i hope they continue to make amazing music ,bye bye.Billie joe's so hot!

While I admit to absolutely LOVING this band, on a technical level, they aren't that great. Good thing they never admitted to being musical geniuses...they are fun and for-the-moment.

These guys are great. Catchy pop-punk at it's best. Their new album is excellent. So refreshing in this Papa Roach-I'm-25-and-still-blaming-everything-on-my-father-music world.

Okay...alot of the people who have sent in their opinion must be really really, uh, thick. I mean, I guess it doesn't really matter, but the spelling and grammer really show your depth. And one 'person' who wrote in whos' name was morebrainsthenboobs or something, made ALOT of errors. That says something...Anyway, Green Day is my new favourite band. I really liked some of their old songs, and their new songs are better. I love minority. They just make the best tunes and lyrics, the song stays in my head for ages until they make a new one. These guys were my favourite band when I was a bit younger. Over the years the style of music I like has changed, but I still do like Green Day. They've produced some great albums, they're a great alternative/punk band. The downside is that some of their songs tend to sound the same.

Their bassist is cool. They're not really a punk band though. So if you're not familiar with the band Green day, don't pay attention to the posts with the word "punk" in it. Green Day are a rock band. They sound like they came out of the 1990s. Their earlier stuff is a bit gruffer than what they do today, maybe that was their "punk" stuff. To me, they're just a better and non-downer version of the Goo-Goo Dolls (whom, I found unbearable). In other words, their music has balls, but it doesn't sound better than the groups they imitate.
