Whilst they have produced some good tracks, I don't feel they've made enough good tracks for how long they've been around - a lot of them are just average.

Despite the influence they have taken from Thin Lizzy, I've never thought of U2 as particularly groundbreaking or interesting... They have a couple of catchy songs, but are mainly a predecessor to the alt-rock garbage that spawned and bred over the nineties...

Seen them twice live - have a body of work very few can match, but THE JOSHUA TREE lives on as their best album (Red Hill Mining Town and In God's Country!!) and reminds me fondly of freshman year in college...

U2 I have admired since I was a little girl and I absolutely am in love with Bono..I love his activism and I love his voice and how whatever he sings is golden..U2 can't do anything bad...

There's hardly a stinker in their almost 30 year long discography. However, they are one of the most popular bands in rock and roll and they are distributed by the largest record company in the word. So the question must be asked, to what are they an alternative and of whom are they independent? They would seem on the surface to be the epitome of a mainstream rock band at this stage of their careers.
